A Russian artefact is stolen off a boat docked at Marina Del Rey, there are two dead Russians left aboard, and you'll never guess whose boat it was... everyone's favourite reformed and out of action KGB spook Arkady Kolchek, who may not be quite as retired as he claimed. And - bonus - the only survivor of the maritime shootout is an old flame of Arkady's. They'll always have Malta...
Look, it's a fact: we all need more Arkady Kolcheck in our lives. The former KGB agent (not to mention soon to be father in law of one G Callen) doesn't often grace our screens these days, but when he does, you can guarantee that the NCIS: Los Angeles episode in question will be excellent. And 'Blood Bank' is no different.
Arkady's scenes with Admiral Kilbride were brilliant. Kind of like Grumpy Old Men but with Cold War-era spies. Fantastic back and forth. It's a shame we didn't see more of them together.
A fun episode.
