Mediocre Episode: Bad Writing
panagiotis199326 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Sebastian and Rachel are both Trigon's children so they're family, completely forgot about that lol. It's nice to see Rachel form a bond with her brother. Damn, Conner's wound is not healing. So Lex is gone? Not coming back? That sucks. I like the fact that Conner is under a spell. They keep mentioning Constantine, I hope he will appear in future episodes. Sadly it seems like the writers don't know how to use magic in a believable way. The whole ''Gar becoming a virus and a carrier for Jinx's Blue Ash'' thing was kinda weird. Wait the snake is part of a magic spell so I don't get how a virus could kill it, a magic virus? That's insane. Conner was under the spell even when the snake was out of him. So for him to be under the spell the snake has to be inside him or not?

The snake came out of Conner and Tim kills it? That's it? No magic involved? It's just a normal snake now? So is the snake itself the spell or not? Very unclear how the spell actually works. The writers don't know what they're doing. Hmm... Kory, Rachel and Sebastian are in some kind of different dimension? And what is this dimension supposed to be? They are there to protect Sebastian, a place where Mother Mayhem has no access. Too convenient isn't it? But later... she has access! No explanation how all this works. We have to accept this nonsensical writing as it is. Ok... Kory sees a future where she has a daughter with Dick? Didn't see that coming. In the end it seems like Sebastian accepts his ''fate'' and joins his mother's cult, interesting.

This was a decent and entertaining episode but the writing was very inconsistent in my opinion. I want to watch what happens next especially what will happen to Sebastian. My rating is 6.5/10.

Underlying problems drag it down
ahmadz83925 November 2022
This season is shaping up to be the most consistent one yet; that is, consistently okay. It doesn't reach the high points of the previous seasons, but it also doesn't sink low and come off as a disaster, so it's an improvement in some respects. This season has finally found a tone appropriate for the "Titans," and it's encouraging to see how the characters have matured and learned from their past experiences. Injecting just the perfect amount of humour, Jinx is a great addition, and unlike before, there is stuff for Gar to do, and he is not neglected.

With the positives out of the way, though, I must address the negatives. Lingering issues from the season's outset are now creeping their way to the forefront. Dick and Kory's relationship lacks any real depth. If they want to make it believable, they'll have to do more than the casual interactions between the two we've seen so far. The dialogue is quite basic and lacks depth. It's a major gripe of mine that, although the DC animated shows have fantastic dialogue, the live-action adaptations never seem to measure up. The acting, especially that of the cult characters, is so dreadfully unnatural that it breaks your immersion.

Tim hasn't been very likeable this season, but the "superhero moment" scene made me laugh out loud at the writers' competence. He nonchalantly smacked the snake on the head, killing it. And then Dick says that all his hard work in training has paid off, and he's finally accomplished his goal. Isn't that something simple enough that anyone could do it? It had such a lacklustre impression on me that I was trying to figure out what the writers were thinking. Extremely disappointing stuff. With his bizarre decisions, Tim has been the worst-written Titans character this season. I hope they can turn it around, since it's getting on my nerves. The lack of visual portrayal of Gar's transition was also a letdown for me; even a brief CGI sequence showing his new form would have been adequate.

It's not a terrible episode by any stretch, but some underlying problems drag it down and ultimately drag the season down. Let's wait and see what the rest of the season has in store.

Rating: 6.6/10 (Fair)

It just keeps getting better

Warning: Spoilers
This episodes really showed the dynamics and team interactions really well. Jinx shines as a comic relief, Gar does an incredible feat, and Joshua Orpin who plays Superboy really does some excellent acting while under the control of Mother Mayhem. Joseph Morgan continues to command the screen in every scene and makes you feel sympathy for his inevitable fall to the dark side. Anna Diop remains as radiant as Starfire. Her chat with Zadira shows her growth as the character from s1, how she starts valuing life and how she wants to break free from expectations of her people and everyone around from her home planet. Rachel had some fun scenes with Sebatian that make the turn so heartbreaking. The show continues to make me care about the characters and love every new episode this season. I do think the directing last week was weak, however this episode was great in that part.

The way they keep doing a terrible writing after 4 seasons impresses me, really

Warning: Spoilers
I don't no where to start. It's so, so frustrating watch this show, because the cast are REALLY good, the outfits are AMAZING, location department is impressive, but the WRITING...god, it's so, but so BAD that shocks me. The way they manage to do most of the scenes in the worst anticlimat way is absurd.

Let's talk about this episode. The thing with the snake was a interesting idea and gave to Joshua some good dialogues and performance ( but lord have mercy on his wig...this department on the show are just terrible), then they did a "transformation" of gar into... a vírus??? Like they are in the Starlabs, how they couldn't do a sintetic one to solve the problem?? Now, talking about the Starfire scene on the restaurant. I really tought we were going to have some decent explanation to her visions, but was so underwelming, the vision that she had with the Titans + her child was a complete nosense like, she screamed and they just disapear??? And i won't talk about the fight with Mayhem, because gosh...

This show could've been so much better, had so much potential, i can see the effort of the cast and i'm sorry for them, because they are doing the best that they can. The writers are the big problem and it shows...

The writing is literally making me lose brain cells
mountntiger29 November 2022
I really don't get why the writers are ruining this season when it had a lot of potential, but I honestly think they were too lazy make the script good and kept writing themselves into a corner which forced them to write up random plot conveniences to keep the story going, and not caring what the audience thinks. The cgi is good, the sets look good, the cast is great, and the costume designs are good too. The writing is where it falls off, any time there is a fight this season, the characters just completely forget their abilities and just act stupid for no reason. The amount of dumb decisions made by the characters is actually pissing me off because they're supposed to be smart, I just don't get it.

The consensus seems to be how poor this season has been
jp75702 December 2022
Season 4 seems to suffer from budgetary issues, in addition to poor writing and a generally weird story arc (magic is always a lazy choice for a superhero show).

If you notice, most characters are out of costume and spend much of each episode standing around and talking. Not as much action as in Seasons 1 through 3 (also meaning fewer costly effects). And the addition of the generally annoying Jinx character doesn't help the quality of this season so far.

Let's talk about the Tim Drake character. He's supposed to be a genius and a master detective, but we've seen none of that this season while he trains to be Robin. (While early on, he did figure out the secret identities of some key heroes, that was a long time ago and now he basically stands around and whines.)

Star Labs again looks very different in this iteration. Not the same as in "The Flash" (which might be on a parallel Earth) but it should be the same as the one in "Doom Patrol", since they seem to share a "universe". And we won't even talk about the Star Labs from the Snyder films, which again is very different. The Titans Star Labs seems generally underpopulated. For such a secure environment, there's very few people around. Obviously a budget decision on the part of the producers.

At roughly the halfway point in Season 4, we have bad writing and plotting, poor special FX, disposable characters who we won't miss, and a show that looks like it just doesn't care anymore. There are 6 or so episodes left to redeem this season, and no indication there will be a Season 5 (at this rate, WarnerDiscovery CEO David Zaslav could do what Luthor and the others couldn't - kill off the Titans).

Very disappointed in the direction this series has taken.

Fire the snake animation guy
s-sajjad-ali28 June 2023
Titan season 4 was a major disappointment. The animation was some of the worst I've ever seen in a TV show. The overall quality was just plain bad. It was hard to believe that this was the same show that had some of the best animation in recent memory.

The story itself wasn't terrible, but it was nothing special. It was just another generic superhero story with a few twists and turns. The only thing that really stood out was how bad the animation was.

I'm really hoping that the animation improves in future episodes. Titan has the potential to be a great show, but the bad animation is holding it back.
