Disney Sentai series for kids 3-7, this parent approves!
jordanbeasleymma22 January 2023
It is so fun to see these characters treat the antagonists with kindness and compassion. This enhances the life lessons I teach at home. I enjoy that the "villainous" plots are minor, and that learning lessons is the character arc everyone follows.

My daughter, 3, loves to pretend play as all the kitties and knows their powers and catch phrases. Reminds me of watching Power Rangers when I was a tot, but this is clearly better.

The songs aren't bad, the singers are decent even. My only complaint is that there isn't enough exploration of their non-super alter egos, but that might be a bit much for a show aimed at very young children.

Overall, I recommend it goes in the watch queue.

Similar to PJ Masks but with Super Cute Kittens
bill_allison12 January 2023
Four cute kittens who live at a cat day-care have secret identities as super heroes. When duty calls, they jump down secret tubes where they suit-up and become Super Kitties. They have two adventures each episode. Sometimes they face a random trouble-maker, and sometimes they fight the super-villain Lab Rat.

The animation is high quality 3D CGI and the kittens are adorable. The simple city setting helps educate preschool children about the world around them and the stories give lessons on good behavior.

My only criticism (based on two episodes) is the stories are very simple and I think older children will quickly lose interest. If you need to satisfy multiple children at one time, you might do better with Puppy Dog Pals or Sophia the First.

A Futile Feline Fantasy
guess-shtick10 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
First off, 10/10 stars to Carmen Carter's performance of the show's theme song - her voice apparently has no limit and is an unmatched credit to the show.

Now for the rest of the show. One star for existing, and one more star for being a solid, innocuous show that doesn't try to get cute with any issues that belong in a third-year socioeconomics course.

Some have complained that the show promotes obesity and "toxic body positivity", but as far as I can tell, while Buddy is clearly obese (or at least rotund), the show makes no claims as to the merit of his obesity. It's completely reasonable that Buddy's owner simply lets him and Sparks share a food bowl; any pet owner knows that bowl-sharing often leads to overeating, as domestic animals are not always the best judges of portion control.

Other critics have brought up the fact that the show is clearly a rip-off of Paw Patrol, or even the more intellectually provocative Puppy Dog Pals. These critics, if not absolutely correct, bring devastating arguments that simply cannot be rebutted. Data shows that critics who review the show positively are themselves cat owners. This phenomenon adds to overwhelming evidence that cats and cat owners continue to contribute nothing of value to entertainment in media, to say nothing of their damage to society at large.

The audio mix of the show leaves some to be desired; it is not Dolby Surround, but the multi channel mix does occasionally provide enough depth to be acceptable.

The animation quality of the show is about as much as one could expect from any run-of-the-mill animation studio this side of Burbank. The rig physics betray what would otherwise be a decently rendered production. When Buddy lifts a park bench to look for (spoiler), the viewer has no choice but to forgive the animator for not only ignoring every law of natural physics, but also making no attempt to convince the viewer of the sheer upper body strength required for a "super kitty" to rip a 500 lb park bench from its concrete anchors.

The above is merely one example of many where I desperately wanted to be impressed with the protagonists, but just couldn't - which leads me to my criticism of the show's plot. The show barely qualifies as episodic; even the most loyal viewers will agree that the order of episodes has no bearing on the show's character or plot development. One can only hope that a more satisfying story arc will be developed next season, particularly now that Mr. Puppypaws is clearly a force to be reckoned with.

Overall, I give this show "4 scoops" of kitty litter, even though it likely needs more.

My new least favorite show
magmafroggd19 April 2024
I understand that this show is for babies, and that i'm just a young teen, but good god is this awful! Sure, the morals are good in concept, but i was really on the fence of giving this 0 stars! The morals are shoved in your face, and every episode feels the same. It bores me to tears, and every time my little sister watches it, i'm put in a bad mood. You might think to yourself: "Sure, I may not enjoy it, but it's just a show for preschoolers, it doesn't have to be enjoyable to older audiences. And that's where I bring up Bluey. Bluey is a masterpiece, and thats not even considering the standard for a toddler's show! So I won't be accepting the argument that it's a preschool show. The one thing I'll give it is it's music. The music is expertly crafted, always pleasing to the ears, and the only reason I'm giving this 2 stars instead of 0. But every other aspect is a dumpster fire. 2/10, don't let your kids watch this if you're a human with standards.

Adorable series! Even the animals that do bad things learn from their mistakes and even do good as well!
opalpika132811 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I seen this on Disney Plus and it's quite a cute series! It deals with 4 kittens: Ginny, Sparks, Buddy, and Bitsy, who whenever the hear the Kitty Call, they become Super Kitties! They help solve a problem that happens in Kittydale, which usually is caused by animals that do things that can affect the city in ways that can become a real problem. What is good about this show is it doesn't only benefit the citizens and the Super Kitties, but also the "bad guys" learn something too, and they end up doing good as well, such as the cockatiel Zsa-Zsa. When she wanted a bubble bath in Kittydale's Water Tower, she caused everything with water to become bubbles, but the Super Kitties mentioned to her about baby ducks not being able to learn to swim, she allowed the kitties to change it back into water, and also volunteered to teach the baby ducks to swim as well. Sparks hates loud noises and made headphones to cover his ears so he doesn't hear the fireworks, but when he seen that Mr. Puppypaws also hates loud noises, he gave him his headphones, as a act of being kind, which Mr. Puppypaws thanked him for doing. That is just some of what these episodes consist of, really good lessons and learning from mistakes. A very cute series to watch on Disney Plus.

I cringed.
RalfieDelites4u10 June 2023
I cringed while hearing the saying, "Oops a kitty!" What a cringeworthy saying. *barf* this is even worse than paw patrol, also considering it is a rip off of paw patrol. It's not as bad a Kitti Katz, but at the same time, I cringed more at this than I did while watching Kitti Katz. This is yet another show making fun of cats for children's' sake. It's infuriating and inappropriate for kids shows to be singling cats out and making MOSTLY good shows about dogs. It's cruel and unfair! It's offending to cat lovers all around the world. All the villains are whiny little babies like Cailou! (I may be spelling that wrong, but I'm pretty sure you know that whiny bald kid) .

Avoid these cat offending shows at all costs. -Peace out. -Ralphie Walters.

Top-notch preschool series with great messaging
EvertonDad21 March 2023
This show really raises the bar for preschool series in every way. It looks amazing. Beautiful animation. Just look at the fur on the kitties in this series and compare it to other preschool shows. They're gorgeous. The storytelling is spot on with pitch-perfect messaging about friendship, teamwork, empathy and forgiveness. It's also unbelievably cute with stellar songs, and it's something parents can watch and enjoy with their kids without losing their minds because it's smart and funny. The "brave, smart, strong, kind" mantra is a great one to impart to young kids. Best preschool show out there right now.

Finally! A show from Disney Junior that is PJ Masks done correctly!
carriewriter5 August 2023
I know you've seen those reviews: this show does remind viewers of PJ Masks, a show which I used to like but now hate because it feels like they did everything wrong. SuperKitties on the other hand does almost everything right. The SuperKitties have great personalities themselves, and so do the villains. They might get a little whiny sometimes but it never gets under my skin. And unlike the villains in PJ Masks, who do bad things just because it's evil, these villains in SuperKitties most of the time want something that's actually reasonable. They do learn from their mistakes, and this show has great lessons. Even if they use the same lessons several times in one season, I like the plots they use to teach it.

The CGI of this show is great, and it looks so smooth. After all, it's animated by Silvergate Media, the same animation studio behind Octonauts, a really good British cartoon that aired on Disney Junior in the USA. And the Peter Rabbit cartoon, a really good Canadian cartoon (well, at least I think it's a Canadian cartoon) that aired on Nick Jr. In the USA.

There are only two things in this show that aren't as good as everything else. One is the character of Pickles. You can basically say he's modern Patrick Star but more annoying. And the second one is the fact that they have to sing a villain's name the first time said villain's name is said.

Overall? This is a really good American-Canadian cartoon that I will always find time to watch some really good episodes again and again.

So cute
ygdwxd23 January 2023
Not sure why people are trying to compare this to paw patrol or PJ masks. It's not the same in the slightest. It's a super hero animal show that's not dogs or people, it's cute. My daughter has been asking for this show more than bluey as of lately, not every child likes paw patrol / PJ masks this is a more updated super hero show in my opinion, they don't have the same "equipment" as the paw patrol either so not sure why that reviewer said that. The cats have a completely different way of doing things, I'm pretty sure paw patrol doesn't use their claws or cat style to take down the bad guys. I hope they come out with merchandise soon, my daughter loves this! I've been watching the 4 episodes they have on Disney+ and can see ZERO similarities to the shows people are trying to compare it to. They have an equal amount of boy and girl cats compared to the 1 girl the other shows have. Can't wait for more episodes!

A Great Take on The Preschool Superhero Formula
jeremycrimsonfox7 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Superkitties is a new cartoon on Disney Junior and DIsney Plus that is another in the ever-growing line of preschooler-aimed superhero cartoons, and I am liking this.

In the town of Kittydale, Ginny, Buddy, Sparks, and Bitsy are four kittens who hang out in a cat-themed indoor playground. However, the four have a secret double life as the Superkitties, suiting up and heading into their secret lair when an animal sounds the alarm. Together, the four learn lessons while stopping villains like Cat Burglar, Mr. Puppypaws, and Rab Lab.

I am going to say that this is another great superhero series. The Superkitties are adorable, and their powers are amazing (like Buddy's Furball Blitz, which reminds me of Sonic the Hedgehog's Spindash), and each episode actually ends with the villain learning the error of their ways, as their plot somehow connects to a problem one of the Superkitties has, and the Superkitty in questions helps him/her. This makes Superkitties different from other superhero shows, and I like that idea. The voice acting is sweet, and the writing is good.

An Adorable Show
carlwyane21 March 2023
Like I said it is an adorable and decent show. Not the best show, but decent. It teaches good lessons that even the bad guys learn from. There is no hitting or fighting. It might get boring for kids over 8.

Oh I forgot to mention to the person who said that this is a ripoff of Paw Patrol and Puppy Play Pals is lying. They're nothing a like. This is why you need to check out a show cause reviewers be lying sometimes. Anyway it's cute and does have some stuff I like, but can also be boring, but it is for preschoolers. One person said it's simple, but it's a preschool show. All of them are simple. And I can't believe one viewer made so much bs in their post. There is no data that proves only cat owners love this show. Bold to assume that a person only like this show cause of cats. They're could be many reasons why. Liking a show doesn't prove any damage to a society. Cats and cat owners don't damage society. Buddy isn't obese and why are they questioning logic in a preschool show?

Such Cute Characters And Plot!
charcoalsies16 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I've watched almost all the episodes up to the current one, and my opinion has changed a tad.

For starters, Bitsy is a very good character with very well thought out character development. When she makes mistakes, she learns from them, and it helps her not to repeat those same mistakes as before. She uses each new lesson to help her be a better teammate, and hero, in general. I also find it nice that they include Bitsy reciting the lesson learned at the end of each episode. She is an amazing character overall. And she is also very patient, like with Pickles whenever she (or he) would try to help the Superkitties on their mission, and end up failing to do so each time.

Second up, Ginny. The leader of the Superkitties. Ginny is a little bit much sometimes, like during the cheese episode, where she was terrified to get sticky. However, she is overall an amazing and well-written character. She leads her team well, and she braves her fears in order to help them, and the whole of Kittydale. She messes up on missions, sure, but she acknowledges her mistakes and learns from them, like Bitsy. She is also very persistent, and won't give up on her goals, like in the episode, "Lab Rat Lift-off."

Next up, Sparks. Sparks, the braniac of the group. He's very smart and a tech guy. He likes to make inventions for the team to help on missions, such as the Kitty Copter, which the Super Kity Kit transforms into on command. He also built the main tech that allows them to recieve calls from the animals of Kittydale, whenever they need help or are in trouble. He is a very good brother to Buddy, and, instead of lashing out when Buddy broke the Super Kitty Kit, calmly told him it was ok, and that he still wants brother time with him. He also cares very much for his friends and his brother, going as far as to put a tracker onto Bitsy's stuffed mouse, "Mr. Greenie", as he knows how much she loves him. He also was very kind towards Mr. Puppypaws in the fireworks episode, letting him have his ear protectors.

Lastly, Buddy. He's an overall decent character. He's sweet, caring, and kind. He is also a very loving brother, and often shows affection by snuggling up with him, or as they call it, "Brother Time." In the episode where Buddy accidentally broke the Super Kitty Kit, he feels awful and is scared Sparks might not want brother time anymore if he finds out. However, when he realizes he needs to tell him, he tries to, but Sparks ends up crashing, and that leads up to Buddy apologizing, and saying, "I guess you won't want brother time with me anymore." (Or whatever he said). Anyways, Sparks wasn't mad, and he forgave his brother, because he cares for him very much. Buddy is also a bit of a goofball, but he still is a very good member of the team despite some weaknesses he may have.

This show teaches kids life lessons they should know as they grow up, and it shows how teamwork can help solve problems. The lessons learned each episode are perfectly shown, and the villains in the show aren't really villains, as they always have a reason for what they do. They end up realizing when they are wrong, and apologize for whatever they did, and in some cases, try to make up for it. The fact the villains learn from mistakes is a very good aspect that kids should see on TV shows, instead of the ones where villains are portrayed as pure evil and unredeemable.

Anyways, another thing is, the plot is very well executed and thought out. Each episode is unique, and isn't a copy of PAW Patrol, as I've watched enough episodes to know if it copied the show in any way really. Sure, they are animals with superpowers, but PAW Patrol doesn't own that concept, so... Yeah. A very original plot, and very well executed.

One more thing: The songs are beautiful, and the voice actors are perfect for their roles! Some voices can be overtly annoying, such as Cat Burglar's and Zsa Zsa's. But, it is refreshing to hear their voices once in a while I suppose. Also I like the fact their are 4 different villains. It's very diverse in the villains, too. The villains consist of: Lab Rat, a Rat (As stated in her name) with her sidekick Otto, Zsa Zsa the cockatoo and her minions, Cat Burglar, and Mr. Puppypaws. But anyways, the songs blend well with the theme of this show, being superhero cats that help maintain balance in the town of Kittydale, and the voice actors do quite an amazing job too.

I Love Super Kitties!
FluffyBlueyGreenie8 March 2023
Super Kitties is a great show! It does have some instances were it might copy PJ Masks, Paw Patrol, or other super hero shows, but the Super Kitties are Adorable! And each of them have special powers when they become super heros Ginny has the ability to cling to walls with her super claws and is the main member of the group, Sparks has the ability to fly by using an invention called the Super Kitty Hoverboard that can also turn into a helicopter and is the brainiac of the group constantly making inventions, Buddy has the ability to lift up heavy things and can turn into a ball, and being the biggest and strongest of the group and finally Bitsy has the ability to run really fast with her Bitsy Boots and is the smallest and the cutest of the group. Their are villains like Lab Rat+Otto, Zsa Zsa, Mr. Puppy Paws, Cat Burglar, etc, but at the very end of the episode they apologize and tell the Super Kitties why they stole an item, shut something down, etc It's usually because there trying to help someone else out, and that is why they do their villains acts. But I love Super Kitties nonetheless! It's a great show! Thanks For Reading My Review, and Have An Awesome Day!

Making a Leap in What's Capable of a "Kid's Show"
wholesome-2673015 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Let me set the stage: I am not the target audience for this show. My favourite music genre is rock, my favourite songs are about dark concepts with a heavy guitar. I love Olivia Rodrigo, Maretu, artists like that. Some of my favourite games are Omori, Doki Doki Literature Club, and Dark Deception. One of my favourite shows is Madoka Magica. Heck, I write dark and extremely angsty stories for a somewhat sadistic reason. And I freaking LOVE this show.

It's so good! It's basically a show about a team of cats- Ginny(the leader), Sparks(the tech guy), Buddy(the strong one), and Bitsy(the speedster)- who run around and save animals in trouble in Kittydale from the antagonist of the week. Either being Cat Burglar, a theif who steals items and who's extremely fast and agile, Mr. Puppypaws, a pampered and very cheeky dog who has a stroll with amazing capabilities, Zsa-Zsa, a self-absorbed cockatoo with a squad of budgies who uses purfumes and other such substances to create "potions" to get her way, and Lab Rat, a self-proclaimed genius with a partner named Otto, who is an octopus.

The connections between the problem of the week, how the superkitties deal with the problem, and how the antagonists deal with the problem, is super well done! It shows kids how, often, the right way to deal with a problem is to consider how they would feel if someone did something negative to them. Many of the antagonists are misunderstood, they're often acting out because they're not sure what else to do. It takes the superkitties in order to steer them in the right direction!

The stories are fantastic! The characters are great, the music hits every time, and the characters suddenly bursting into song never feels unwaranted or uneeded, and it happens so unfrequently, you kind of start to miss the random musical numbers. I love how non-quickly everything gets resolved, because people, especially adults without experience with kids, often forget that kids see a small problem as something big. The show takes its time to understand that these are big problems to children, and to show them tools useful to help them deal with those problems. I never felt like the show was talking down to its audience, as even the little "what did we learn today?" segments from Bitsy are more like "just in case you missed the sublety" rather than "DO YOU GET IT THIS IS THE MESSAGE WEE WOO GIANT SIREN GOING OFF BANGING POTS MESSAGE TIME DO YOU UNDERSTAND" and I love that!

I love the characters! My favourite is Sparks, he just sticks out to me the most, and Otto comes in a close second. I do think everyone is well-written and sympathetic, and you come to learn how the antagonist's brains function over the course of the show, which adds to their personalities. The characters are written to not have that much depth to them, which although is a general complaint in any other show, the way this show does it is expertful. This is not the writers' first rodeo, so they trick your brain into thinking these characters are deeper than they actually are, which is brilliant!

If I had any "complaint", it's that I wish that the show was much less episodic. We have plot lines with Bitsy and the birds, Buddy and Sparks and how they manage the perils of brotherhood, Cat Burglar and his grandma Caterina, and Lab Rat and Otto's friendship, however that's about it. But I personally prefer plot-driven shows, so this is less of a complaint and more of personal taste.

I will unabashedly admit that this show nearly made me cry two times. THAT is how you know this is something special. As a cat lover who also is into anthropormorphism, super hero stuff, and plots with well-written misunderstood antagonists, this show checks all those boxes! I wish I had this show while growing up, I'm kind of jealous of kids these days!

This show is setting a new standard for shows between the 3-7 age range. Dynamic characters, well-structured plots, great writing that borders on amazing most days, a great score with some dang good singing, and much more! Representation can be found everywhere, and what's better is that it's not in your face. When people say we need better representation, THIS is what they're talking about. Mentioned once, it's apart of the regular world, now let's save some animals! It puts a smile to my face.

If I had kids, I'd totally watch this show with them. People get things wrong when they say it's a "kid's show". Sure, the age demographic is 3-7, but, in reality, it's for everybody. Superkitties is a FAMILY show, and that is its biggest strength. It's a family show for cat lovers, animal lovers, super hero lovers, and everybody in between! We've never gotten a family show where the focus was cats before, so this is a treat! That one Puss in Boots show on Netflix doesn't count. There's something here for everyone! Kids can watch it for the cool colours, great messages, and investing episodic plots. Teenagers can watch it for comfort value, a great way to see cats doing cute things, and can even take something out of it. Adults can watch it for wholesome simplicity, awesome teachings and messages, and great animation.

This show is incredible. I'm giving it a 10/10, and am firm in my opinion that this is the show that you need to show your kids. And I'm going to take these messages to heart.

Super!
raben-8114613 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Cats are now a big thing from Youtube shorts to memes. Disney Plus is growing in new animated shows for kids and teens from Star Wars spin offs to this new show called Superkitties that is a mix of Paw Patrol and The Incredibles with a lesson to end it all in Friendship is Magic in the early seasons. Four kittens is on their everyday mission to save the city, as the kitties go in their super mode outfits. The animation is nice for an 10 minutes per each episodes, as the fictive city is fitting for some super hero action that ranks from nice parks to the hidden superhero quarters. But, this was meant to sell toys and Disneyland tickets and there are some dated jokes and callbacks. Beside that this a must watch for kids that have Disney Plus.
