kind of disappointing
shirlone26 July 2022
Nothing spectacular with this series. Nothing that hasn't already been done before. I remember seeing a few of the places that were featured on Somebody Feed Phil. The different foods were good and so were the people that were featured. They could have gone to different cities though instead of the same ones. Just an average series. If you like to watch food shows there are better ones streaming now on Netflix.

Fills a void
alwillis-2247621 August 2022
I have been searching for a new food show since the death of Anthony Bourdain and the end of Parts Unknown. It doesn't quite fill the void, but it is a really good show. I love hearing the stories of the people behind the food. Those criticizing the show, are missing the point. This is about the story behind the street food. It is about the history and the people. Plus you get to see some delicious food!

Amazingl food and wonderful people
chrismccloughen26 July 2022
Such a great series that I binged it all in one evening which is easy as each episode is only 30 minutes long. Street Food: USA, contains people who love food and who love selling and sharing their food with their communities. The food they make is like sermons of love that you eat to get the spiritual message of family, service, passion and identity. These are the culturally diverse people that make up the melting pot that is the USA. These are people who have become icons in their community because of their excellence and ability to hustle. Each episode focuses on a different US city, Los Angeles, Portland, New York, New Orleans, Oahu, and Miami. And this is food that I could almost smell and taste. And though I would try it all, and these are all great cities, Portland appeared to be the place of true invention and experimentation in presenting everything from Vegan dishes (like Vegan Pork Belly) to pork and beef BBQ. And while the food is all great, it is the stories of the different people involved in the food that makes this series magical.

Viewed on Netflix. Reviewed July 2022.

What about the Food?
Pepe_Le_Pew_230 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
If you tuned to see a Anthony Bourdain or Andrew Zimmern type food show this is something totally different. It highlights the down and out vendors of street food. I mean the food looks ok, but it never goes into detail of what's in it or what makes it so special. All you get are depressing side stories and nothing more.

It's been done, but this has soul
elliotkarlin27 July 2022
Yes, it's been done before, yes it's another tv show about food, but man, did they do it right. The people, the food, the shots, very well done. What really makes this a joy to watch is connecting with these families, their stories, they are all so emotional, sweet, sad, joyful. I love seeing each of their passion shine. Well done Netflix. Well done.

No food, just stories
jun_n-9129829 July 2022
If i wanted to know so much about peoples struggles, i would have watched another realty serie. If the name is street food, put at least some decent places which i can visit. Its more like a drama serie and thats not wat i want from a food show. A lot of youtube street-food vidz are way much better than this drama thing. Take a better look at their content. Failed series for me!

Raw, real, inspiring
alykazakova3 August 2022
I absolutely enjoyed watching the series. Covid effected street vendors tremendously. Hearing how these amazing vendors fought for their passion to cook was so inspiring and motivating.

Beautiful stories and cinematography.

More like a documentary, personal stories.
Shenoa7730 July 2022
I don't think this series knows what it wants to be. It weirdly transitions from food trucks and places to eat to personal stories and struggles of people in food trucks. What the heck is this that I'm watching? I was expecting a fun light-hearted show about food and street food and new places to eat, what I got was a documentary about sons with daddy issues.

Depressing Stories
mdrifke31 July 2022
This series is not really focused on the food. It's more about depressing life stories. I was hoping to learn about how they started in the the food truck business and how to do it successfully.

Disappointing - no food
phojar5 August 2022
I love hearing the personal stories of people who have a food business and how they got to where they are, but this completely omitted the food. They showed some images of food, but did not talk about the dishes or give details on what to try if you visited the business. I've never watched a show about food where they forget to talk about the food.

Also this is the most woke food show I've ever seen.

Every episode is spaced and slow, they could have filled that extra time by talking about the dishes.

Very poorly done. Lord help us, this is the result of the new generation making tv shows.

Never shows food
quakeroats12315 August 2022
The background stories are interesting, but not a single dish is shown in detail. I want to see the food! A bit of a let down because the 10% that food is actually shown it looks delicious. It should have probably been titled "Stories behind street food".

Very Disappointing
egirlsemail8 August 2022
I was very disappointed with this series. I was excited to learn about the street food of different states in the U. S. A., however all I learned about was the stories of people. They were interesting, however that is not what I watched this show for.

The Miami episode was the most disappointing for me. As someone who was born and raised in Miami, this episode did no justice to the amazing food and culture that Miami has to offer.

I expected a lot better.

Okay, but cringeworthy amounts of styrofoam
jahaugh22 August 2022
I love street food, and I appreciate this show's effort to bring the stories of the cultures that exist behind the cuisines. But I couldn't help but notice the amounts of styrofoam and plastic that come out of these food trucks. Kind of wish the documentarians had been more prone to offer more publicity to folks who are thinking about environmental impacts too.
