Great news for the sardonic, sarcastic, and rejected members of the Esteemers, because Mondo is releasing the first-ever, official, on-model figures based on the hit MTV show and cultural institution, "Daria." The adult animated sitcom created by Glenn Eichler and Susie Lewis Lynn was famously a spin-off of Mike Judge's "Beavis and Butt-Head," with Tracy Grandstaff reprising her role as the intelligent, cynical Daria Morgendorffer as she navigates her new high school in Lawndale.
"Daria" was a satirical look at suburban America and the high school experience, with the titular character and best friend Jane Lane's borderline misanthropic criticisms doubling as the vocalized interior thoughts of Gen X and elder millennials as they came of age. While Beavis and Butt-Head were oblivious idiots whose existence provided a commentary on the way the world mistakenly viewed teenagers because they didn't understand them,...

NPR is about to get an adult rebrand. The new Peacock animated comedy series “In The Know,” premiering Thursday, Jan. 25, follows Lauren Caspian (Zach Woods) – well-meaning but totally hypocritical - as he conducts in-depth interviews with real world human guests across funny, scary, and friendly conversations. Oh, and did we mention he’s a stop motion puppet? Each episode in the series will follow the making of an episode of Caspian’s show In the Know, as he collaborates with other NPR staff (also puppets and nimrods) and asks the tough questions through his frail, overconfident male puppet persona that boasts a woman’s name: Lauren Caspian. Don’t miss any of the wacky humor from the mind of the man who’s portrayed some of your favorite characters in shows like “The Office” and “Silicon Valley” - Zach Woods. You can watch In the Know: Season 1 with a subscription to Peacock.

"King of the Hill" fans were hit with the sad news last week that Johnny Hardwick, the voice of Hank Hill's longtime friend Dale Gribble, had passed away at 64. Hardwick lent his voice to Dale across all 13 seasons of Mike Judge's animated series, which originally ran from 1997 through 2009. However, "King of the Hill" fans had been looking forward to a series revival of the comedy at Hulu, hot on the heels of the return of Judge's other animated comedy hit "Beavis and Butt-Head" on Paramount + and Comedy Central. But with no window for the revival's return, many have been wondering whether or not Hardwick was able to record lines for Dale's return on the show before his passing. We now have the answer.
TV Line has learned that Hardwick was able to get in the recording booth to complete a couple episodes of the "King of the Hill...

College can be a time of great change in one's life: going it alone for the first time in training for the real world. The inclusion of the year in the title of Liu Jian's third feature “Art College 1994” is necessary in that it sets the scene for a changing time in China in terms of pop culture and, of course, art.
Back Home is screening at New York Asian Film Festival
Two roommates, Xiaojun (Dong Zijian) and Zhifei (Chizi) are art students who spend their days procrastinating, discussing the philosophy of art and the changing scene from classic to Western-influenced modern. Similarly, vocal student Hong (Papi) and piano student Lili (Zhou Dongyu) discuss their futures and possible marriages.
The two pairs mingle, with potential romantic liaisons hinted at, though their hypothetical, philosophical conversations play out in reality, as they come to terms with their relationship to art and each other.

Three decades after they were first introduced in the short film “Frog Baseball” and almost a dozen years after the first revival of their eponymous MTV show concluded, cartoon characters Beavis and Butt-Head returned for a Paramount Plus reboot series in August 2022. Whether it will continue past its first two seasons has yet to be decided, but it certainly has been well-received, as was the 2022 TV movie “Beavis and Butt-Head Do the Universe.” At this point in the “Beavis and Butt-Head” franchise’s existence, no entry has ever attracted the attention of Emmy voters, but the time is right for that to change.
“Beavis and Butt-Head Do the Universe,” which dropped on Paramount Plus six weeks before the new series premiered, serves as a sequel to the 1996 theatrical film “Beavis and Butt-Head Do America.” The plot revolves around the titular teenage dullards traveling through time and coming into contact with...

Season Two of the new "Beavis and Butt-Head" revival cartoon series, created by Mike Judge, streams April 20, 2023 on Paramount+:

Judge's short film "Frog Baseball" was the first appearance of "Beavis and Butt-Head" with MTV signing Judge to turn the concept into a series airing March 1993 to November 1997.
With its 'underground comix' sensibility, the show focused on two socially inept rock/metal-loving teenagers 'Beavis' and 'Butt-Head', who live in the town of 'Highland', Texas. They have no adult supervision at home, are woefully undereducated and arguably dim-witted.

If you're a movie or TV viewer, you've seen Chris Diamantopoulos. Probably many times. If you're an animation nerd, you've heard Chris Diamantopoulos. Again, probably many times. Anyone who is pop culture-literate in the year 2023 has encountered the actor in some capacity -- even if you don't know his name, you know his face. But you can be forgiven for not recognizing his voice, because his chameleonic voiceover work suggests the work of a dozen different actors.
After cutting his teeth on the Broadway stage, Diamantopoulos smashed into film and television and has seemingly never stopped working. You may know him from roles on major TV series like "CSI," "24," "The Sopranos" and "Arrested Development," where he eased into those shows' distinct tones with ease. He was the sound guy who tempted Pam away from Jim in the final season of "The Office." He was that guy from the horse...

When it was first announced that Paramount+ was rebooting Mike Judge's beloved animated series, "Beavis and Butt-Head," fans of the original series were rightfully concerned that bringing everyone's favorite MTV buffoons into the current era was a recipe for disaster. And yet, after the wildly successful "Beavis and Butt-Head Do the Universe," Judge effortlessly incorporated his horny, mouth-breathing, lovable losers into the 2020s.
The first season of the "Beavis and Butt-Head" reboot was, quite honestly, the absolute best possible outcome. The structure of the series didn't change at all, instead evolved to better reflect our current times. The characters still end up in nonsensical adventures like getting trapped in a bathroom thinking it's part of an escape room (or enacting revenge on some raccoons for eating their nachos) and still have the interspersed asides of commenting on whatever is on TV. Instead of focusing primarily on music videos as...

If you hear nasally snickering from your TV sets on March 8 — or even from your fellow TV fans — it might be because Beavis and Butt-Head is turning 30 years old that day. And in some episodes of the Paramount+ revival, the titular duo really look their age! Beavis and Butt-head premiered on MTV on March 8, 1993, and just five months later, Rolling Stone was calling the characters “the voice of a generation,” adding that the “two thunderously stupid and excruciatingly ugly pubescent males” had “become the most acute commentators on TV.” Of course, the teens’ puerile humor and mischief-making won them just as many critics as fans. And amid controversy over the show’s storylines, MTV added a disclaimer to the start of every episode: “Beavis and Butt-Head are not real. They are stupid cartoon people completely made up by this Texas guy whom we hardly even know. Beavis and Butt-Head are dumb,...

If you’re just starting The Simpsons now, you have 742 episodes to get through. Make that 743 as of tonight. Bart and Homer Simpson | 20th Television ‘Futurama’ is great if you like ‘The Simpsons’ and sci-fi

The origins of Mike Judge's "King of the Hill" would make its protagonist Hank Hill proud. The satirical animated series introduced us to a loveable collection of rednecks in Arlen, Texas. It debuted on Fox in 1997 and ran for 13 seasons. The timing of its arrival was impeccable. As we rushed toward the new millennium in the late 1990s, the Internet, cell phones, and satellite TV would change the face of mass communication. The tragedy of 9/11 and a seemingly unending war in the Middle East were right around the bend. Old ideals were giving way to a new generation.
The world was about to change significantly, and it was surprisingly calming to watch Texas everyman Hank Hill grapple with those changes along with us. As a good-hearted baby boomer with often outdated values, he was a character that Gen X could laugh at — and eventually with — as we inched closer to becoming Hank Hill ourselves.

Late in the fifth season of Netflix’s The Crown, Queen Elizabeth (Imelda Staunton) asks her grandson William (Senan West) for help with the complicated remote control for the palace’s new satellite dish. As William flips through the many new channels in search of the BBC, Her Royal Majesty briefly finds herself watching Beavis and Butt-head. Much like one of her predecessors, she is not amused.
It is the Nineties, and Elizabeth has agreed to get the satellite dish because her old TV and antenna are no longer up to snuff.

Just when we thought we had finally escaped the continued animation bloodbath across streaming platforms, Netflix quietly grabbed the baton from HBO Max and decided to run a victory lap. Living animated comedy legend Mike Judge is in the midst of a career resurgence, with the return of "Beavis and Butt-Head" and the upcoming Peacock series "Best Buds." Judge has also been in the middle of negotiating a return for his hit series "King of the Hill," and is in the middle of production on a Netflix series "Bad Crimes."
The latter stars comedic delights Lauren Lapkus and Nicole Byer as two FBI agents who travel across the country solving grisly crimes while simultaneously juggling their friendship, career ambitions, and as many men as they can get their hands on. Unfortunately, as was reported by The Wrap Monday, Netflix unceremoniously gave "Bad Crimes" the axe despite the series already being in production.
