Not a heroic achievement by any means, quite the opposite actually

"Berlin für Helden" is a German live action full feature film from 2012 that was written and directed by Klaus Lemke, a really experienced filmmaker who has been working on movies for a long time and it is always sad to see somebody at such an advanced age come up with a horrible film like this. Is it the lack of talent or lack of money? Perhaps a bit of both. Sure Lemke has always been the epitome of non-mainstream, maybe even underground, but after such a long time, I definitely expect something better than this. Luckily, it wasn't a long film as this one clocks in at under 80 minutes and the only somewhat known cast member is Saralisa Volm, not a star either though. I was always a bit unsure if I deem her talented or not, but after seeing this one here, I think i will finally go for the ladder. Her looks here did not impress me either. It must be said that if she looks like a good actress here, then that is because some of the other cast members, also those in key positions have little (occasionally zero) filmmaking experience and still she does not manage to shine enxt to them. Enough said. As for the story, the title already gives away that this was made in Berlin and is also set in Berlin. Early on we have a duo of people who shared a car on their trip to Berlin and we follow them and some of the people they meet on this journey. Well, a lot is over the top here in a most unrealistic fashion and hardly anything feels authentic, be it the overacting, the dialogues or just the characters' actions. Eventually, it seems to be about nothing but sex. Oh well, the sex scenes are admittedly still among the better parts of the film, but that is also only because almost everything else is so horrible, so yeah if the chicks were a bit hotter, then this could have been a semi-decent watch. But it is not. Instead, the best you can see it on 2 or 3 occasions, especially that IItalian psycho guy after having sex, is a guilty pleasure movie. But even for that it is just too bad 95% of the time. This is the kind of tribute that a wonderful city like Berlin does not need. On the contrary, a tribute that perhaps lures people away from the German capital. Besides I as a Berlin citizen must say that this never feels only a minor tribute to Berlin as you could think from the title. So don't become one of them and make a wise decision. Skip the watch here. One of the worst German films from 2012. Highly not recommended.
