Strong performance by Inari Vachs

Warning: Spoilers
This unusual fantasy/mystery was missing from IMDb for 20 years (I just added it now), and is quite obscure among major porn releases from the early DVD era. Rodger Jacobs (writing as "Martin Brimmer") provided an intriguing screenplay that challenges the viewer, and gives star Inari Vachs a juicy role that she runs with in a strong, entrancing way.

SPOILERS: She is cast no less as Death itself, a sort of beautiful Grim Reaper who keeps popping up in police detective Mickey G's life as a tantalizing, mysterious figure. In the Hitchcockian tradition of suspense rather than surprise, her identity as Death is revealed eary on, with manipulative Inari calmly informing Mickey that she's after him, and that he'll soon be his victim. Mickey continues working on various murder cases with his partner Steve Drake, but her ominous statements hang over his head.

These cases provide us with stimulating sex scenes, which both involve the detectives or have Mickey watching, through Inari's fantastic powers, the crimes of passion unfold as an invisible observer. Among the supporting femmes, Sunrise Adams, at the beginning of her career, was played up as the video's star on the cover of the DVD liner.

The sense of dread is well-sustained by director Wesley Emerson, leading to an inevitable and unnerving finale.

Through it all, Inari is a cruel, smiling presence, always puffing away on a cigar and proving once again why she was considered among the handful of great Adult Cinema actresses of her era.
