- After following Eliot home to Oklahoma to confront his father they discover that the town is experiencing negative effects from fracking. The town needs help to remove the fracking rigs and prevent more from being set up across the state.
- Eliot returns to his hometown to say something to his long-estranged father Billy, who is engaged in a long fight against fracking in the town. The rest of the crew follow Eliot there, and help him and his father take down the fracking company and the crooked politician in bed with them.—Gislef
- Billy Spencer watched as Jess Dewitt and her two sons move out of their house in Oklahoma. Jess complains about the fracking that has been going in their town, and Billy says that he's been gathering evidence to get it stopped. He admits that there's no guarantee he can get it shut down, and Jess tells him that she has to think about her sons. Jess turns on the tap and lights the water, to demonstrate the methane in it from the fracking.
Harry and Sophie return to the bar from a job, and he points off that they blew off the gloat against the mark. He assures her that she's a good person no matter what Arthur Wilde may have reminded her about her past. Sophie points out that she doesn't always thinks about the "collateral damage" of people they hurt when they take down marks. In the bar, Breanna hooks up a video connection to Hardison in space, as Parker looks on. Sophie and Harry come in, as Hardison shows off how he's weightless in space. While he talks about how he'll have to stay up in space awhile because of solar flares, Eliot comes through with his duffle. He says that he's going to be off the grid for a few days, and has some unfinished business to take care of. Eliot finally says that he's going to Oklahoma and leaves without further explanation. Hardison tells the crew that Eliot's father is in Oklahoma.
Eliot drive a food truck to Carson, Oklahoma, and Parker and Breanna pop out of the back and tell him that they came along to give him emotional support. They wonder why Eliot doesn't just call his father to tell him what he wants to say, and he tells them that it's complicated but refuses to go into more detail.
The group arrive in Carson, and Eliot points out the businesses from his childhood that are now closed. They see Billy in an alleyway, being beat up by three bikers. Parker insists that Eliot stop the truck, and they get out, go over, and take the thugs out. Breanna helps out with some improvised pepper spray, and the thugs run off. Billy recognizes Eliot and wonders what he's doing there, and Eliot tells his friends that Billy is his father.
That night, everyone goes to Billy's house and Parker tends to Billy's bruises, and Billy explains that the guys who attacked him work security for GreenSlate Energy. He says that they work at the fracking rig on the edge of town, and since the rig has come to town, they've had earthquakes and people have gotten sick from contaminated drinking water. Billy has been leading an effort to get the rig shut down. Glaring at Eliot, Billy says that he's spent his whole life in Carson and the people there mean something to him. He explains that he's gathered enough signature to have the state AG have the company put up a $40 million bond for reparations, and set up an independent committee to review the environmental impact studies that GreenSlate has ordered. However, Billy figures that GreenSlate has bought off the company hired to do the study, Enviro Defense Group.
Breanna leads Parker off, and Billy asks Eliot why he's in Carson. Eliot tries to explain Billy doesn't want to hear it, and asks why Breanna and Parker are there. Eliot explains that he works with people that help people, and his father doesn't want to hear it and tells Eliot that he didn't ask for his help. He walks out of the room, and Eliot looks at photos on the wall of Billy with various teenage football players. There's also a framed photo of Jess, and Eliot looks at it and smiles.
In the truck, Breanna and Parker call Hardison and tell him about Billy. Eliot comes in and says that it's not a big deal that he's adopted. Parker wonders if Eliot still wants to help Billy, and Eliot tells them that he grew up in the town and wants to help it. Breanna has researched GreenSlate and tells the others that Peter Marsh, the company's operator. They almost got shut down over safety concerns, but then the cases just disappeared. Harry and Sophie are also on the line, and Harry points out that most fracking jobs are temporary so they inflate the employment records and then let most of the workers go. James Hodgins, Oklahoma's AG, owns a home in Carson, ordered the study and suspended the rig's permits. However, Enviro has very little experience running studies and the backgrounds of the members are shady. Hardison reports that both companies are offline and he can't hack them.
A distracted Sophie tells she and Harry will go to the capital and get a read on Hodgins, while Breanna penetrates Enviro, and Parker and Eliot will break into GreenSlate. Afterward, Harry asks Sophie if she's okay. Sophie worries about Eliot blaming himself if they mess it up, and Eliot will be the collateral damage. She can't have that.
Eliot stays behind in the truck, and Hardison asks him if he's all right. When Eliot admits that he doesn't know, his friends tell him that he's there if he needs him.
Billy gives Breanna a ride to town while he makes deliveries of fresh drinking water. She sets up a cover identity as a new member of the Enviro group, and Billy tells her that she should think about her future. He talks about how Eliot never wanted to follow the path they set for him, and they see Enviro off the side of the road at a creek, sampling water from a creek.
Eliot and Parker go to GreenSlate to break in and bug Marsh's computer. Parker asks Eliot what he wanted to say to Billy, but Eliot ignores her. They go in and say that they're looking for a python that has broken loose, and the manager tells everyone to get out and let them find the snake. Once they're alone, Parker asks Eliot if he's dying. Eliot says that he isn't, and they bug the computer. Parker finds a map with other GreenSlate fracking sites.
Breanna puts on a hazmat suit and joins the Enviro team, jamming their signal. She claims HR sent her and then secretly checks their laptop. Meanwhile at the state capital, Harry approaches Hodgins and claims they set up a meeting with his secretary. He takes Hodgins over to Sophie, who is posing as a press reporter. They compliment him on bring the fracking jobs to Carson, and Hodgins talks about how he suspended GreenSlate's permits and brought in Enviro. When Sophie suggests she talk further to Hodgins in his home in Carson, Hodgins tries to say that he's stuck at the capital on business, but Harry steps in and says that they'll talk to Sophie in Carson. Once she leaves, Hodgins complains to Harry, who says that it'll be good for Hodgins' image.
Breanna, Parker, and Eliot meet Billy's place and go over where they've found out. Harry and Sophie tie in with hem them, The map showed future GreenSlate franking site, with the permits already filled out. Sophie figures that Hodgins is sincere, so it all depends on what Enviro reports. Hodgins lives next to the fracking rig in Carson, and they figure that if he's who he says he is, he won't let his constituents put up with fracking.
The next morning, Billy goes to his kitchen and finds the crew having a breakfast that Eliot made. The rest of the crew head out, leaving Eliot with his father. Eliot says that he's staying around in case the thugs come back, and Billy tells him he doesn't need a babysitter and leaves.
In the truck, Breanna sets up a device to make it look like fracking is making people sick. Sophie and Harry go to meet with Hodgins at his house. Hodgins' family have made things nice, and Breanna activates the sonic device. Breanna and Parker are under the house, and have rigged the pipes to creak and the sink to back up with goo. Harry asks for a glass of tap water, but the tap doesn't work due to Breanna's sabotage. Breanna reflects sunlight in, the sink backs up, and the house shakes. Sophie talks to Breanna on the comms and complains she's doing too much, and Breanna says that it isn't her. Hodgins calls Marsh and says that he's coming over, and Marsh pounds on his desk in frustration as he hangs up, unwittingly disabling the crew's bug. Carson's wife and daughter leave, and Carson drives over to GreenSlate's office. Parker hangs on to the bottom of Hodgins' SUV.
At GreenSlate, Hodgins tells Marsh to have Enviro get the report in by that night. With the bugs out, Parker listens in from a nearby vent and tells the others that Hodgins is in in on it. They till Billy, and explain that shutting down the Carson operation would have been good for GreenSlate's image, so they wouldn't have gotten resistance on opening the other rigs. Hodgins quashed the case against GreenSlate in return for a payoff. Harry warns that the paper trail is too convoluted for them to take to the town committee meeting that night, and Breanna warns that they don't have time. Billy storms out, complaining that it's all been a waste of time, and Sophie privately tells Harry that she missed it and wonders how. Harry tells her that her weakness is self-doubt. Harry points out that she's been second-guessing herself since Arthur Wilde showed up.
Eliot finds Billy out on the lawn, and tells his father that it's not over. Billy wonders why Eliot came back, and Eliot tells him that he has something to say to him after all the years. His father says that he doesn't want to hear it, but Eliot tells him that he's sorry he wasn't there for his mother's funeral. Eliot admits that he joined the military against Billy's wishes, and they put him in a special unit and made him do things he's still ashamed of. His superiors didn't allow Eliot to come back when his mother died, and Eliot wasn't there for Billy. Billy asks Eliot why he signed up when he knew Billy didn't want him to, and Eliot explains that he did it because of the stories Billy told, and he wanted to be like him. Billy points out that all serving got him was a bum hip and ruined his chances of playing professionally, but Eliot had a chance.
When Eliot says that Billy was a hero, Billy tells him that the prison escape he led got someone else a medal, and all Billy got was an injury and a lifetime of fighting the VA for benefits. Billy and his wife wanted more for Eliot, and Eliot says that he knows. Breanna comes out and says that they got something, and they go. Parker reveals a key card she got from Marsh's office, which get them into the highly-guarded security station at the rig. Once in, Breanna can hack the system. Billy says that he's sick of their plans, and going to the committee meeting to tell them everything he knows.
That night, Parker and Breanna sneak into the rig and they notice that there are less guards than there were before. Breanna figures they're in town watching out for Billy, and warn Eliot, who is outside the committee meeting. The thugs are waiting for Billy, and Eliot joins his father. The thugs tell Billy that he's not getting inside, and more thugs arrive as reinforcement for the first group.
Sophie and Harry meet Hodgins as he goes into the committee meeting, and he tells them that the report from Enviro is ready. Harry tries to slow Hodgins down, saying they can get in more press, and Hodgins tells him they'll have plenty.
Eliot and Billy take on the thugs. Inside, Enviro presents their findings and say that the methane is coming from natural resources and has nothing to do with fracking.
Parker rigs up explosives while Breanna accesses the files. Eliot and Billy finish their fight and run inside. Inside, Marsh tells Billy that he's too late. Billy goes to the front of the hall and says that he has more evidence, and the townspeople can stop GreenSlate. Hodgins ignores him and goes out with Marsh, who says that they'll have the press in in the morning. Billy continues his pleas.
The next morning, the press gathers for Hodgins' press conference near the rig. Marsh announces the opening of six more rigs, and he uses a remote to turn on the rig... which explodes, thanks to Parker's sabotage the previous night and Breanna helping her. Breanna assures Sophie they cleared the rig of any people so no one was inside. Sophie then asks if Enviro's report was wrong, and Hodgins says it was a machine malfunction. Marsh accuses Billy of sabotage, and Billy asks Hodgins that the fracking methane caused the explosion.
Billy turns on a nearby tap and ignites it, demonstrating the methane in the water. Hodgins runs over and turns off the faucet, and Billy tells him that he and GreenSlate should cut their losses and get out of town. Harry says that they connected Hodgins' secret bank account to GreenSlate, and Eliot adds that Hodgins will have to pay the $60 million in reparations. The townspeople cheer and the crew walks away.
Later at the house, everyone says goodbye to Billy. Harry tells Sophie that thanks to her, for the first time in his adult life, Eliot is happy. Eliot hangs back with Billy, who tells his soon that if he hadn't ignored him, Eliot wouldn't be doing good for a lot of people. Billy says that he's proud of Eliot, and they both agree that they wasted a lot of good years. His father notes that they still have some good years ahead of them and they should make them count.
Eliot tells his father that in the crew's line of work, they don't get recognition but have the satisfaction of knowing they made a difference. He tells Billy that even though he didn't get a medal, he's a hero in the eyes of everyone he saved, and in Eliot's eyes. The two men hug and cry, and Billy tells Eliot to try and stay out of trouble. Eliot says that he won't and gives a photo of him as a boy in a football uniform with Billy, then joins his friends in the truck.
Sophie asks Eliot if he's okay, and he just smiles as they drive off.
