Well, this was definitely not the best episode involving one of Sam's family members, or even one of Sam's kids, but what can you do? It was still a refreshing premise to see one of the gang be impacted directly and not have that be the obsessive point of the storyline. They still told a compelling story about the dangers that the United States faces and how the military is necessary to protecting it.
The show may have its best days behind it, but we are still getting fairly decent episodes and I still feel like the show is one of the better procedurals out there, so at least it has that going for it.
