- The four teams travel from Jerusalem, Israel to Colombo, Sri Lanka. A decision about which class carriage to ride in during a train trip could prove costly for one team. They all struggle with their history, but a masked street parade gives them the opportunity to make up for lost time. A sewing challenge turns into a disaster for all of the teams at the Road Block.—Allister Coots
- Farmers Matt & Tom, the first team to arrive at the last Pit Stop, depart at 1:14am. They open up their clue and are instructed to fly to Colombo, Sri Lanka, where they have to travel to the Gangaramaya Temple in order to receive a blessing, and then their next clue. Father and son Jeff & Luke, the next team to depart, decide to stick with them. The two teams arrive at the airport at Tel Aviv, and find out that there are a couple of possible options for flights from there to Colombo - one flight via Rome, Italy that arrives in Colombo at midnight, and another via Amman, Jordan that arrives in Colombo at 5am. When they learn that the flight via Rome has a tight connection, both teams choose not to take the risk and book themselves on the flight via Amman.
When the last two teams to depart, surfers Tyler & Nathan and models Sam & Renae, arrive at the Tel Aviv airport and learn of their flight options, they decide to gamble on the connection in Rome. Matt & Tom and Jeff & Luke spend the six hours of their layover in Amman lounging beside a pool at the Golden Tulip Grand Palace Hotel and have a bit of fun, but the gamble pays off for Tyler & Nathan and Sam & Renae when they make the flight from Rome to Colombo. They then find the Gangaramaya Temple, are blessed and then receive a Detour that offers the choices of Count or Carry. Regardless of which task they choose to perform, teams have to make their way to the St. John's Fish Market in Pettah. There, teams that choose Count have to count the number of fish in a basket at a marked stall in the centre of the fish market, and would receive the next clue when they provided the correct total, while teams that choose Carry have to use a wooden trolley to deliver 15 blocks of ice through the busy market to a marked stall without breaking them, and would receive their next clue once all of the blocks had been delivered.
Both Tyler & Nathan and Sam & Renae decide to carry the ice blocks. As they complete the Detour, the second flight carrying Jeff & Luke and Matt & Tom arrives in Colombo. They ask someone at the airport if any other teams have come through, and their hearts sink when they find out that the answer is yes. At the markets, Tyler & Nathan and Sam & Renae get their next clue, and are directed to travel by train to the city of Galle, where they have to make their way to the historic Galle Fort in order to receive their next clue. They have to purchase third class tickets for the trip. As they take a tuk-tuk to the Colombo train station, they hope that the two trailling teams don't make the same train, which will allow the leading teams to maintain their gap on them. Matt & Tom and Jeff & Luke are blessed at the temple, and when they arrive at the St. John's Fish Market, they both choose Carry. They deliver the ice blocks and head for the train station. Matt & Tom catch up and board the same train as Tyler & Nathan and Sam & Renae, and although Jeff & Luke have an eventful journey to the station, with their tuk-tuk having to stop for petrol, and dropping them off near the booth that sells the second class tickets, which they purchase, they also make the same train as the other teams.
When the train arrives in Galle, Jeff & Luke have to serve a 10 minute penalty for buying the wrong class of tickets, while the other three teams head straight for Fort Galle. At the fort, they find a cluebox near the lighthouse, and find a task that puts their knowledge of Sri Lanka's history to the test when they see a couple of treasure chests for each team on the beach. The clue asks them the question "In which year did Sri Lanka achieve independence from Britain?", and teams have to enter their answer on a combination lock on the first chest. If their answer is correct, the chest will open and they will receive another question, "In what year was the father of the modern Sri Lankan nation, Don Stephen Senanayake, born?", for which the teams have to enter their answer on another combination lock, this one located on the second chest. If their answer is correct, the chest will open and reveal their next clue.
Some of the teams, unsure of the answers themselves, ask among the locals for help. In spite of losing their lead when the trailling teams boarded the same train, Tyler & Nathan and Sam & Renae open up another lead on Matt & Tom and Jeff & Luke when they are the first to come up with 1948 and 1884 as the answers that open the two respective combination padlocks. Inside the second chest, they find a clue that tells them to travel by bus to the town of Ambalangoda and search for a mask stall vendor who will hand them a photo of a mask. They have to memorise the photo and then search among one hundred performers in a nearby street festival for a person wearing the same mask as that depicted in the photo. When the teams find the correct mask, the street performer will hand them their next clue.
Matt & Tom and Jeff & Luke unlock their chests as Tyler & Nathan and Sam & Renae search the street festival for the right masks. When they find the correct masks and open up the clue given to them by the street performer, they find that they have reached the Road Block. At this Road Block, teams have to travel by taxi to the Trendy Connections garment factory, where one person from each team has to use a professional sewing machine to sew a shirt using a pattern that is provided to them. When they have sewn the shirt to the satisfaction of the factory head, he will hand them their next clue.
In their search for a taxi to take them to the clothing factory, Sam & Renae and Nathan & Tyler end up travelling in a private van. Renae and Tyler choose to perform the task for their respective teams. Matt & Tom and Jeff & Luke find the masks in their photos, receive the Road Block clue and take a taxi to Trendy Connections, arriving at the factory while Renae and Tyler are still trying to sew their shirts. Matt is obliged to perform this Road Block as Tom has already done the maximum of six Road Blocks, while Jeff chooses to perform the task for his team. While the three men struggle, Renae is quick to pick up on the details necessary for the finished product to satisfy the factory head. Sam & Renae open up the clue and are directed to travel by taxi to the next Pit Stop, located at Independence Square in Colombo.
They head off for the square and find the mat and host Grant Bowler, who tells them that they are the first team to arrive, but because they took an illegal form of transport to the Road Block - a private charter van instead of a taxi - they have incurred a 20 minute penalty. They realise that since they were not the only team in the van, one of the other teams will also incur the same penalty, a point that is proven after Tyler completes the Road Block and he and Nathan arrive on the mat at Independence Square, where Grant tells them that they are the second team to arrive, but because they took an illegal form of transport to the Road Block, they too have incurred a 20 minute penalty.
Minutes later, Grant calls Sam & Renae back to the mat and reminds them that they have been marked for elimination and will incur a 30 minute penalty unless they are the first team to check in, but now that they have finished serving their 20 minute penalty and with the only other arriving team still serving their penalty, he delivers the good news that their 30 minute penalty has been nullified, and they are officially team number one. The good news doesn't stop there for the models - they are the first of three teams that will be racing to the finish for a shot at the A$250,000 prize, and as the winners of this leg of the race, they have each won a A$5,000 home entertainment system courtesy of Bing Lee electrical stores.
Back at Trendy Connections, Jeff and Matt continue to struggle, but Jeff is the first to sew a shirt that is approved by the factory head, and he heads outside in search of a tuk-tuk to take him back to Colombo. After some more attempts, Matt succeeds in completing the task and receives the clue for the Pit Stop. He too leaves the factory in search of a tuk-tuk. Meanwhile at Independence Square, Grant calls Tyler & Nathan back to the mat because their penalty time has now been served, and he checks them in as team number two, the second of three teams that will be racing to the finish.
Jeff & Luke maintain their placing in the tuk-tuk ride back to Colombo. They arrive at Independence Square and are checked in third by Grant, making them the last of the three teams that will be racing to the finish with a chance at winning the A$250,000 prize. Matt & Tom are the last team to arrive, and they receive the bad news from Grant that they have been eliminated from the race.
