NIca at her finest
The Adult drama "My Sister Celine" finds writer-director firing on all cylinders, for a classic video of Lesbian Cinema.
Her excellent script is brought to life by exceptional acting performances, led by Sovereign Syre early in her career as the title Celine, a troubled young woman who changes the life of her sister-in-law to be (newcomer Jasmine Jam) in a mysterious, often spell-binding saga.
Jem's fiance Richie Calhoun brings her home to meet his family: sympathetic mom Veronica Hart (the all-time greatest actress in Adult) and sister Celine. Jem soon falls under the spell of the riveting gaze Celine, resulting in a lesbian coupling with her while Richie and mom are visiting a hospital overnight to tend to Richie's grandmother after she suffers a stroke.
The reveal as to Celine's true history and mental condition is saved for the movie's climax, with Nica delivering memorably strong sex scenes along the way. The contrast between Sovereign's extroverted and Jem's introverted performances is worthy of a mainstream acting class exercise.
Fleshing out the cast via a party Syre throws while her family is away at the hospital are Sinn Sage and Katsuni, who have fabulous chemistry in their sex scene together, plus several supporting roles for Kate Kastle and Katie St. Ives. Kastle and Jem had previously made beautiful music together in Noelle's "Lesbian Office Seductions Volume 6". One odd serendipity is that Celine is Katsuni's real name, which I suspect is strictly a coincidence rather than an in-joke in Nica's screenplay.
