"Let it Burn"
allmoviesfan10 October 2023
For me, "Let it Burn" was just a standard NCIS: Los Angeles episode (or one that could have worked for any other NCIS franchise, substituting characters and some locations).

What I did enjoy was Admiral Kilbride's continuing (and not yet exhausting...although that threshold might be coming soon) Grumpy Old Man routine, and Rountree's awkward reunion with an ex-girlfriend FBI agent.

Not a great, but also not a bad, just one that you won't remember all that long after the final credits roll. I guess there's bound to be a few of that type of episode over fourteen twenty-something seasons of television.

Warning: Spoilers
I always find it funny that people go out of their way to notice little misbehaviors by the actors on this show and how they fire guns and whatnot because none of this stuff particularly matters to me. I just want entertaining stories and yet again this felt like a throwaway episode.

NCIS: Los Angeles probably brings in more recurring cops and one-off stars to fill some authority role than a lot of other programs on TV, but a lot of these people lack personality and the ability to play off the others. Did not seem to be impressed at all by the female counterpart here and her dynamic at play with Roundtree.

What a bore episode

Warning: Spoilers
The plot of the week was boring and wasn't exciting like most plots recently. The character writing wasn't helping the episode either. First was Callen and Kilbride scenes. So Kilbride doesn't like that Callen is looking someone from his past (the all Callen was going trough indoctrination as a child) so he gives him info about the guy in charge, telling Callen that he thinks it's hurting his job. Now we saw Callen doing his job just fine the last few episodes. And if it's hurting his job WHY give HIM THE FILE ON THE JOB!! It doesn't make any sense. I love love the actor but Kilbride is just annoying character he doesn't add anything to the story only being old grouchy and yelling on the team, team that is doing this business for over a decade. It's just too much.

The other writing isn't helping the episode either. Roundtree is just boring character and his GF from the past was blah a. Fatima listening in and giving gossips to everyone was just too juvenile for a fed.

I'm trying to understand that even tho we aren't in covid time we still don't get big cast scenes together. Deeks and Callen were in the same building but didn't share screen time.
