The stuff with Sam and his father feels so very late season of a long-running TV show kind of thing, which is exactly what it is here, but I still think it is not the right fit for this time. Sam barely had any interaction with his father so to just force this into things randomly does not make a lot of sense.
The case itself this week was also kind of forgettable too. So far we are not seeing the best of the show. In Year 14 that is completely understandable, but still, I am left just wanting a bit more. I don't know why we cannot get a good one off episode of the show even if we are this late in its run.
