Lawmen wrapped its first season on Paramount+ earlier this month and told the story of the legendary Bass Reeves. The plan is to move on to a new historical lawman for each season of the anthology series, but series creator Chad Feehan hopes to tell more of Reeves' story.
Starring David Oyelowo, Lauren E. Banks, Forrest Goodluck, Barry Pepper, Demi Singleton, Donald Sutherland, Dennis Quaid, Joaquina Kalukango, Lonnie Chavis, Rob Morgan, Ryan O’Nan, Grantham Coleman, and Justin Hurtt-Dunkley, the season follows the origins of Reeves, following his journey from slave to the legendary lawman who inspired the story of the Lone Ranger.

“Lawmen: Bass Reeves” just wrapped on Paramount+. And while the streamer has yet to announce whether it will be coming back for another season, the show’s creator Chad Feehan is absolutely ready to come back.
“I intentionally left some meat on the bone in case we got to this point. Bass’s life is so incredible and it’s so expansive, there is no way that we could hit every major benchmark in his life in 8 or 10 hours or else it would’ve felt almost like a procedural,” Feehan told TheWrap.
And noting the story of the real-life Reeves being forced to arrest his own son in part to save his life, Feehan adds, “I would love to tell that story.”
“Lawman: Bass Reeves” is based on the life of Bass Reeves (played on the show by David Oyelowo), a former slave who became the first Black deputy U.

It’s not quite Christmas yet, but there are plenty of offerings that will make you want to cozy up with your favorite family member – everything from highly anticipated YA adaptation “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” to Bradley Cooper’s new movie “Maestro” to an outer space epic courtesy of Zack Snyder (“Rebel Moon”). There’s also a new BTS documentary series (“BTS Monuments: Beyond the Star”) and the long-awaited return of “Marvel’s What If … ?” and “Dr. Death.” Plus the season finale of “Lawmen: Bass Reeves” (we think) and the series finale of “Archer” (for real this time). And your next K-drama obsession (“Gyeongseong Creature”).

Writer and showrunner Taylor Sheridan is known for creatively exploring and highlighting aspects of American history and culture in his many acclaimed works, ranging from TV series like "Yellowstone" to movies like "Sicario." His most recent project, "Lawmen: Bass Reeves," tells the story of Bass Reeves, a great American legend and Western frontier figure who was the first Black deputy US marshal west of the Mississippi River. In the series, "Selma" actor David Oyelowo plays the role of Reeves alongside a stacked ensemble that includes Dennis Quaid and Donald Sutherland.
The story of Bass Reeves is remarkable: the real figure behind the dramatized series was born into slavery and, according to some reports, managed to capture more than 3,000 outlaws throughout his career as a deputy US marshal, all while enduring the hardships of racism and prejudice in a post-Civil War America. "I think that audiences today need to see stories of triumph,...

This article contains no spoilers for Lawmen: Bass Reeves but does discuss details of the real Bass Reeve’s story.
While audiences have fallen in love with Yellowstone (and perhaps a little out of love since the delay in production due to the myriad of Hollywood strikes and behind-the-scenes drama of the show), its storytelling universe has grown exponentially. With all the proposed spinoffs and pre-existing prequels, fans are now looking at nearly half a dozen shows within this amazing world that reminds Americans about their bearish beginnings and how the West was really formed. Yet none of the cowboy inspired chaos and horse-driven drama is grounded in reality as much as the newly-released Lawmen: Bass Reeves, which is produced by Yellowstone‘s Taylor Sheridan and created by Chad Feehan.

Legendary lawman of the Old West Bass Reeves is often considered the inspiration for the iconic Lone Ranger. But Reeves’ own story is just as captivating, perhaps more so because it’s true. Now, 113 years after his death, the first Black deputy U.S. marshal west of the Mississippi finally gets top billing. David Oyelowo stars as Reeves in this new drama series executive produced by Yellowstone and Mayor of Kingstown cocreator Taylor Sheridan. Born into slavery, Reeves was forced to fight for the Confederacy during the Civil War. At one point, he escaped and spent years living with Native Americans and learning their languages. It was a skill that helped him get recruited as a deputy marshal in Arkansas after the passage of the 13th Amendment, which abolished slavery. Over a 32-year career, Reeves arrested thousands of felons—more than 3,000, by some accounts—without ever suffering a wound. The...

The character of Roberto, the homicidal robot, first appeared on the "Futurama" episode "Mother's Day", although he would become more of a star in the following season's "Insane in the Mainframe". Roberto, played by the amazing Dave Herman, was a vicious criminal often frustrated that he was programmed to be as violent as he was. He had a penchant for stabbing, and rarely spent much time outside of robot prisons and/or mental asylums. Roberto once forced Bender (John Dimaggio) and Fry (Billy West) to help him with a bank robbery, broke into Planet Express to take the main characters hostage, and escaped from an asylum by wearing the robotic skin of his doctor. "Don't call me crazy!" he would yell, "I'm just not user-friendly!" His parole officer once ordered Roberto to get an upgrade, otherwise, he wouldn't get back his stabbin' knife.
Roberto eventually even had a catchphrase of sorts.

Your next Taylor Sheridan obsession is nearly here. Paramount+ has just revealed the first trailer for “Lawean: Bass Reeves,” starring and produced by David Oyelowo, as well as the premiere date for the new series – Nov. 5. You can watch the trailer above.
Based on the true story of Bass Reeves, one of the first Black deputy U.S. marshals west of the Mississippi River (and the likely inspiration for the Lone Ranger), this is also the beginning of a new anthology series from Sheridan that will look at different law men through history.
Sheridan, of course, is the creator and overseer of “Yellowstone” and its various offshoots and other Paramount+ blockbusters like “Mayor of Kingstown,” “Tulsa King” and the recent “Special Ops: Lioness.” Chad Feehan created “Lawmen: Bass Reeves,” which at one point was being eyed (and was even announced) as a spin-off of “1883,” before becoming its own series (and potential franchise).

What’s a hilarious medley of Black friends to do when they’re cruelly placed in a slasher, a genre notorious for killing off Black characters before the real gore even begins? They can’t all die first! In Tim Story’s brazenly meta-horror comedy The Blackening, co-writers Tracy Oliver and Dewayne Perkins amplify the latter’s 2018 Comedy Central sketch to a whole new level. A film just as devoted to its roaring one-liners and deadpan physical comedy as it is bold with a serious take on culture crisis, The Blackening proudly boasts its slasher-parody outline and makes the narrative transparently personal for its people.
Spoilers Ahead
Plot Synopsis: What Happens In ‘The Blackening’?
Well, they may not all die, but since when has a slasher cold-open been merciful to a couple staying in a cabin in the middle of nowhere? The only thing that stands out in the case...

Starting his career in an uncredited role in as a henchman in the Dean Martin/ Matt Helm movie The Wrecking Crew, Chuck Norris really burst onto the scene fighting Bruce Lee in a Roman Coliseum in The Way of the Dragon. Since then, Chuck Norris has had a career filled with action scenes, loud guns, and roundhouse kicks. He was a mainstay of 1980s action films and was even brought in as a sort of savior for the others in The Expendables 2. While he’s mostly retired now, everyone still knows who he is, and Chuck Norris jokes have honored him for years. After a solid deep dive of the man’s movies, here are what we consider the best Chuck Norris movies:
The Octagon (1980)
Starting off a decade of plenty for Mr. Norris, The Octagon is one of those films that feels very much like he owns it.

It will take the entire hiatus to recover from the emotional rollercoaster that was this supersized finale.
There was so much bittersweetness to 9-1-1: Lone Star Season 4 Episode 17 and 9-1-1: Lone Star Season 4 Episode 18 as we hit impossible highs, experienced devastating lows, celebrated and mourned, and loved and lost.
At the center of it was Tarlos' highly-anticipated wedding that's been seasons in the making.
But first, we have to pour some tequila out for Gabriel Reyes. The speculation and fan theories were correct, and we did lose the Reyes patriarch by the close of the first hour.
He's been this influential, wonderfully complex, rich character, and his loss will be felt from now on. To say I'm angry about it doesn't do it justice. The series relies too heavily on shocking deaths to move the narrative forward.

Disney, as a studio that has been around for a full century, is known broadly as one of the most successful entertainment companies in history. The number of classic films the House of Mouse has produced is staggering, and the hits far outweigh the misses. Although Disney has missed and missed big on a few occasions, with 2013's "The Lone Ranger" ranking as one of the biggest of those big misses. So much so that one could argue that it's among the biggest box office bombs in history -- not just limited to Disney. At the height of Johnny Depp's superstardom, this was a grand misfire for the ages.

"Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always" is the anniversary special "Power Rangers" fans have been dreaming about for years. While we've had many special episodes throughout the decades, including massive crossover battles involving most Red Rangers (of the time), or different Rangers teams fighting together, this is the first time the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers team has come back, and for a special that is specifically about them. That is, the franchise's first iteration, before it started adapting a different "Super Sentai" show with an entirely different cast, team, and theme song every season.
"Once & Always" pays homage to fallen Rangers, with a lovely and rather emotional tribute to Jason David Frank and Thuy Trang. Trang's character Trini, in particular, is central to the story of the special, with the death of Trini forever impacting the team, and inspiring her daughter Minh to pick up the mantle of the Yellow Ranger.

As the saying goes, you can take the man out of Texas … but apparently he’ll drag an arsenal of Lone Star State clichés wherever he goes, at least in “One Ranger.” Stuntman turned writer-director Jesse V. Johnson’s latest action programmer has Thomas Jane as a Texas Ranger so ornery-tough he makes even Chuck Norris look too nice, called upon to chase terrorists overseas for no obvious reason at all. Well, perhaps the reason is simply to indulge some viewers’ notion that Texamurricans just naturally shoot ’n’ smack them foreign evildoers better. Those not buying such logic will find this mediocre effort ridiculous as well as uninspired. Lionsgate is releasing the feature to 11 U.S. theaters as well as digital and on-demand platforms on May 5.

"Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always" is everything fans could have hoped for in a celebration of 30 years of "Power Rangers." This is a special that is full of fanservice, Easter eggs from even the deepest of deep cuts from across "Power Rangers" lore, and all sorts of cheesy jokes and cool martial arts moves — including Hip-Hop kido.
"Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always" takes place after the death of one of the Rangers, with the rest mourning a loss of one of their own as Rita Repulsa returns in a new robot body to wreak chaos across the globe. Meanwhile, a new Ranger rises to take the mantle of the old generation, because Power Rangers are forever.
This is a special full of cool moments and loving homages to the franchise, including a rather emotional coda that pays tribute to two fallen rangers, Jason David Frank and Thuy Trang.

The Lone Ranger introduced Clayton Moore in the titular role. Despite the fact that the character hid his identity behind a mask made out of his dead brother’s clothing, the actor still became known for the role. Nevertheless, The Lone Ranger Season 3 went ahead without Moore for the year and replaced him with John Hart for very specific reasoning that the actor later opened up about.

Actor Clayton Moore became an iconic figure in television history thanks to his portrayal in The Lone Ranger. His adventures in this Western drew audiences in for its five-season run that expanded beyond its medium. However, the image of the Lone Ranger’s costume is especially what continues to stick in the mind of its longtime fans. Moore once explained that he designed the costume himself.

Movie star John Wayne and The Lone Ranger actor Clayton Moore both held a strong foothold in the Western genre. One operated in film, while the other was recognized for his television appearance. Nevertheless, Wayne and Moore strongly agreed when it came to their criticisms of how Hollywood pushed entertainment to meet audience expectations.

Wayne first entered the scene when he started working in the props department on the Fox lot. It allowed him to cross paths with film directors, such as John Ford and Raoul Walsh. He earned his first leading role in 1930’s The Big Trail, which later granted him 1939’s Stagecoach. Wayne’s popularity went sky-high, becoming the face of the Western genre.

The Lone Ranger is one of the most iconic Western television shows ever to hit the air. However, it certainly didn’t receive the same amount of love when it came to certain audiences. The Lone Rangers only received three awards nominations over the course of its existence, starting in 1949 until its end after season 5 in 1957. The show never earned a single award, but it’ll always have the following nominations under its belt.
The plot follows a former Texas Ranger known as the Lone Ranger, played by Clayton Moore. After his brother and fellow lawmen die in an ambush, a Native American man he once saved named Tonto (Jay Silverheels) returns the favor. Wearing a piece of his brother’s clothing as a mask, the Lone Ranger fights outlaws along with Tonto across the Old West.

The Lone Ranger went through an array of iterations before it arrived at its final script. There were moments of brilliance, but also some serious missteps that could have resulted in the show never taking off. The first script of The Lone Ranger was so violent that there was no way that the Western would have made it to the air in any medium.

This The Simpsons review contains spoilers.
The Simpsons Season 34 Episode 14
The Simpsons presents an educational coming-of-middle-age story in “Carl Carlson Rides Again,” with both the character and the series looking for love, and finding an identity. The opening sequence moves very fast, skipping the couch gag, to get to the love story. But the initial scam is a Homer special, and quite delicious in its benevolent malice of forethought. It should come with free hats. It is better, however, that it is dropped quickly, because a subplot would have overburdened the episode.
Homer’s envisioning of a “breakfast meal train” is a classic aside, and Marge’s attempts to make him stop stroking the chin harken back to the silliness of older episodes. But Carl’s journey is a serious one, and Alex Désert finds his voice in the episode. This is the most lines he’s gotten in his run on the series,...

Starring on That ’70s Show as Red Forman was one of the highlights of Kurtwood Smith’s decorated acting career for both professional and personal reasons. The now 79-year-old actor has told the press that the character of Red really hit home for him as the character always reminded him of his stepfather. Sadly, Smith’s stepdad passed away right before the first season of That ’70s Show aired.
Debra Jo Rupp, who played opposite Smith as Red’s wife, Kitty, also drew inspiration for her character through her own parental figures stating that Kitty was very much her mother. While Rupp and Smith had a natural rapport on the show, Rupp has recently revealed that she was quite nervous around Smith on the first season of That ’70s Show. Here’s why.

Taylor Sheridan’s “Yellowstone” might be in hibernation but that doesn’t mean that you are totally deprived of Dutton-related drama, as prequel series “1923” is currently streaming. It’s full of all the things that make “Yellowstone” so special – frontier justice, cowboys, big movie stars and a surprising amount of pistol whipping.
“1923” picks up after the events of “1883.” Harrison Ford plays Jacob Dutton, the brother of James Dutton (Tim McGraw’s character on “1883”). After James and Margaret (Faith Hill) passed away, Jacob and his wife Cara (Helen Mirren) take the boys in. Jack Dutton (Darren Mann) is the dedicated cowboy and ranchman while Spencer Dutton (Brandon Sklenar), having Ptsd from World War I, retreats to Africa to hunt big game. In a very real way we are seeing the beginnings of the Yellowstone ranch, not just in the buildings but in the craggy philosophy and the psychic trauma that seems to permeate the soil.

Unicorn Wars: "It’s Bambi meets Apocalypse Now in this provocative and strangely beautiful horror comedy from acclaimed filmmaker and illustrator Alberto Vazquez (Birdboy: The Forgotten Children), who uses its outrageous candy-colored premise to explore religious zealotry, the tortured legacies of military fascism, and the depths of the soul.
For ages, teddy bears have been locked in an ancestral war against their sworn enemy, the unicorns, with the promise that victory will complete the prophecy and usher in a new era. Aggressive, confident teddy bear Bluet and his sensitive, withdrawn brother Tubby could not be more different. As the rigors and humiliation of teddy bear bootcamp turn to the psychedelic horrors of a combat tour in the Magic Forest, their complicated history and increasingly strained relationship will come to determine the fate of the entire war."
