Let me start out that the story is simple and it looks as if it can teach kids different points of views. So I would say that part of this feature was okay.
I am pushing here trying to understand where the writer is going with this as educational entertainment for kids. The understanding being that this show is entertainment and either by accident, or on purpose, teaching something to the viewers.
Tori's sister Trina is hurt in an "accident" during Tori's first directing gig who was blackmailed buy her sister (Trina) to gain the lead role. So Tori is suspect of attempted murder. Other elements of hate and anger towards each other are added.
Sadly we see kids who like or tolerate each other but do not really care at all for each other and who are only held together by an interest in acting and singing. Each has their own motives making this a who dun nit episode.
Spoiler: After everyone admits that this was an accident due to faulty, old equipment and that no one there would actually try to kill Trina we go to a unfunny and very disturbing scene where we learn that Rex (the puppet) did it for revenge. This is highlighted by the missing laugh tracks used during the episode. Robby covered for Rex showing some very dark and deep rooted issues inside Robby via Rex. Very much like Anthony Hopkins role in Magic 1978. Rex even uses the word "puppet" (like a foul word) which he hates being called, but states it is okay if he says it. Even Robby's own low self esteem is shown when, in his telling of events, show that the girls are fighting over him. Issues that Hopkins character had when dealing with the opposite sex. This is someone you do not want to have your kids go to school with, idolized or pity for. But yet he is written this way into the story and is an example for kids to be like? I don't think so. I have seen other shows written by its creator that also have dark, anger undertones that are not properly addressed. He could spend more time helping kids who view the show by addressing the issues, even by advising that they seek help, instead of fostering the issues.
So as entertainment goes, I think so, but as giving younger minds the impressions that this is okay, stay away from it.
