Elvira brings humor to this very serious film during its breaks. Ruth Roman is perfect as the boozy cigarette smoking dominant mother and David Manzy as the diapered thumb sucking screaming Baby. It is obvious that Baby is a normal 20s male but is kept as a Baby by his domineering mother. Any signs of progress or growth are met with stern punishment. Baby has normal feelings of a young boy/man which is obvious during an innocent diaper change with his babysitter. His facial expressions sounds and definite bulge when crawling and playing with her are clear and enrage his mama when caught. The social worker assigned to Baby suspects that abuse and environmental retardation are happening and tries to intervene. Ann the social worker, has some issues of her own and this attracts her to Baby also which angers Baby's mother who does everything she can to get ousted of the case and away from Baby and the family. A very good movie for its time and was also based on a true story.
