- Linden wakes up in the hospital psychiatric ward after casino personnel told the hospital she tried to jump off the balcony and resisted their efforts to rescue her. Her dismissal of that claim and the fact that she is working on a high profile murder case fall on deaf ears as do Holder's attempts to convince them otherwise. He tries to enlist Reggie's help but in the end has to turn to someone else in Linden's life to get her released. Holder is still investigating the case and is simply ignoring his Lieutenant's orders to stay out of it. Holder learns from a patrolman that one of gangster Janek Kovarsky's men was caught trespassing on the waterfront construction site the night Rosie was killed. He was never charged after being vouched for by the construction manager. It all points to deeply rooted corruption in the Mayor's office.—garykmcd

Later Stan is watching a woman with a baby.
Holder pays Regi a visit and tells her what's been happening. She tells him her psychiatrist is the only person that can get Linden released, but Regi doesn't want to give up that information. Regi has seen what Linden does to herself when she obsesses over work to the detriment of her health and family responsibilities. Holder assures her "this time is different."
On his way out Holder spots one of Mayor Adams waterfront billboards. He calls a department buddy and asks him to look into anything suspicious related to the Ames/Adams deal. Jamie isn't thrilled that Richmond is spending time with his base supporters at a gym where kids are playing basketball.
Linden downplays to Carrie the case that landed her the last time. Carrie says Jack had been scared she had left her room for days. Linden says the case involved a murdered hooker whose 6-year old son had been trapped with his mother's decomposing body for a week because he couldn't reach the chain to unlock the door. While Linden waited with him for protective services he drew the picture over and over again. Linden tells her the boy (Adrian) ended up in the foster system and makes a point to mention that Carrie's career has her at a "bottom of the barrel psych unit."
After sending the volunteers away Jamie notices a pin of some kind on the floor of the offices.
Holder talks to the officer who made the waterfront arrest the night of Rosie's disappearance. It was a guy named Joseph trying to slip under the fence at the construction site. He was immediately told to set him loose by the construction manager, but the officer found him in the system as one of Janek's soldiers.
Linden tells Carrie about Rosie's case. Carrie references that Adrian was found in a closet and Rosie was in a trunk. She wonders why these two cases have meant so much to Linden. Linden bottles up. When Carrie suggests that maybe Linden should be there until the end of the week, Linden losses it and has to be restrained.

Holder chases down Joseph. He tells him he was supposed to break in and bury some Indian bones on the waterfront construction site. Holder tells Carlson he thinks that Rosie may have overheard members of the tribe talking about his cover-up, which got her killed. He thinks it goes all the way to the top, that Adams and Ames both knew another, bigger, payday was on the way. He wants Carlson to give him the name of Linden's psychiatrist: "Let's solve this case."

Linden tells Carrie that some aspects of what happened to Rosie didn't make sense. In the case of Adrian's mother's death, her partner was convinced the father was the killer. Linden admits she doesn't think they arrested the right person. She eventually gave up trying to convince her partner. Linden thought Adrian had been trying to tell her something. Carrie brings up Linden's mother and the fact she was left along in an apartment at the age of 5. Linden ended up spending the night alone with her mother left. During this conversation just when it looks like Carrie is about to have a breakthrough with Linden, a nurse knocks on the door to say she's been officially released.
Rick is at the psych ward desk signing some forms, and waiting with Holder for Linden. He tells Holder that she is now his responsibility. Rick is her doctor and is having her released into his care.
As Linden descends the stairs into the lobby, she spots Rick and, while she's surprised to see him, it causes her to smile a little smile. Rick shows no emotion.
When she enters the lobby to find Holder waiting for her, Rick is gone.
