Exclusive: Universal Pictures just completed an option on House to House, the memoir of U.S. Army staff sergeant David Bellavia’s harrowing experience in the Second Battle Of Fallujah. The studio, which bought it for Imagine Entertainment, knew just the writer who’d bring an inherent understanding of the subject matter. Universal has set Max Adams, who just turned in a draft to the studio of The Risk Agent, a thriller vehicle for Vince Vaughn. Adams also spent 11 years…...

Matthew McConaughey turned his career around in epic fashion, going from leading forgettable rom-coms to starring in a series of excellent dramas. His McConaissance was made complete this year with the one-two punch of an Oscar win for Dallas Buyers Club and an Emmy nomination for his lead role in HBO’s game-changing True Detective. One of the aspects of the latter series that was so widely admired was its success in handing McConaughey an extremely complex and fascinating character to work with.
Casting is currently under way for True Detective‘s second season, which is likely to give another actor a chance to showcase sizable dramatic chops. Colin Farrell has snagged one of the lead roles, and Taylor Kitsch is still in talks for another. Today, TV Line revealed that it has learned which actor may be gearing up for a McConaissance of his own by taking on another...

While Vince Vaughn is best known for his motormouth in a wide array of comedies, he's been desperate to do something a bit more gritty. Over the past while, he's been lining up no shortage of more serious-minded fare like the the thriller "The Risk Agent," the Randall Wallace-penned "Gunslingers" and road adventure "Triple Time." But it looks like another project has the momentum to cast the actor in a whole new light. Vince Vaughn and Hailee Steinfeld will star in "Term Life." Penned by A.J. Lieberman (and based on his own graphic novel) and set to be directed by Peter Billingsley ("Couples Retreat," and also attached to "Triple Time"), the twisty plot finds Vaughn playing a man who "plans and sells heists to the highest bidder but finds himself hunted by mob bosses, contract killers and dirty cops. To help his estranged daughter Cate (Steinfeld), he takes out...

At one point, Vince Vaughn was really trying to line up some serious movies. In 2012, his name got linked to the thriller "The Risk Agent," the Randall Wallace-penned "Gunslingers" and the action flick "Triple Time." But maybe folks really just want to see him quip and be a hilarious jackass, because that's what he does so well, and it seems the actor is realizing this too. In the past week, Vaughn has lined up an untitled family comedy at Universal, and "Business Trip" with production companies New Regency and Escape Artist. Plot details on the former aren't being revealed just yet but it's being penned by Brian Gatewood and Alex Tanaka, the dudes behind David Gordon Green's "The Sitter," so you can probably guess what to expect. As for the latter it's a "Planes, Trains & Automobiles" style comedy about a businessman whose European trip goes awry. Steve Conrad ("The Weather Man,...

If you’ve noticed a distinct lack of Vince Vaughn comedies lately, there’s a reason for it: he has been looking to establish himself as an action star.
Variety is reporting that Vaughn has signed on to play a U.S. marshal facing a explosive conspiracy in the action-thriller Triple Time, reteaming with director Peter Billingsley, who worked with Vaughn on Couples Retreat.
The role of the prisoner Vaughn’s marshal is escorting by plane, with whom he will have to figure out who is behind the transport plane’s explosion, has yet to be cast. Something tells me it won’t be Ben Stiller though.
This marks the third recently announced departure project for Vaughn, who also has action-oriented pictures The Risk Agent and Gunslingers, penned by Braveheart screenwriter Randall Wallace, lined up.
It’s interesting that he is choosing to go in this direction, although with his...

Vince Vaughn wants to make an action movie. Correction: he really wants to make an action movie. The past little while has seen his name get attached to atypical material for the comic actor, including the thriller "The Risk Agent" and the Randall Wallace-penned "Gunslingers." And now his name has been linked to another action-oriented project. Vaughn has signed up to star in "Triple Time." Penned by Michael J. Wilson and Peter Billingsley (the latter will direct), the film will find Vaughn playing a U.S. Marshall who crashes weddings, to score on single women who has to transport a prisoner accused of causing an environmental disaster, to Washington, D.C. But when their plane explodes, they have to team up to figure out who is behind the conspiracy. So sort of a more topical, less funny "Midnight Run"? Hooray? Certainly, for both Vaughn and Billingsley who last teamed on "Couples Retreat,...
