In Palma de Mallorca, handsome adolescent Timo Mendes cheerfully picks up his doting pa, surgeon Ricardo Mendes, at the airport after his medical conference in Dusseldorf, with his ma Julia Brandner, to celebrate her birthday. Timo is so sweetly charmed by a congratulatory message on the answering machine from granddad Arno that Ricardo urges her to invite him over after years of grim radio-silence. Independently, young and hip padre Jan Brander arrives at his new Palma parish, picked up by a traditionalist old priest. Philpp's condition remains critical, but hopeful. Ludwig's warning didn't prevent Helena from going to his sickbed to confess to Nicola, but she decides against it after hearing her bitterness and realizing the assembly could be compromised and hence the whole family's future.
