While a lot of drag race is taking place now, it's refreshing to see CDR dig it's heals into camp and comedy, introducing us to 12 queens who all have a very unique and contrasting perspective on drag.
Each queen came in with a solid entrance line and a distinct point of view and their drag represents the cultural mosaic Canada is known for - whether being unapologetically indigenous, adding some Portuguese flair in the werkroom or referencing past experiences from growing up in Barbados to fuel yourself for energy on the catwalk.
Some stand outs:
- Both Lady Boom Boom and Giselle Lullaby bring the camp side of Quebec's cabaret scene to their confessionals and their drag aesthetic, but elevate it in their looks with contemporary shapes and silhouettes.
- Bom Bae's approach to the maxi challenge could be indication of the kind of drag cameleon she is and the exciting drag she's about to show us.
- The potential frenemy trio of Firece, Chelazon Leroux and Kimmy Couture could shape up to be some of the funniest and most dramatic werkroom interactions this franchise (and many of the international ones) have had.
