- TriviaChildhood friends William Harley (1880-1943) and Arthur Davidson (1881-1950) started working on a motor-bicycle in 1901, and co-founded Harley-Davidson in 1903 in Milwaukee, WI, along with Arthur's two older brothers, William and Walter. In 1969, American Machine and Foundry (AMF) bought the company, and cost-cutting produced lower-quality bikes. Harley-Davidson was mocked as "Hardly Ableson," "Hardly Driveable," and "Hogly Ferguson;" the nickname "Hog" became a derogatory nickname. The New York Stock Exchange symbol is HOG.
- Quotes
Arthur Davidson: We still can't figure out how he did it. The engine is the same. There may have been a minor cosmetic adjustment, but, inside, it's quite literally our V-twin.
William Harley: Even after getting a look at the thing, it makes no sense.
Detective William Murdoch: I disagree. It is possible for the same engine to make more power by altering the fuel.
William Harley: To what? The engine runs on gasoline.
Detective William Murdoch: Yes. But, with an additive, the same engine can burn the same fuel faster.
Arthur Davidson: I... I... I suppose, in theory.
Detective William Murdoch: Nitrous oxide. It forces more oxygen into the fuel. The result is a motorcycle that runs on highly oxygenated gas. I call it HOG for short.
William Harley: Hog. Now that's a good name for a bike.
- ConnectionsReferences Easy Rider (1969)
It was beautiful that all the characters of the series were focused on the main case and helped in its process. In all three episodes, in addition to Murdoch's creations, famous people from history such as Rudyard Kipling, the author of Tarzan, Lucy Maud Montgomery, Harley & Davidson were used and greatly contributed to the appeal of the episodes.
I am looking forward to the future episodes of this series and I hope they will be like the last three episodes, The Write Stuff, The Write Stuff, Murdoch Rides Easy.
I also have a suggestion. I wish that like one of the episodes of the famous Dr. Who series, Robin Hood will be included in the story in one episode, I don't know how, but the writers of this series can do this just as they made Sherlock Holmes and... into a real story.
I want to talk specifically about this episode, it had a very brilliant idea and was able to pull the audience with it until the last moment.
