Luca's mundane, bossy mother Carla hosts a family dinner in Urbino, where the couple announces their marriage plans, to their mothers' horror. Luca takes Fanny to the customary rustic retreat 'for the weekend', but while running for their chasing parents to his doting 'nonna' (grandmother) confides he dropped out of college and while preparing the eloped wedding spoiling her dreams that he plans to emigrate to Canada.
