- Theon seizes control of Winterfell. Jon captures a wildling, named Ygritte. The people of King's Landing begin to turn against King Joffrey. Daenerys looks to buy ships to sail for the Seven Kingdoms.
- In a surprise attack, Theon Greyjoy captures Winterfell demanding an oath of loyalty from everyone there in return for their lives. He is chastised however by the locals for turning on the family that raised him. The execution of a Stark family retainer shows just how serious Theon is. Robb Stark can't believe what's happened and swears to get his revenge. He is also growing fonder of Lady Talisa. At King's Landing, Tyrion knows better than most that war will devastate them and makes arrangements for Cersei's daughter, Myrcella, to be send away to marry. On returning to the palace after seeing her off, King Joffrey and others of the royal court learn exactly what the public thinks of them. North of the wall, Jon Snow and others are on patrol looking for wildlings. They kill a few but one of the survivors is an attractive young woman, Ygritte. At Harrenhall, Arya continues to work as Lord Tywin Lannister's cup bearer. She's taken aback however when a visitor from King's Landing - someone who could recognize her - arrives for a meeting.—garykmcd
- The greedy Theon Greyjoy takes over Winterfell, forces Bran to surrender to spare his people and beheads Rodrik Cassel to be respected by his men. However, Maester Luwin succeeds in sending a message to Robb using a raven. Robb Stark wants to return to the North to fight against Theon, but is convinced by Lord Roose to move forward since he will send his bastard son Ramsay with his soldiers to capture Theon for him. Twyn receives Littlefinger at the Harrenhal Castle and Arya tries to hide her face from Littlefinger. She steals a letter that is left on the table but Armory takes the letter and heads to Tywin. Arya finds Jaqen and tells him that Armory is the second one that must immediately die. In King's Landing, Joffrey, Cersei, Tyrion, Sansa are at the docks watching Myrcella departing for Dorne. When the group is returning to the castle through the streets of King's Landing, they are attacked by starving people. The Hound saves Sansa from being raped. Beyond the Wall, the party fights against the Wildings and only a woman named Ygritte survives. - Greedy Theon Greyjoy's surprise attack takes Winterfell, but after Bran's surrender and master Rodrik Cassel's beheading the people refuse homage to the 'traitor' whose own men still don't respect him either, and Maester Luwin sends a raven to warn Robb, whom Lord Roose convinces to continue the march on King's Landing, promising his bastard son Ramsay's soldiers will capture Theon. In the capital, starving commoners almost attack Joffrey's royal party who sent princess Mycella safely to Dorn as bride. EScaping recognition by Littlefiner at Harrenhal castle, Arya indicates Armory, bearer of a letter to Tywin Lannister, as second victim to Jaqen. Jon Snow takes surviving hostile Wildling party member Ygritte prisoner, ignoring orders to kill them all.—KGF Vissers
- Against Cersei's wishes, Tyrion sends her and Jaime's daughter, Myrcella, to Dorne for protection. Theon captures Winterfell and executes Ser Rodrik Cassel. Osha, the captive Wildling, along with Hodor, helps Bran and Rickon escape. In the aftermath of another battle, Robb reunites with Talisa. At the Fist of the First Men, Jon captures a Wildling named Ygritte, but is separated from his patrol while pursuing her after she escapes. Joffrey's presence among the people incites a riot at King's Landing, in which he is nearly killed and Sansa almost raped. Tywin allows Littlefinger to seek the Tyrells' allegiance. At Harrenhal, Arya has H'ghar kill an officer who is suspicious of her. Robb receives news about Theon's treachery and sends men to retake Winterfell. At Qarth, Daenerys works to procure a ship to transport an army to Westeros while keeping Daxos at bay. One of Daenerys' maids is killed and her dragons stolen.
- Myrcella (Aimee Richardson), Cersei's daughter, is sent away from King's Landing to the Kingdom of Davos, as per Tyrion's plan. Cersei is livid with Tyrion for taking Myrcella away from her.
After meeting Catelyn, Petyr meets Tywin, where Arya is serving as Tywin's cup bearer. She is afraid that Petyr will recognize her. Petyr tells Tywin that the house of Tyrell has the 2nd biggest army after the Lannisters. Tywin knows that Tyrells rebelled against Joffrey by aligning with Renly. Petyr says that maybe one day they should be punished for that, after Stannis and Robb are defeated. The Tyrells are back at Highgarden. Tywin allows Baelish to seek the allegiance of the Tyrells by offering them money. Arya steals a message from Petyr on Theon's movements against Robb. An officer suspects Arya, and she has H'Ghar kill him before the officer can tell Tywin about her.
Theon manages to take Winterfell and executes Rodrick Cassel (Ron Donachie), a henchman, for insulting him (Rodrick spits at Theon and refuses to accept him as the King of Winterfell. Maester Luwin asks Theon to reconsider, but Theon is keen to establish his rule over the castle and prove himself worthy in the eyes of his father). Just before the capture, Maester Luwin is able to send a message to Robb via a raven that Theon has attacked and taken Winterfell. Theon wants Bran to tell his people that he has yielded Winterfell to him. Theon orders Luwin to send ravens to Balon (informing of his victory) and to Yarra (asking her to bring 500 men to Winterfell) Osha (Natalia Tena), the captured Wildling, helps Brandon and his younger brother Rickon (Art Parkinson) escape by seducing Theon to sleep.
At the Fist of the First Men, Jon captures a Wildling named Ygritte (Rose Leslie) who part of a patrol. Jon convinces Halfhand to keep her alive for interrogation. Ygritte admits that Mance has amassed an army of hundreds of thousands free men beyond the pass. But the objective of this army is not clear yet. Halfhand wants to know if Mance intends to march to the Wall with his army. Jon gets separated from his patrol when she tries to escape (Halfhand had ordered Jon to kill Ygritte, but he hesitated, giving her a chance to run) and he is forced to chase her. Night arrives and Ygritte is Jon's only chance of survival. Jon refuses to light a fire, as would alert Mance and his forces.
Joffrey incites a riot at King's Landing (rumors have spread that he is born of Cersei and Jamie and is not the true heir to the throne) in which he is nearly killed and Sansa is nearly raped. She is saved by Sandor (Rory McCann) after Joffrey refuses to send his guards to search for Sansa and save her. Tyrion wants her safe as without her, there is no leverage to keep Jamie alive. Shae cares for Sansa. Sansa admits to Shae that she hates Joffrey, as she trusts Shae.
Robb reunites with the healer Maegyr Talisa. Robb receives news of Theon's plans (Rodrick is dead and no news of the 2 Stark boys still at Winterfell) and sends men to retake Winterfell. Catelyn convinces Robb to stay the course against the Lannisters, else all the progress made against them would be lost. Robb agrees to have Lord Roose Bolton's bastard son Ramsay send a platoon to retake Winterfell.
At Qarth, Daenerys tries to procure a ship to take her people to Westeros, all the while keeping Daxos at bay. She tells the story of how she hatched her 3 dragons and that she is not an ordinary woman. Yet, despite her passionate plea the Spice King, Silk King and Copper King refuse to give her any ships to travel to the King's Landing (as she has no army and no allies with which to defeat the Lannisters). Daenerys' dragons are stolen.
