While examining a devastating crime like femicide it can be easy to overlook the unseen victims. Those loved ones whose lives have been shattered. Those left behind to do the seemingly impossible - pick up the pieces and move on. This impactful documentary tells the story of 3 siblings that were orphaned after the murder of their mother. Now adults, the siblings each give their account of life in the wake of the tragedy. Through creative and innovative storytelling we are given a behind the scenes look at their everyday struggles and hopes for a better future. Ultimately uplifting, the film recognizes the resilience of the human spirit and the potential for an individual to create positive change.

Heartbreaking yet powerful and hopeful

This is a heart-wrenching documentary that sheds light on the often-overlooked and devastating issue of feminicide. Through the voice of 3 siblings-orphans left in the wake of gender-based violence, this film takes viewers on an emotional journey that is both eye-opening and deeply impactful.

The documentary's strength lies in its ability to humanize the statistics and headlines we often encounter about feminicide. By focusing on the lives of these three orphans, it forces the audience to confront the painful reality that countless families endure due to gender-based violence in Mexico. The director skillfully puts together personal narratives, interviews, and powerful visuals to create a poetic narrative that stays with you long after the credits roll.

The film also addresses the broader societal issues that contribute to feminicide, such as deeply ingrained patriarchal norms and the lack of legal and social support systems for victims in mexico. It serves as a powerful call to action, urging viewers to not only empathize with the survivors but also to become advocates for change.

The documentary's soundtrack adds depth to the storytelling, enhancing the overall viewing experience along with some powerful dancing scenes that make you cry.

While the documentary is undeniably a difficult watch due to its heavy subject matter, it is a necessary one. It reminds us of the urgent need to address the global epidemic of feminicide and the lifelong consequences it has on survivors. This documentary serves as a powerful testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the importance of raising awareness and seeking justice for the victims of gender-based violence. It is a film that deserves to be seen by a wide audience, as it has the potential to ignite meaningful conversations and drive positive change.

Powerful and devastating

This documentary about those 'left behind' after a feminicide is brilliant in its manufacture and devastating at its core.

Few of us ever stop to think about the family that survives a murder case; this film follows 3 survivors who witnessed the unthinkable and how their lives were transformed because of it. Three lives with three perspectives after a few years of a tragedy.

One of the things that I admire the most about this film is that it succeeds in telling the stories of people who underwent disaster without capitalizing on their pain. The views are sincere, smart and clear with minimal use of talking heads.

Every part of this documentary is splendid. If you haven't already go watch it now and expect to be transformed by it.
