Nicolas Cage is going back into the Spider-Verse. Amazon, during its first-ever upfront presentation, announced that Cage will star in “Noir,” the live-action series based on the Spider-Man Noir comic series from Marvel.
Way back in early 2023, IndieWire reported that Amazon was in development on a live-action series inspired by the Spider-Man Noir character, who Cage famously portrayed in the animated “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” as a grizzled, tortured, black-and-white noir gumshoe who also happened to be a superhero bitten by a radioactive spider. But no cast had been confirmed for the live-action show, and Amazon surprised advertisers by revealing that Cage would step back into the role, making it the first time he’s done a TV series since he filmed a pilot at the start of his career.

Maika Monroe and Nicolas Cage star in summer horror movie Longlegs, and a new trailer for the film has landed. Here…
A new, longer trailer for Osgood Perkins’ spider horror Longlegs has emerged online. According to Bloody Disgusting, this trailer has been showing in cinemas in the US.
Well, technically, it’s a theaterical cut of two previous teasers, titled ‘Dirty’ and ‘Sweet’. The trailer begins with the ominous words, “Do you still say your prayers?” and the trailer quickly gets weird. Very weird, but intriguing nonetheless.

Italian media company Be Water, which is in Cannes for the first time, has announced its full roster of partners and scope of business activities comprising film, documentary and scripted TV production as well as theatrical film distribution, podcasts and live events.
While details of the company’s scripted productions are being kept under wraps, Be Water has announced the lineup of films they are releasing locally theatrically in collaboration with Italy’s Medusa, which is handling booking and billing. Besides “Oh, Canada,” the Be Water lineup includes Nicolas Cage horror-thriller “Longlegs,” directed by Osgood Perkin; Russian-American director Michael Lockshin’s “The Master and Margarita” with Claes Bang and August Diehl; and action family adventure “Jim Button and the Wild 13.”
The Rome-based shingle is operating with what is being described as a holistic approach to content production that is congenial to the digital age, which is certainly a novelty for Italy.

Considering how much build-up Longlegs has had – with the stream of teasers, posters and symbols – the horror film had a lot to live up to, at least how it was being marketed. Fortunately for the involved parties, Longlegs looks to be one of the horror flicks to see so far this year, with most praising it for being an unnerving work that features stellar performances and channels The Silence of the Lambs.
Check out some of the early reviews of Longlegs below:
I was so lucky to see #Longlegs, and no exaggeration: it could be the best horror film of ‘24. Oz Perkins can really get under my skin; this is his masterpiece. Monroe gives a fabulously unique lead performance, and Cage? Nightmarish. Maybe the scariest 1st 10 mins, ever. pic.twitter.com/ImMEDDxGXi

Horror fans have been keeping a very close eye on director Osgood Perkins' next project, and the first social media reactions for the mysterious Longlegs are in.
These reactions are highly positive, and it sounds like the movie is a genuinely disturbing, terrifying experience.
Though Longlegs definitely seems to be keeping its biggest secrets firmly under wraps for the time being (and the teasers are all the better for it), we do know that the plot revolves around a rookie FBI agent (It Follows star Maika Monroe) attempting to track down a sadistic serial killer (Nicolas Cage) who targets families.
Cage's character has largely been kept out of the marketing, aside from one unsettling shot.
Check out the social media posts below, and keep an eye out for a new trailer.

Who says this summer is light on blockbuster fare, despite the strikes holding productions and release dates up?
Big movies coming to theaters in the next hot few months include favorite IP getting a 2024 burnish, from “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” to “Alien: Romulus” and “Twisters”. Oh, and a little movie called “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” (May 24), which George Miller will first bring to the Cannes Film Festival before opening it in theaters later that month. Plus, poised to be a Netflix hit this summer is Richard Linklater’s “Hit Man” (May 24 in theaters), playing for a couple of weeks in select cities before the crime comedy starring Glen Powell hits the streaming platform.
But those bigger-ticket titles aside, summer 2024 is a time for indies to shine, from Annie Baker’s long-awaited festival hit “Janet Planet” (June 14) to India Donaldson’s wonderful Sundance premiere “Good One” (August...

Here’s what we know about Longlegs so far. It’s coming in July of 2024, it’s directed by Osgood Perkins (The Blackcoat’s Daughter), and it features Maika Monroe (It Follows) as an FBI agent who discovers a personal connection between her and a serial killer who has ties to the occult. We know that the serial killer is going to be played by none other than Nicolas Cage and that the marketing has been nothing short of cryptic excellence up to this point.
At the very least, we can assume Neon’s upcoming film is going to be a dark, horror-fueled hunt for a serial killer. With that in mind, let’s take a look at five disturbing serial killers-versus-law-enforcement stories to get us even more jacked up for Longlegs.

Harker discovers a personal connection to the killer and must stop him before he strikes again. Longlegs is the latest film from director Oz Perkins. The horror film stars Maika Monroe as Lee Harker, Nicolas Cage, Alicia Witt, Blair Underwood, and Dakota Daulby. There's not much footage to see in here, but the text and the few shots...

Remember Quibi? The short-lived streaming service-turned-punchline, which vastly overestimated how many people felt compelled to watch bite-sized shows and movies on their phones, seems to have done one thing right before being folded into the Roku Channel: allowing creators to retain ownership of their work after a two-year exclusivity window. Not content to let her 13-part thriller series “The Stranger” disappear along with the platform on which it debuted, “The Killing” creator Veena Sud recut the project into a feature film alongside editor Philip Fowler. Gone are the 8-minute episodes named after the hour in which they take place (beginning with 7 p.m. and ending at 7 a.m.), replaced by a 98-minute Hulu feature that shows no sign of having been overhauled.
Six days after moving to Los Angeles with her dog Pebbles, rideshare driver Clare (Maika Monroe) picks up Carl E. (Dane DeHaan) from a mansion that doesn’t belong to him.

I still have fond memories of gathering around the TV with my family on Sunday nights to watch Veena Sud's captivating TV series The Killing (based on Forbrydelsen by Søren Sveistrup), so I'm especially thrilled that Veena's 2020 Quibi series The Stranger (starring Maika Monroe as a rideshare driver who encounters a killer client played by Dane DeHaan) has been recut and re-released as a feature film that's now streaming on Hulu!
Daily Dead had the pleasure of catching up with Veena in a new video interview to discuss the unique multi-year journey of this new version of The Stranger, including the importance of co-owning the copyright to the project, restructuring The Stranger as a feature film, and working with Maika Monroe, Dane DeHaan, Avan Jogia, and their canine co-star Preston!

Veena Sud is no stranger to the tangled streaming rights game when it comes to distribution.
After her Quibi series folded, the filmmaker is now bringing her breakout horror hit “The Stranger” to Hulu with a new director’s cut. “Longlegs” actress and horror staple Maika Monroe plays a rideshare driver who goes through a twelve-hour fight for survival when she picks up Carl (Dane DeHaan), a passenger who becomes her worst nightmare. Avan Jogia co-stars in the former series which is now a feature film.
“The Stranger” began as a Quibi series, which meant that Sud co-owned the copyright to the work, as part of the Quibi business model. Sud is now able to “self-distribute” the footage, recut as a feature.

A Stephen King horror story about a malevolent (sort of) doll almost sounds like something that could've been written specifically for James Wan to turn into a movie. But while the filmmaker behind "Saw," "Insidious," "The Conjuring," and "Malignant" is indeed involved in adapting "The Monkey" -- a short story King wrote for Gallery magazine in 1980 before later including it in his 1985 collection "Skeleton Crew" -- for the screen, he's only lending his services as a producer.
Instead, "The Monkey" is being written and directed by Osgood "Oz" Perkins, son of "Psycho" actor Anthony Perkins and the mind behind such creepily atmospheric and inventively stylized horror pictures as "The Blackcoat's Daughter," "I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House," and "Gretel & Hansel". Osgood Perkins is also currently riding high thanks to the buzz around "Longlegs," his upcoming occult serial killer horror-thriller that boasts one of the most intriguing trailers in recent memory.

Almost a year has gone by since it was announced that Theo James of The White Lotus had signed on to star in a Stephen King adaptation called The Monkey, coming from the team of producer / genre regular James Wan and director Osgood Perkins, whose credits include The Blackcoat’s Daughter (a.k.a. February), I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House, Gretel & Hansel, and the upcoming Nicolas Cage horror film Longlegs. Longlegs won’t be reaching theatres until July 12th, but Deadline reports that filming on The Monkey has already wrapped. Their report also revealed the names of several cast members who will be sharing the screen with James: Elijah Wood (The Lord of the Rings), Tatiana Maslany (She–Hulk: Attorney at Law), Christian Convery (Sweet Tooth), Colin O’Brien (Wonka), Rohan Campbell (Halloween Ends), and Sarah Levy (Schitt’s Creek).
Perkins wrote the screenplay for The Monkey, working from a King short story.

There’s his Moroccan nephew Bahlul (Qaher Harhash), a beautiful model badly injured with a broken leg and convalescing at said brownstone, with nowhere else to go and identity questions of his own. Veena Sud's 2010s TV series The Killing (based on Forbrydelsen by Søren Sveistrup) is still one of the most enthralling viewing experiences I've ever had, so I'm especially thrilled that Veena's 2020 Quibi series The Stranger (starring Maika Monroe as a rideshare driver who encounters a killer client plalyed by Dane DeHaan) has been re-cut as a feature film that will arrive on Hulu on April 15th:

Once upon a time, a bunch of disgustingly wealthy entertainment executives got together with a dream — a dream that answers the question, "What if people consumed film and TV in short segments like a TikTok playlist, but on a brand new platform that no one is going to pay to use with a bananas ridiculous name?" The result was Quibi, a short-form streaming platform that went as quickly as it came, shutting down after only seven months of operation and hemorrhaging over a billion dollars from investors.
The downfall of Quibi rivals that of fellow colossal "good idea on paper but never gonna happen in execution" entertainment failure, MoviePass, but came with the depressing caveat that Quibi actually produced a huge chunk of *content* that was now at risk of being drop-kicked into the unstreamable void of tax write-off and nothingness unless other platforms stepped in to save them. On the movie screen, Jennifer Lopez is known for being a romantic comedy queen in films like "Maid in Manhattan," "Monster-in-Law," and "Marry Me." However, on Netflix, she appears to be pursuing a wholly different crown and going after action movie and genre glory. Sure, Lopez has made her share of genre thrillers, especially early in her career: "Money Train," "Anaconda," "U Turn," and "Out of Sight," most notably. Yet it's her turn in 2023's "The Mother" that marked her debut as a fully-fledged action star and now she's following that up with a lead performance in a big-budget sci-fi shoot 'em up, if the new trailer for Netflix's "Atlas" is any indication.
As a co-producer as well as star of "Atlas," Lopez has put together a pretty promising team to bring her next Netflix-distributed action venture to life. Alongside co-stars Simu Liu, Sterling K. Brown, and Mark Strong, the...

We’ve been paying a lot of attention to the upcoming Osgood Perkins / Nicolas Cage horror movie Longlegs recently, getting ready for that film’s July 12th theatrical release… but today, Deadline has revealed that another Cage thriller will be reaching theatres before Longlegs! That’s the survival thriller Arcadian (formerly known as Sand and Stones), which Rlje Films will be bringing to theatres on April 12th. The movie will then be going to the Shudder and AMC+ streaming services later in the year.
Scripted by Michael Nilon (Braven), Arcadian has the following synopsis: In the future, in a sparsely populated world, normal life has been decimated. Paul and his twin teenage sons, Thomas and Joseph, have managed to claw out an existence in their remote farmhouse, yet they live in constant fear. When the sun sets, ferocious creatures of the night awaken to hunt and consume all living souls in their path.

“Every year, there is another.” Dropped on Twitter last past weekend, a cryptic teaser that fans had to decipher and translate, Neon showed us all—even those who didn’t understand what they were seeing—the first look at “Longlegs.” An FBI horror thriller that sounds a little like “Silence Of The Lambs” in its mix of crime agencies and horror films, the movie is written and directed by Oz Perkins, the filmmaker behind “The Blackcoat’s Daughter,” “I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House” and episodes of “The Twilight Zone” (Perkins is also an actor and the son of classic Hollywood actor Anthony Perkins).

In an era of marketing where most studios just drop a full-length trailer on YouTube and in theaters, hoping viewers will be impressed enough to buy tickets even though they’ve often already unveiled the best parts, the distributors that go a different path have our attention. The first teaser has been released for Perkins’ so-far-so-mysterious “Longlegs,” out from Neon on July 12, with the director here officially credited as “Osgood Perkins,” also the name of the filmmaker’s grandfather.
The horror movie, which centers on an occult killing spree and one detective’s personal connection to it, stars “It Follows” scream queen Maika Monroe as an FBI agent assigned to a cold case now reawakened. But she soon uncovers a close-to-home link to the crimes, perhaps being orchestrated by Nicolas Cage as the murderer. Blair Underwood and Alicia Witt also star.
Perkins directed his own original screenplay for the Neon release — produced by Cage’s Saturn Pictures, Range, Traffic, Oddfellows, and C2 Motion Picture Group — that shot in Vancouver in early 2023. The marketing so far has been pretty mysterious...

"You've got the teeth of the hydra upon you." It's finally time. After letting this trailer play in theaters for a month already, Neon has released the teaser trailer for Longlegs online for everyone to watch. It's one of the best modern teaser trailers ever made - a brilliant remix of the Alien text slow title reveal, but this time for an eerie serial killer horror thriller. FBI Agent Lee Harker is assigned to an unsolved serial killer case that takes unexpected turns, revealing evidence of the occult. Harker discovers a personal connection to the killer and must stop him before he strikes again. Longlegs is the latest film from director Oz Perkins - all those creepy teases were leading up to this. The horror film stars Maika Monroe as Lee Harker, Nicolas Cage, Alicia Witt, Blair Underwood, and Dakota Daulby. This is such a disquiting, frightening, captivating teaser -...

Ever since the dawn of the internet, the art of the tease in marketing upcoming films has essentially gone extinct. We're all used to living in a 24/7 entertainment news cycle, where it's easy for the average layman (let alone Hollywood insider) to know which actor has signed a deal to appear in what movie before the thing ever gets made, let alone premiere on cinema screens. Nostalgic cinephiles like myself long for the days when teaser trailers were a regular phenomenon, made almost expressly to announce to general audiences that these movies are coming soon without giving much (or hardly anything) away.
Although the general trend for movie trailers these days is to essentially throw the baby out with the bathwater in terms of cast, plot, big highlight moments, and the like, teaser trailers do still occasionally get made, and it's always a special occasion when these trailers actually, well,...

‘Longlegs’ Teaser Trailer – New Horror Movie from Osgood Perkins Dives into the Nine Circles of Hell
Neon’s mysterious marketing campaign for Longlegs has set the stage for one of the most hotly anticipated trailer reveals of the year, and the wait is finally over this afternoon.
The upcoming serial killer horror movie marks the return of director Osgood Perkins (The Blackcoat’s Daughter, Gretel & Hansel). Nicolas Cage stars alongside Maika Monroe, with Monroe playing an FBI agent and Cage playing a serial killer.
Longlegs is said to be “in the vein of classic Hollywood psychological thrillers.”
This first look at the movie doesn’t tell us much more about it than we already know, instead conveying an unsettling atmosphere that’s loaded up with mysterious visuals. We get several shots of Maika Monroe’s character (FBI Agent Lee Harker), a glimpse of a book exploring the Nine Circles of Hell, and even a person being killed from behind with an axe. Whatever’s going on here,...

Grim, dead of winter foreboding, and a hint of an aged photograph aesthetic set the tone for Osgood Perkins' latest period film, Longlegs. Perkins is a kind of specialist in slow burn chillers. His previous films February or I Am The Pretty Thing That Lives In The House are underrated in a modern-yet-bygone-era kind of way, and well worth seeking out. To that end, the new key art from design-house Grandson captures the distant, formidable isolation of rural areas in the mid to late 20th century. Longlegs is set in 1975. A clean off-white and slightly underexposed design favours bold red title cards; the ones that generally signal Horror Film. It is the unnatural, uneven, kerning that seals the deal here, it adds just a bit more...
