- On the brink of turning 30, endearing misfit AMELIA searches for signs to show her how to deal with her obsessive parents, her eccentric boss and her virginity.
- Bread and Butter is a story about Amelia (30), an endearing misfit and virgin, who starts to be pursued by two men at the same time. One man is trying desperately to keep control of his life while the other embraces Crazy. In the midst of all the romantic confusion, Amelia has to deal with her eccentric boss, a life coach named Dr. Wellburn, and her overbearing parents. Bread and Butter aims to be a character study of one neurotic, sexually inexperienced girl being thrown into the gauntlet of romantic pursuit.—Liz Manashil
- Thirtyish Amelia Karinsky, the receptionist at the office of eccentric life coach "Dr." Mark Wellburn who has issues with boundaries even in the workplace, is afraid of many things in life, which is partly why she doesn't date, doesn't remember what it feels like to kiss or be kissed, and most importantly is still a virgin, although it's not like she doesn't have those thoughts as witnessed by her regularly masturbating. She desperately wants to have a boyfriend and lose her virginity all in one package. In other words, she doesn't want to be with someone solely for sex. Two men enter her life simultaneously that have the potential to fit the bill. The first is Daniel Lodgen, one of Dr. Wellburn's longtime clients, Daniel who has many of the same types of emotional issues as Amelia in that he likes to be around weird people to make himself feel less weird. Although Daniel has long liked Amelia, they getting together is facilitated and encouraged by Dr. Wellburn, who sees it being good for both of them. The second is Leonard Marsh. Amelia fell in love with the idea of Leonard when she picked up a book in a second hand store, his musings of the book and life which he wrote about in the book margins. As such, she searches him out, his name and address which he also wrote in the book. Unemployed Leonard is more a free spirit who is trying to find his place in life. However, scratching just below the surface reveals the fact that Leonard is more screwed up than them all. Through this new phase of Amelia's life, which she wants the aid and support of her best friend, Deirdre Newsome, and Dr. Wellburn to negotiate, she feels she is cosmically being pushed in one direction, her thoughts much like someone who is going through puberty.—Huggo
