Better Than Bitter Buddah
britneyunreleased5 December 2012
I was able to see the sneak peak ala the official site when it was posted for only one day. Although not filed with celebrity comedians like 'Bitter Buddha', 'How Embarrassing' is a better doc. I found myself really warming up to ''J.J. Star'' the person as you see him face his trials and tribulations. His material is funnier than that of Eddie Pepitone, the comedian 'Bitter Buddha' was based on. There is minimal attention to drug use and his career as radio disc jockey but a little too much on why he is called ''J.J. Star''. The ending is very touching, almost sad to be honest. Although similar because of the obscure nature of the comedian subjects, 'How Embarrassing' is the clear cut winner over Bitter Buddha.

Gets Credit For Showing What Few Would

Dandurand may or not be the ultimate showbiz loser, but a failed child actor, stand up comedian and recently radio DJ is enough to qualify him if there were such an award. As much as I would like to put into detail how insignificant this individual is in the world of entertainment, but instead it would be a flat out lie if I said 'How Embarrassing' didn't have heart. Sure it's a bargain basement videography at best, but rarely do we see the threadbare depths some of these comedians or so called comics dwell. Dandurand's story is far from sad, here was a somewhat attractive kid whose first job was on the set of a feature film. Small parts follow in the 'Wonder years' and so forth. Some where along the line he develops a xxx rated stand up persona and takes Radio gigs where nobody wants to work. There is some who say his luck was bad but Dandurand proves he wrote his own ticket for disaster. Excessive food and cliché rock and roll drug stories follow. So as much as I hate the subject, you can't hate somebody opening up themselves and showing you the stuff you know they don't want to see.

J.J. Star is the best!

I just finished watching 'How Embarrasssing' and I must say I was surprised. Story is about a comedian who keeps pushing the boundaries of good taste despite being banned and fired from every job. Dandurand is a horrible singer, comedian and his radio shows were OK. As an actor and producer he is a genius as he hides behind his "J.J. Star" persona to tell the most vivid, real portrayal of a stand up comedian i've ever seen. The only drawback is the non budget this film has and the color and sound could be a lot better. What makes up for it is the story and the killer soundtrack from hip hop kid Nubomb who has an excellent song in the closing called "Going Nowhere".
