Indie horror Faults and Venezuelan chiller The House At The End Of Time are two of the films in this month's Bottom Shelf...
Summer holidays, barbecues on the beach and weekends decimated by relentless weddings: this is August for some. For other, more discerning types, it is about Frightfest, otherwise known as the chance to spend those rare sunny days ensconced in a darkened room for a horror movie marathon. This year’s Leicester Square event featured the usual mix of gonzo gore, copycat-killings and premiere screenings of future favourites; we managed to catch a few highlights.
The latest film from writer and director Riley Stearns (Mary Elizabeth Winstead’s husband, fact fans), Faults, received a European premiere last month. Massively enjoyable from start to finish, Stearns’ black comedy mostly eschews the genre necessity of scattergun bloody slayings in favour of an intelligent script focusing on the gaping voids left in desperate characters’ lives.

While we await some release details for Raised By Wolves, the Butcher Brothers - Mitchell Altieri and Phil Flores - are moving forward on their next production: A Beginners Guide to Snuff.
The film follows two none-too-bright actors desperately trying to make it in Hollywood. As a result, they decide to make a pretend snuff film as a way to jumpstart their careers.
In order to make the film seem more realistic they kidnap an unsuspecting actress so they can capture a moment of pure terror that has never been seen before on film.

The Butcher Brothers (Mitchell Altieri and Phil Flores) have reteamed for the found footage film - Raised by Wolves. This film is currently in post-production, from Helios Productions and San Francisco Independent Cinema. A supernatural horror film, Raised by Wolves now has an official trailer. As well, the film stars porn actress Jenna Haze and actors Keith Roenke and Evan Crooks. The story begins with several amateur skaterboarders. Rumours tell of a haunted home, with an empty pool (perfect for riding). The skaters head up to the isolated locale, only to find that the rumours are true. Spirits inhabit their bodies, until no one remains. Fans of found footage or possession themed horror can take a look at the first clip. Full of shaky camera work, the trailer shows some of the horrors found in one deadly home. Director: Mitchell Altieri. Writers: Mitchell Altieri, Phil Flores and Cory Knauf. Cast: Jenna Haze,...
