Too Bad This Show Got Canceled!
Sylviastel6 January 2013
This show is the anti of Shahs of Sunset on another station. First, this reality show is set in Dearborn, Michigan and features a realistic group of Muslims with everyday problems. The American Muslims here are more real, believable, and sympathetic. We could have learned a lot more about the faith and their differences. Instead of being enlightened, the show faced harsh criticism and was canceled. Too bad, it didn't live to see another show called the Shahs of Sunset where spoiled brats from Beverly Hills, Persian Muslims and Persian Jews, have a close circle of friend and spend their money foolishly, getting drunk at parties, and behaving badly. This show was the complete opposite where they seemed to struggle with their daily lives with everyday ordinary problems. Sadly, this show was shelved for too much controversy. I can't understand how the other show doesn't get the same flack for being over the top. Where TLC could have made a difference, it got shelved because of controversy. Most people would have agreed that it was better than it's successor.

A great series

Warning: Spoilers
I enjoyed watching it even though I live in Russia. It was very interesting to see how the two great cultures meet to blend in each other in the city of Dearborn.

The Zabans and the Aoudes are the two great families. They keep a perfect balance between western open-mindedness and adherence to their religious tradition. Nader and Nawal are great parents, I hope Nawal gets adjusted to her role soon. I also wish best of luck to coach Zaban, his family and team.

The Jaafars and the Bazzy-Aliahmads are interesting families too. The pity is that you usually only see Mike and Nina without their families' members. It was quite brave of Nina's husband to support her venture despite everyone else though I'd say they could find a much better use for their persistence.

The Amens are a big friendly family. It's amazing how different they all are. I hope everything will be good with Jeff and Shadia and Mohsen and Lila will see more grandchildren soon.

Too bad that they stopped airing the series. It'd be great to see where the families are now, whether Sue moved from her parents or not, etc. I hope to see the series revived some day.
