More details are revealed about the source of Juliette's illness, resulting in an epic showdown. Back at the precinct, Hank senses that something is amiss when Nick lands in hot water with the FBI. - Nick deals with the Mauvais Dents, who didn't count on a second Grimm, his mother, assisting him, and manages, backed up by Renard, to get rid of his gun, which would have exposed him during the FBI's investigation for their own agent's death. Monroe and Rosalee concentrate on Juliette's condition, but can't cure her. Asalind's mother however prepares a cure, which she enjoys handing to Renard, the only one who can administer it, albeit requiring agony to purify himself first. Renard also contacts his brother, French prince Eric Renard, who admits having sent the Mauvais Dentes but still shifts the blame. Nick finds a link with the cargo of death.—KGF Vissers
- Juliette remains in a cat-scratch induced coma. Nick, meanwhile, continues to fight the cat-like Mauvais Dentes inside the abandoned lumber mill. After a few furious blows and hard landings, Kelly intervenes. Soon, mother and son are fighting the beast together. Nick's gun falls where he cannot retreive it. Kelly finally gets the Mauvais Dentes in a headlock and demands to know who sent him. Cat-man doesn't answer and eventually dies from a knife wound to the throat. Nick then hurries to the hospital, where Monroe and Rosalee anxiously wait. The group enters Juliette's room. Rosalee instructs Nick to put drops of a special potion into Juliette's black eyes.
Drops administered, Nick and crew leave the hospital. Hank calls with news Nick already knows: two FBI agents and unidentified man have been found dead inside a lumber mill. So Nick leaves to do his day job while Rosalee and Monroe take Kelly back home. It's an awkward car ride, but Kelly finally comes around to admit that Nick trusts Monroe despite him being not quite human. Rosalee impulsively hugs Kelly, who is taken aback but does return the hug. Back at the mill, additional FBI agents find their fallen colleague's cell phone -- and determine the last number dialed was to Nick's phone. Uh oh. Nick is able to retrieve his gun, unseen by the other agents and officers.
At the office, Nick runs the Mauvais Dentes' prints ... and discovers they match the prints on a cargo ship containing a bunch of mauled and dead bodies. The new FBI agents then confront Nick about the cell phone call. Nick lies and says the now-dead agent simply called to get more info on the case. The new agents then request Nick's firearm to run ballistics tests. Nick claimed he did not have his gun with him last night, as he was at the hospital to see Juliette. Earlier, however, Nick surreptitiously tossed his gun into a river. The new agents then request a DNA swab. Nick plays it cool and agrees, but Hank knows something is up. "Don't hang me out to dry," Hank warns his partner.
Later, Renard calls his brother, Eric. Turns out that the cargo ship that carried the Mauvais Dentes is owned by Eric. He sent the creature to kill Nick. Renard urges patience, but his sibling isn't having it. "Any more interference by you, brother, will not be tolerated," Eric warns. "Interference isn't necessary" Renard says. The next day, Catherine enters Rosalee's shop demanding her potion -- at a discount. "Cheapskate doesn't know how close she came to getting her throat ripped out," growls Monroe after Catherine leaves. Says Rosalee: "How sweet! Maybe later."
Rosalee calls Nick with news of Catherine's visit. Kelly then asks her son if she might talk to Catherine ... mother to mother. Nick, who is under surveillance by the FBI, agrees to let Kelly take the lead on this one. Nick then heads to the office, where he is promptly arrested by a pair of angry FBI agents. Renard then heads to Catherine's house to pick up the potion. It is revealed to be purification tonic because the person who awakens Juliette needs to be pure of heart. Of course, the potion is likely to have severe side effects, she tells him with a smirk. As Renard leaves Catherine's home, Kelly watches unnoticed from nearby.
Kelly then lets herself inside to confront mama Hexenbiest. "What's wrong with Juliette?" Kelly asks. Catherine claims, rightly, that she did not do anything. But it was her daughter, Adalind. "You're her mother. You taught her everything." Kelly soon has Catherine in a choke hold. The Hexenbiest admits that there is a prince in Portland and that he's literally a bastard before deciding to fight back. A battle ensues. Punches are thrown. Furniture smashes. In the end, Catherine ends up with a piece of mirror in her neck. Dying breath, Catherine tells Kelly that only "he" can save Juliette.
Nick, meanwhile, is being questioned. The FBI agents explain that they found DNA at the scene that was close enough to Nick's to be a relative. "We want to know who you're covering for," an FBI agent says. Nick says "my mother." Of course, the agents think he's just being sarcastic. Later, Renard drinks the purification potion and immediately starts to convulse violently. He exhales black smoke and falls to the ground. Back at Nick's house, mother and son catch up on current events. Kelly explains that the "he" Catherine mentioned is a prince who is in town. She then tells her son that "it's time for me to go."
Nick gives his mother the coins so she can destroy them. "I wish you could have a normal life," Kelly tells her son. "Don't make the same mistake I did. Don't leave the people you love." Mother and son then embrace through tears. Later, a figure we think is Nick leans over to kiss Juliette, but it is revealed to be Renard. The police captain leaves the room and Juliette awakens. Moments later, Nick rushes into the hospital, just missing seeing Renard, to discover his girlfriend suddenly conscious. Upon seeing Nick, Juliette asks "Who are you?"
