I've rarely seen a series with such good performances, production values, direction and I suppose writing as well, to the extent the premise will allow it.
But the premise is just too narrow and unappealing to be worth an entire season. The first two episodes are good, and it turns out that the last two are good as well. I'd advise people to skip the mid-season slog and just watch those four episodes.
The premise really isn't so complex that it needs a full season. Truman Capote has some society-dame friends who he antagonizes by writing a lightly fictionalized tell-all. The story is just all of them wallowing around in angst about it.
I gave this episode an 8 because it's probably the best of the entire season, that is if you haven't totally run out of patience by now.
