I gotta say, I was pretty skeptical when I heard that B&B was coming back. It's been 14 years since the last episode; the 90s are long gone (even the 00s had passed), so it seemed like the boys music, habits, and behavior would look strikingly outdated. Not to mention the fact that Mike Judge ended the show in '97 because he felt it had run its course. So how good could this show, based on 90s youth that supposedly ran its course by 1997, be here in 2011?
Pretty damn good, believe it or not. The show has obviously been updated a bit (obviously no Jersey Shore in the 90s, thank God), but for the most part, it had the exact same feel and charm as the original run of episodes, and it didn't even feel re-hashed at all. Not to mention, these two particular episodes ("Werewolves of Highland" and "Crying") were some of the funniest episodes I've ever seen, and its still just B&B being their classic selves. Some things never change, and they very well shouldn't.
There was one thing that bothered me a LITTLE bit though: Beavis. It's obvious his voice sounds different (lot deeper), but I really can't blame Mike Judge for that. However, he also seems a lot less energetic than he used to be. I don't know, maybe MJ is just getting warmed up.
In the slightly altered words of Joe Bob, "9 stars, check it out!"
