Aden Emili, a lawyer has just moved to Minnesota, after a police officer, Mark Alonzo, confesses to killing 45 black men during his time in service. Aden finds himself being the sole interviewer that Mark chooses to confess to ultimately revealing haunting details of his past killings including the murder of Aden's father, before he collapses and instantly dies of an asthma attack. Whether supernatural or not, a wave of paranoia and guilt sweeps the nation, leading other like-minded police officers to face their past as hundreds begin to confess their crimes.
