Is this "German Pie"?
keikoyoshikawa29 May 2023
"Hammerharte Jungs" is a weird teen comedy, even by German standard. "American Pie" it is not, but it might be an almost worthy German version. Almost.

The Good: Lacking an ensemble cast, instead we get childhood buddies Paula and Charly, two high schoolers with talking genitals. Yes, it's weird. Lacking in sexual experience, they are egged on by their eager talking organs to lose their virginity. Somewhat comedic moments ensue.

The Bad: And that's the main problem with this movie. Moments and situations that should have been played for comedy somehow got too serious and suddenly very unfunny. The end result is something much less than "American Pie," and instead just another teen drama.

And then there's a strange side story about Charly's parents.

Probably this movie was misclassified as a comedy. As a drama, however, it is not bad. Real-life situations and problems of high school life are worthy subjects and had the "comedic" talking genitals been cut out, "Hard Feelings" would have earned more stars.

8 stars for tackling real issues minus 2 stars for misplaced comedy.

No hard feelings
kosmasp2 June 2023
No pun intended - also as I said to one of the previous movies (this being a sort of "reboot" or rather re-imagening of the story the other two movies told - well the core of those stories/movies that is) - two can play that game - or talk big game ... talk to their genitalia that is. I reckon you could accuse this of being woke ... and it does try to satisfy both genders (no pun ... detected I assume).

Still there are enough crazy things going on ... suspension of disbelief is elementary as you might imagine. This is aimed at a younger audience and it might do the trick for them. It is quite decent I reckon ... some of the actors of the previous movies (franchise?) return ... though it is unclear if they play the same characters ... I guess not, it is not like they mention stuff from the other movies or anything ... still nice to see them ... maybe becoming adults made them forget stuff ... I am kind of kidding of course.

Gets to much hate
ThatGuy_4203 January 2024
I think the only reason most people don't like this movie is because it's German, and that's really childish like come on it's a good movie, one of the best German ones, I mean it's not "all quiet on the western front" but cut it some slack. I feel like most people reviewing this movie is 25yrs + and they say it's a bad teen movie. As a teen myself I approve of this movie, it might be a little to much sexual activity , but I can look aside that. The main characters I did truly like they are played by good actors and they deliver them well. It was a really weird movie, but a fun time none the less.

Embarrassing attempt at teen sex-comedy
johannes2000-127 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I expected a German version of American Pie, a silly teen-comedy with some of the usual hilarious sexual situations and jokes. Well, I guess I got it, but I never expected it to be so excruciatingly awkward and tacky. The German title "Hammerharte Jungs" should have warned me: "Hammer Hard Boys" doesn't exactly sound subtle, and it more or less covers the rest of this movie, at least as far as I could endure it.

So what's it all about? The two main characters (a sheepish boy and a girl, both virgins, who apparently are in love with each other but don't dare to come forward) are suddenly struck by lightning (literally) and the boy finds out that from that moment on magically his penis can talk. Really, I kid you not! And he can talk back to his penis, so complete conversations start, with the penis giving sexual advise and comments that are all extremely raunchy - a bit as if you hear American Pie's Stifler talking through the boy's penis. It gets even more tacky: since the penis goes more or less rampant, the boy gets enormous erections in public and in no-time becomes the hero of the school, nick-named "Boner-boy". Oh, I almost forgot, by the same magic incident the girls' vagina can suddenly talk too, so with her it's basically the same story.

Well, from then on it only goes more and more downhill, and exhausted by too much embarrassment I finally threw in the towel. It's probably my fault, since I'm a simple boring adult, and most certainly not the kind of person that the makers aimed at. I wouldn't be surprised if teens love it. There's no accounting for tastes anyway.

Against all evidences, I like it. Sure, modest in many senses, too simplistic, pale copy of American Pie, it is the gift to remind the basic traits of teen life and the high school hypocrisies. But, more important, I like it for be just simple amusing comedy and for the lead actors who are not bad at whole in their roles, reminding long term friendships, cruelty and gossips around them, the imaginary friend in kynky version and the foreign student change in new perspective.

In short, a fine easy comedy, not exactly for present teenagers but for nostalgics of the teen comedies of the begining of century, maybe for some Adam sandler.

So, my opinion is simple and clear - just a pretty nice film- with some frontal exposure as chery on top.

It reminds me of movies that can find their way
horadeLafAlda27 May 2023
I asked my wife if she had ever been watching a bad movie but kept watching hoping that it will get better..but it never does?

This is that kind of movie, it had many opportunities to be more interesting or substantial, but it kept scattering in multiple direction, some quite implausible (Paula on the bridge??) At that age we were all very confused, lost, turkeys as my principal used to call us. Charly seems to be from another planet, not funny I have to give the writers credit for getting the correct name of a woman's external genitalia . It is "vulva" NOT VAGINA, and for the emphasis on solidarity with and not judguing our peers instead of shaming and humiliating them. I am not sure that our adolescents will enjoy this movie as one of the reviewers suggested.

Germany?, Really?.
phildeesnow25 May 2023
Can't wait to read what other people thought about this.

I'm going to write my thoughts and maybe an opinion.

I can't believe, that a country as open in their sexuality as Germany made this movie. I wasn't expecting hardcore, but considering that I've seen t.v commercials in Germany that include unnecessary nudity this seems to be a Sunday morning for kids.

It's supposed to be about sex and the hormonal rage in your teen years. But other than the language there's nothing you haven't seen before.

There's no nudity, well...just buttocks, but considering that is about genitals talking to their people you might imagine it was going to be funny...but it's not.

Tries to give you the American Pie vibe, but it's more like the Adam Sandler movies.

If you like the idea of genitals talking, you are better off watching Big Mouth... At least that cartoon series is funny and much daring and bold.

horrible acting, dialogue, message and delivery
avalossolava-3923421 August 2023
See above. Overall, pretty bad. Its looking for a cheap way to get a laugh and to deliver a message. I think this is made for teens but even then, this would insult their intelligence. Pretty outdated cliches. Waste of a good hour and a half. Like I said. "horrible acting, dialogue, message and delivery". The soundtrack is not very good as well. This movie has seen some new actors and i think maybe they will learn from this experience. If you want to look at a movie of this caliber or better, just stick with older 90s teen comedies as this movie are this much comparable to. Yes, i am serious, this is comparable to a 90s teen comedy, but way worse..

A Disappointing Comedy Lacking Depth and Respect
R4ndom5tranger31 May 2023
Unfortunately, "Hard Feelings" falls short of its superficial presentation. The sexist undertones are evident and contribute equally to both the amusement and alienation of the audience. The film relies on cheap jokes at the expense of women and perpetuates stereotypical notions of masculinity. Instead of offering intelligent humor, the film sinks into disrespectful and unimaginative moments.

Even if one assumes the film's intention is to parody questionable male images, it still misses the opportunity to deconstruct or question these clichés in a humorous way. Instead, it remains superficial and delivers a stale portrayal of gender roles.

Overall, "Hard Feelings" is a disappointing comedy that is clichéd, sexist, and tailored for toilet humor. It lacks an intelligent approach to dealing with the themes at hand. For a wide audience that values respectful and sophisticated entertainment, this film is definitely not recommended. The sexist overtones and shallow humor are major drawbacks.

An fantastic masterpiece of a movie!!!
edcnicholas7 March 2024
This has to be one of the best films I've viewed in a long time. Firstly, it's funny as heck, with it showcasing life as a teen who's experiencing puberty. It admittedly get's less funny as the film progresses, but that's only due to the wider focus on the storyline and so is no reason to critique this movie. There's plenty of comedic value to be had, although the entire subject of comedic value is subjective in itself. The acting is well done, with many scenes and cinematic effects foreshadowing what's to come in the film. It can make it predictable but in a predictably humorous way. There are some negatives to this movie which I won't outline here, but overall it was thoroughly engaging and enjoyable to watch.

If you don't see it you haven't missed anything

Warning: Spoilers
The humor is cliche and sophomoric. Contains talking penises and vaginas has almost main characters A young man is being bullied and the movie makes fun of that which seems to be part of the central theme. Homosexuality is made to be like a joke and demonized. Early in the movie there is a scene of his parents staring at the boy's penis It's just too weird even for a stupid movie like this. Overall I've seen worse movies, but this is at the bottom of the barrel. Maybe the humor translates better for the country it was made in. But I seriously doubt it. I'd give it zero stars if it was possible.

Good story coarsely given
greekdx24 August 2023
This is a German movies I seen that shows in a coarse way two pals who are in the last class of high school and feeling now is the time of making love. In a sudden their sexual members start talking to them in an even more raunchy and quite stupid way that in part inhibits to do their classes with some stupid actions. Thankfully they were enough smart to get back before they were more ridiculed.

The story is very interesting with lots of good morals but the way it is given is more than raunchy putting the movie IQ to the floor level . For example we see his member rotating in front of other classmates or in the orchestra. Getting viral in the social media supposedly tik tok was the good side effect for him. Instead, his girlfriend was called as hooker and was ridiculed well. You can fancy what happened then. I can only notice the Greek expression make a mountain out of a molehill as translated into English. The class mates have a good motto "no more shaming" mentioned in English , which always was broken

The end is relatively better and quite predictable. A fast paced movie with some interesting twists Limited hidden nudity with much of overacting

Story : 6 and quite cute Implementation: 2 /10.
