A Fun Final Chapter For The Series
deepfrieddodo29 October 2023
A solid conclusion to Plebs, nicely rounding off the adventures of three lovable losers in Ancient Rome.

Marcus, Grumio and Jason enlist in the military with hopes of an easy ride, societal perks, and most importantly, no conflict. Of course, this is short lived as they are marched to the north of Europe to battle Barbarians. Naturally, the uptight Marcus does not assimilate well, unlike his slave and conflicted friend. After a farce in the face of conflict, the trio look to survive long enough to return home.

Most likely to capture attention of those who watched the series, the comedy here does not stray away from the fan-favourite incredulity of Marcus in response to the dozy idiocy of Grumio, supported by the positive womanising of Jason. It stays true to it's series-long approach and values, and moves at a great pace, keeping a simple plot interesting throughout. An easy watch, and a great sendoff for the trio of Plebs.

National Lampoon style fratboy comedy
A_Different_Drummer18 December 2022
In the 1950s, using a comedy ensemble to make fun of war was a huge deal. A worldwide trend, in fact. This effort brings to mind the "CARRY ON" series that was a hit in England 3/4 of century ago. Nothing is to be taken seriously, there is no danger or jeopardy for the leads at any point, everything can and will be turned into a joke, and each character is a stereotype of some kind. There is nothing wrong with this type of film, there is indeed a market for it, but praising it as if were a sequel to MATRIX or LORD OF THE RINGS is pushing the envelope just a mite. Forgettable, light, frothy and fun. That's what your ticket gets you. ((Designated "IMDb Top Reviewer." a good ending
LetsReviewThat2624 May 2023
I was surprised that plebs got a movie. And I am so happy they did as this is the ending us fans were looking for. Jason, marcus and grumio are back once again. Marcus has his 30th birthday coming up and does not know what to do with this milestone. Grumio is eating as always and jason comes up with a plan to bag him some woman, that being them enterting as roman soliders, but little do they know that they soon will have to soon actually fight. Theres a lot of fun just like in the show, and grimios antics especially always make me laugh. It translated to movie really well and it was overall a fun thing to watch. A nice but sad in a way ending.

Worthy End!

Great ending to a very funny series, you can see they have spent a lot of money , on the production, Being made into a feature length Film was a great idea!

You can see the team who made this, have been watching other Roman themes movies.... The Characters have more lines which makes them more interesting & you do end up feeling for them when things get Difficult in the storyline.

The adult jokes are still there & work really well with the story. Strong female characters.

And of course the soundtrack is Ace, great reggae tunes.

Please think about making more , as we certainly need something to laugh about .

Wonderful end

The people who have given bad marks for this are utter morons. What is it you were expecting?

The whole idea of Plebs is that it is supposed to be stupid and deliberately rubbish.

It is actually bloody brilliant.

Beautifully done stuff from the boys. Some wonderful guest actors on the way and just a perfect end to years of hilarity.

I would like to gather the people that slagged this off together in one room and then let tigers eat them.

Or something equally Roman!!!!!!!

By the way this last part of my review is to use up the characters that I need to use otherwise it does not meet the strict criteria.

Roman tragedy
radhrh7 January 2023
Why do we have to write 600 characters? Who thought that number up? Was it decided by a team of high power executives in silicon valley or more likely a lower management nerd. Is it to discourage reviews regarding vapid excuses for comedy such as Plebs:Soldiers of Rome? Could be, it's frankly a tough job coming up with 600 characters concerning this pile of old cobbler's. I vaguely remember the Plebs TV show, mildly amusing after pub foder for the herbal cigarette enthusiast. A bit like The Inbetweeners set in ancient Rome. It wasn't without some charm however non of that charm has transfered to this tragically unfunny abomination.

Please tell me this isn't the end.....
paul-3685225 December 2022
Fantastic and long awaited. Grumio continues to be the star. Missed the usual amount of reggae, which from the very first series was so wrong and yet perfect. Please, please, please do more. The humour is fast flowing and often basic, just what the doctor ordered. Plebs is probably the best comedy in the last 20 years, please don't go.... As a student of Latin in the early 1970s I learned through Grumio the slave (school booklet teaching method rather than rote learning ), it's amazing to find a parallel universe where Grumio really exists.

Escapism at its best and with bonkers humour , love it and always will.

Very Disapointing
paul-5189923 July 2023
We liked the 5 series and were looking forward to the film. Plebs was a homage to carry on films and Up Pompeii and being of a certain age that added to the pleasure. However the film is poor . It has lost all its charm and even the opening music which was great. It just wasn't funny and yet another example of producers not bothering as they knew that the fan base would watch it. Also the series 30 mins episodes were perfect. To get 10 out of 10 the film would have had to be an all time classic. I don't understand those scores. It was fun to watch the series but this film is way way below the series.

Happy ending...
aharrcd9 December 2022
I been waiting a long time for this and I'm glad to say it was worth the wait. It was first announced that Plebs would end in April 2020, but COVID delays slowed production of the planned finale. It means the last episode of season five aired more than three years ago.

The four main characters and landlord are back ITVX had a few new shows on it's release, but this was the first on my watch list. This is British comedy at it's best in my opinion.

The original suggestion was this was to be a film length but just over a hour 30 minutes duration with a lot of getting into trouble and out of it followed a Normal 30 minute episode, I don't think it would be every ones taste, I'm guessing the humour wouldn't be understood and the moral in the story would be lost.

Great end to a cracking comedy series
ipenning20 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Plebs was a series that I had reservations about at the outset, but over time it won me over and proved itself to be a well made comedy that reinvented itself regularly enough to avoid becoming stale, without losing it's identity.

Even when one of the major characters left, the replacement was managed brilliantly, and proved to invoke even better chemistry with the existing cast.

The film again reinvents the series, building a fitting, well written and acted conclusion. Often series endings lack a feeling of completeness, or there seems to be a need to end with a heavy, often dark, message. Instead, Plebs goes out on a poignant high, which matches the series perfectly and makes a nice change these days.

Good end to an unrated series!
hellofreshprince20 January 2023
Simply, if your a fan of the series you'll love this.

The film, which stars Tom Rosenthal and Jon Ponting amongst others, sees the Plebs gang join the army during peacetime - and then try their best to survive when war is unexpectedly declared.
