The supposed B-2 crew member shown just before the B-2 crashes isn't wearing a flight suit or any other equipment associated with modern U.S. Air Force aircrews.

Contrary to the ludicrous statement, the Iowa's steering control (as with all major warships since the early twentieth century) is not mechanical, but electrical. Rudder commands are sent from the helm on the bridge to the after steering compartment via electrical cable. A set of relays and electrical controls activate the hydraulic system which actually moves the rudders.

The Captain is told that all the old aircraft that can be made to fly are coming to attack the alien ships, but what is shown is a formation of four civilian sport aerobatic aircraft, still showing smoke, obviously taken from another film source. The four aircraft aren't even American, all four being Russian-made Yak aerobatic planes.
