Kelly Clarkson just proved why she's the original American Idol winner.
On a night of nostalgia and congratulations, the season 1 champion went down memory lane, performing a medley of her greatest hits on Thursday's series finale.
Clarkson, 33, kicked off her pre-taped mini-concert with her 2003 single "Miss Independent" then seamlessly went into "Break Away," "Since U Been Gone" and "Because of You."
But that's not all. The star, who is pregnant with baby number two, also belted out her hits "Walk Away," "My Life Would Suck Without You," "Don't You Wanna Stay," "Stronger," "Heartbreak Song" and "Invincible."

There's a certain thrill in hearing the most ubiquitous pop song reimagined in a totally different style, and there's no pop singer who knows this better than covers queen Kelly Clarkson. In the midst of a summer that brought us Clarkson's soulful takes on “Bitch Better Have My Money” and “Blank Space,” we turn the tables with a delightful cover of her 2003 empowerment pop anthem "Miss Independent.” This lo-fi psych-punk treatment by Palehound, a.k.a. promising Boston indie-rocker Ellen Kempner, really highlights the infectious little riffs propelling Kelly’s original, yet the song doesn’t lose one bit of the vulnerability that made listeners connect to it in the first place."I used to be totally obsessed with American Idol, and when I heard it was ending, I started listening to a ton of Kelly Clarkson again, and became obsessed like never before,” Kempner says. “She's an amazing role...

The Kelly Clarkson Songbook. That's what we're getting on Wednesday (April 1) night's "American Idol." This is not to question Kelly Clarkson's awesomeness or even the very-goodness of Kelly Clarkson's discography, but there are some people in this "Idol" season who seem like they're going to be well-suited to tonight's theme and other people for home this may be excruciating, especially since the "Idol" voters are back in female-shunning mode this season. Let's see how things go... 8:00 p.m. Et. Greetings from Toronto, where I'm in town visiting the set of "The Strain." Because of timing, I may be pushing my "Survivor" recap to tomorrow morning. But "Idol"? On time! 8:03 p.m. J-Lo Fashion Show Time and she's wearing shorts and a largely concealing top. She still doesn't kneel to greet the crowd. How about the fact that in 2003, people were listening to -- and enjoying -- songs by Lumidee and Wayne Wonder that not only sounded exactly the same, but were also horrible. Fortunately the rest of the year's offerings were more acceptable and lasting. To wit: "Crazy In Love" and "In Da Club" would rank as the best singles released in 2013 -- apologies to Daft Punk, Robin Thicke, Bruno Mars and the rest of this year's artists reaching into the 1970s to find the next great pop hit.
Ahead, the 32 songs you loved in 2003.
1. Beyonce, "Crazy in Love"
2. The Black Eyed Peas, "Where Is The Love?"
3. Fountains of Wayne, "Stacy's Mom"
4. Fall Out Boy, "Grand Theft Autumn/Where Is Your Boy"
5. Justin Timberlake, "Cry Me a River"
6. Simple Plan, "Addicted"
7. Kym Marsh, "Come On Over"
8. S Club 8, "Fool No More"
9. Lil Kim feat.

I wanted Justin Guarini to win "American Idol."
Week after week, I'd follow the brand-new Fox reality show, which pitted wannabe pop stars against each other in a fan-voted singing competition. Then hosted by Ryan Seacrest and Brian Dunkleman (remember him?) and judged by Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson, 'Idol' became an instant television and pop culture hit with its simple premise, witty and refreshingly harsh critiques and, of course, talent. Runner-up Guarini charmed viewers at the time with his curly locks and winning smile, but admittedly, I don't remember his voice at all. Heartthrob culture: it's a legitimately blinding phenomenon among impressionable young girls.
Although I actively campaigned against winner Kelly Clarkson — I distinctly remember yelling at my sister to cheer for Guarini or keep quiet as I watched the finale — her voice was undeniably memorable. She might have slid through the preliminary rounds of the show,...

Kelly Clarkson fell for her fiance the first time she saw him. The 'Miss Independent' singer says it was love at first sight for her when she met Brandon Blackstock but was devastated when she realised he was married at the time. She said: 'This guy walks by and I said, 'Like that guy - hot, normal, funny, because he was making everybody laugh. I said, I'm gonna end up with him, I know it.' 'For the next six years I'd go on dates and be like, 'Man I didn't get that feeling I got that first time with Brandon.' However, when they met up at last year's Super Bowl, Brandon was divorced and the pair reconnected. She explained to...

Kelly Clarkson cried when her fiance proposed. The 'Miss Independent' singer is set to marry Brandon Blackstock after he popped the question this month and Kelly couldn't contain her emotions when he presented her with a diamond ring. A source said: 'It was a proper proposal, very romantic. And yes she cried.' Friends believe Kelly, 30, was so emotional because she despaired of ever finding true love following an unsuccessful romantic past. The source added to Us Weekly magazine: 'Kelly had a rough start with love for sure and a long dry spell. But Brandon was worth the wait. Well, third time was apparently the charm for ladies' luck with "The Voice." After two consecutive male champions, 23-year-old Floridian pop punker Cassadee Pope was crowned the winner. She was the favorite to win this year and constantly had songs on iTunes' Top 10, which gave her many, many extra votes.
Naturally, as with any season finale results show, "The Voice" filled up 120 minutes with plenty of musical acts until the results were revealed. Though Rihanna and Bruno Mars also took the stage, we've decided to only take a look at the performances that include coaches, finalists or other former "Voice" Season 3 competitors because who are we to tell you that "Diamonds" is Rihanna's worst single yet (it is) and Bruno Mars' song was a trip to snoozeville (Christina seemed to struggle to keep her eyes open)?
Below, get the lowdown on those 11 (yes, 11) performances, say goodbye to Cee Lo Green...

"Miss Independent" singer Kelly Clarkson is about to be a Mrs.
The first-ever "American Idol" winner and her boyfriend, Brandon Blackstock, got engaged Friday (Dec. 14). Clarkson shared the news with her 2 million-plus Twitter followers Saturday afternoon.
"I'm Engaged!!!!!" she writes. "I wanted y'all to know!! Happiest night of my life last night! I am so lucky and am with the greatest man ever :)"
Clarkson and Blackstock, a talent manager and the son of Clarkson's manager Narvel Blackstock, have been dating for about 10 months. Clarkson said on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" last month that a lot of people assumed she and Blackstock were engaged already.
"We are totally going to get married," she told DeGeneres. "We love each other. We are totally going to get married one day. No, he has two children and I'm new ... I mean, he's got to put it a ring on it at some point.

It doesn't seem possible that Kelly Clarkson has been around long enough to be putting out a greatest hits record, but as Randy Jackson pointed out at the American Music Awards on Sunday night, it's been a decade since Clarkson auditioned for "American Idol" with a refreshing rendition of Etta James' "At Last."
In a brilliant promotional move for said Greatest Hits album, Clarkson performed a medley of favorites from her career. She began the performance with a number pinned to her dress and three "judges" looking on from the stage -- though Jackson had already given her his stamp of approval, calling her "so dope" during his introduction.
After "Miss Independent," she ditched the audition number and belted out "Since U Been Gone," "Stronger," and "Catch My Breath." In a sea of lip-syncing popstars and overdone boy bands, her strong voice and flawless delivery is always a welcome addition to any awards show.

Los Angeles — There's a reason Kelly Clarkson has performed duets with country superstars like Reba McEntire, Jason Aldean and Vince Gill but never one of her Top 40 colleagues in the 10 years since she became the first "American Idol". They've turned her down – eight times.
"I have, like, 5,000 duets in country music," Clarkson says, flashing a smile. "I don't have one in pop. That's legitimately because everyone turns me down. I'm not even kidding. I've asked sooo many artists to sing with me. Everyone legitimately turns me down! The only one that hasn't was Chris Daughtry."
The sugary sweet pop star who's called Nashville, Tenn., home for the past six years isn't naming names (and much to the dismay of fans, her collaborations with fellow "Idol" alum Daughtry were never released.) While she hasn't exactly been able to hook up with the perfect pop ally, Clarkson has found a partner outside the recording studio.

Kelly Clarkson, the original American Idol and champion of the lady anthem, isn't exactly bumping "Since U Been Gone."
"Sometimes, I can't listen to really old school songs ... because they just use so much autotune when it's not needed that it kills me. I can't listen to it," Clarkson said in an interview with CNN. "What I love about that though is on songs like 'Miss Independent,' not only was it autotune, I just sounded different, I sounded so young."
The singer released her first album, "Thankful," in 2003. In the near-decade since, Clarkson has released four other records, and has been met with largely positive critical reception -- winning 12 Billboard Music Awards, two Grammy Awards, and six Teen Choice Awards.
Clarkson is releasing a compilation CD, "Greatest Hits - Chapter 1," on Nov. 19. The album features some of her favorites such as "Miss Independent," "Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)," and "Behind These Hazel Eyes,...

Kelly Clarkson has revealed that she avoids listening to her earliest hits. The first American Idol winner - who stormed the charts with her debut single 'A Moment Like This' in 2002 - admitted to CNN that autotune was overused in some of her older tracks. "Sometimes, I can't listen to really old school songs... because they just use so much autotune when it's not needed that it kills me," Clarkson explained. "I can't listen to it." The star went on to say: "What I love about that though is on songs like 'Miss Independent,' not only was it autotune, I just sounded different, (more)...

Kelly Clarkson’s “Greatest Hits—Chapter 1” doesn’t hit streets for another month, but today we get the track listing and cover art. The artwork, which is a little cheesy, ties in with the “Chapter 1” theme and looks like a book cover. The story goes back to the beginning, including “A Moment Like This,” Clarkson’s first single after winning the first edition of “American Idol” in 2002, and extends through Clarkson’s fifth studio album, 2011’s “Stronger.” In addition to popular tunes, such as “Miss Independent,” “Because of You,” “Breakaway” and “Since U Been Gone,” the set also includes new track “Catch My...

Miss Independent has met her match! Kelly Clarkson knew Brandon Blackstock was the one the first time they met. "I was like, 'Dude I gotta know that guy,'" she said on Ryan Seacrest's Kiis-fm radio show Thursday. "We were just in a room together, and then he came up and said he was from the same hometown as me and I was like, 'Oh we're so getting married,' I was so that girl. When he became single, I was on the prowl." Clarkson, 30, has been dating Blackstock, the son of her manager and stepson of Reba McEntire, since last year. But don't expect to see a ring on her finger too soon though. "We're taking it slow, and we're enjoying each...

Kelly Clarkson revealed on October 4 that she would not only be releasing a Greatest Hits Album, but that it would contain three new songs!
The first, Catch My Breath, debuted this morning on Ryan Seacrest's Kiss FM show and it's a sweet up-tempo ballad (listen below). Kelly also called in (from a castle in Ireland, no biggie) to talk about what inspired her to write this song!

"My label came to me with the idea [of a Greatest Hits Album] and I was like, "Really? I'm 30!" I feel like that's something you do when you don't have something else to put out," she laughed. "So, Catch My Breath, we wrote it specifically for the fact of "10 years, wow." I feel like I'm finally starting to be happy and settled and figuring out stuff. That's why I wrote it."

"Hart of Dixie" finally returns for Season 2 on Tuesday, Oct. 2 at 8 p.m. on The CW, which means we finally find out whether Zoe chooses sexy bartender Wade or sexy lawyer George, both of whom finally followed through on their feelings for her in the Season 1 finale. Zap2it caught an early screening of the premiere, and can assure you that it's as delightfully fun and funny and twisty as ever. Read on for details from the episode, including the exact time when Wilson Bethel goes shirtless.
Important things first: Bethel doesn't take off his top until after the title card, so you'll have to be patient until then.
Photos: What to expect from Fall TV's returning shows
The episode picks up the morning after the big storm, which you'll recall was the same night George dumped Lemon and confessed his love to Zoe, who had already slept with Wade.
