Sergio Di Zio: Constable Michelangelo 'Spike' Scarlatti

Quotes

  • Stuart : [From edge of building]  Just stay there.

Mike Scarlatti : I'm not going anywhere. Listen to me. You took a chance today, you looked out beyond your life and you imagined something better. And you went for it. And you know what? Maybe it was foolish, maybe you overreached.

    Stuart : Yeah you think?

Mike Scarlatti : But the point is, it happens. My God Stuart, it happens all the time. When the heart's involved we botch things up, it's how we're wired. But the thing is it could all be made better. All of it. You know why? Because you acted out of love. And when you do that, those mistakes you make they can be corrected. All of it. Now you made some questionable choices today, that you are gonna feel bad about for a while. But there is one choice you could've made, that you would've regretted forever, you know what that is? It's doing nothing. Doing nothing is easy Stuart, to hide away, to put up walls. The hardest part is reaching out. And you did that. You took that chance. Today is a beginning, it's not an end.

  • Stuart : I'm no good out there.

Mike Scarlatti : No, that's where you're wrong.

Stuart : Yeah how do you know?

Mike Scarlatti : Because I watched you with Rebecca, and I saw how you talked to her, and I saw your honesty, your generosity. And I saw an open heart, and I saw you listen. And you know what Stuart, that's it, that is the ball game, if you can do that everything else, it will come.

Stuart : You really believe that?

Mike Scarlatti : Oh I know it. You and I, we're not so different.

Stuart : Yeah right, look at you.

Mike Scarlatti : It's mostly gear.

    [Stuart laughs]

    Mike Scarlatti : Trust me.

  • Mike Scarlatti : [Spike approaches Winnie's desk all dressed up]  Hey Winnie.

Winnie Camden : Hey, what's up?

[Winnie notices Spike is staring at her]

Winnie Camden : Are you alright?

Mike Scarlatti : Uh, what, yeah. It's just uh, it's been brought to my attention that uh. Wait, let me rewind.

    [clears throat]

Mike Scarlatti : Would you like to go out to dinner with me sometime?

Winnie Camden : Spike, you're asking me out.

    Mike Scarlatti : I am.

Winnie Camden : Well I don't know what to say.

Mike Scarlatti : Tongue-tied, that's gotta be a good sign.

Winnie Camden : Yeah... no, I just um, I'm flattered but I don't date cops.

    Mike Scarlatti : Ever?

Winnie Camden : I'm sorry, it's just my rule.

Mike Scarlatti : Okay. Just so I know is this one of those rules where you use it just to let guys down easy.

    Winnie Camden : No.

Mike Scarlatti : No, like one of those rules where the perfect guy comes along, and the rule would go out the window.

Winnie Camden : No, no, no, it's just one of those rules that, it just reminds me that I need balance in my life. I mean the perfect guy just came along.

[Spike realizes what Winnie said and they exchange smiles]

    Mike Scarlatti : Okay.

  • Winnie Camden : [Leah watches Spike and Winnie talking at her desk]  No it was a disaster, not spicy though.

Mike Scarlatti : See that's why you never cook without an assistant.

    Winnie Camden : You offering?

    Mike Scarlatti : No I can't...

    Winnie Camden : Oh you.

[Spike walks away, both he and Winnie giggling]

Mike Scarlatti : [Spike sits next to Leah]  Okay.

[Spike sees Leah giving him a weird look]

    Mike Scarlatti : What?

Leah Kerns : You ever gonna tell her?

    Mike Scarlatti : Who?

    [Leah looks over to Winnie]

Mike Scarlatti : Why you communicating in looks?

Leah Kerns : Spike, you're incapable of walking past Winnie's desk without tryin to make her laugh.

Mike Scarlatti : Oh, wow Leah, that's so far off.

Leah Kerns : You should tell her how you feel.

Mike Scarlatti : Sort of embarrassing how far off that is.

Leah Kerns : Point is Spike there's no up side in keeping it secret.

Mike Scarlatti : I'm not keeping anything secret.

Leah Kerns : You're right about that.

Winnie Camden : [Spike smiles at Leah]  Hey Spike can you come take a look at this?

Mike Scarlatti : Excuse me Leah, I've got work to do.

  • Mike Scarlatti : [Sees Stuart sitting on a railing on edge of a building]  Stuart!

Stuart : No just don't, don't, don't come near me.

Mike Scarlatti : Okay, then I'm gonna stay right here. Stuart, I know you were trying to help someone you care about today. You were trying to put some bad characters behind bars. Those are noble goals.

Stuart : I saw you on the road today. You're the one who looked into the camera.

    Mike Scarlatti : That's right.

Stuart : How do you know what I did today?

Mike Scarlatti : I spied on you, I tapped into your webcam. I used your program against you. And I went into your private video files.

Stuart : Then you know Rebecca's in trouble because of me, 'cause of my stupidity and my lies. Isn't she?

    [Spike doesn't respond]

    Stuart : Isn't she!

[Stuart puts one leg over edge of railing]

Mike Scarlatti : No, no! Wait wait wait wait ! Stuart, Stuart!

  • Stuart : You used my own Malware against me huh?

Mike Scarlatti : It's a beautiful piece of code, it's hugely illegal on so many levels but it's really, it's quite spectacular buddy.

    [Cautiously walks over to Stuart]

Mike Scarlatti : Can you come back on my side? C'mon, right here, I gotcha.

[Helps bring Stuart away from the edge]

Mike Scarlatti : There you go.

  • Wendy Travis : [Sees Spike setting up a road block]  Officer Scarlatti, Detective Travis. We put hail out on all the frequencies so whoever's driving that truck isn't listening.

Mike Scarlatti : Lets hope he's a visual person.

  • Truck Driver : [Being pulled from trunk of getaway car]  Where's my rig?

Gregory Parker : It's alright sir, we'll get your truck back.

Truck Driver : I don't car about the truck it's the cargo. That trailer's full of anhydrous ammonia.

Mike Scarlatti : [From scene of the roadblock]  Pull the roadblock. Tear it down!

    Wendy Travis : What?

    Mike Scarlatti : Now!

Gregory Parker : Talk to me Spike.

Mike Scarlatti : Boss, anhydrous ammonia is a pressurized liquid gas. It's very toxic, and extremely volatile. Our rig gets into a wreck it's gonna blow everything sky high!

  • Gregory Parker : Spike what about our tipster?

Mike Scarlatti : Well all I can say at this point is that he's good Boss. To infiltrate our internal servers, not to mention remotely hijacking our CCTV system, that's big league.

Gregory Parker : Does that mean our comm is compromised?

Mike Scarlatti : I don't know. I can tell you he's been in our system for a while.

Gregory Parker : How do you know that?

Mike Scarlatti : Well he had to tunnel through firewall and set up some sort of encrypted back door controls. Takes time.

Jules Callaghan : That goes with the cameras he hijacked too, he would to have cracked them in advance.

Gregory Parker : So this guy's been planning this day for a while.

  • Mike Scarlatti : Boss, I've isolated the Malware that hijacked our vehicle security cameras. Code's author goes by the name 'ROT_2'. Weird part is there's no mention of him in the hacker boards.

Gregory Parker : Is that unusual?

Mike Scarlatti : Well an exploit like this it's pretty elite stuff, seizing control of cameras, overriding activation lights, we're talking the ability to peer into people's homes undetected.

Gregory Parker : So you're saying there's an appetite for this technology.

Mike Scarlatti : I'm saying in the hacker world this guy could be a rock star. But there's no mention of him or his code and nobody's ever heard of him.

Gregory Parker : Okay it's not about fame it's not about profit, it's about today. Can you find him Spike?

Mike Scarlatti : I might be able to put eyes on him.

    Ed Lane : How Spike?

Mike Scarlatti : Because I'm gonna turn his own script against him.

  • Jules Callaghan : Did you say his handle is 'ROT_2'?

    Mike Scarlatti : Yeah. Why?

Jules Callaghan : Well she's taking a design class, the folder's right here on her laptop. Lessons online with a tutor.

Mike Scarlatti : Well that's nice.

    Jules Callaghan : Tutor.

    Mike Scarlatti : Tutor?

    Jules Callaghan : Backwards.

    Mike Scarlatti : ROT_2, ROT_2, tutor backwards, ROT_2. You're brilliant, that's brilliant.

  • Mike Scarlatti : [Over intercom]  Ed the intake manifold runs long the top of the block about three feet back from the grill.

Ed Lane : Okay Spike we got it.

Gregory Parker : We're in position.

Mike Scarlatti : For a clean shot, you're gonna want to hit it three inches off center.

Ed Lane : Left or right?

Mike Scarlatti : Hard to say without knowing if the engine's stock. You're just gonna have to find it. But the main thing is, you aim low you could hit the radiator and that thing could rumble on for miles.

Sam Braddock : If you miss high you could deflect off the hood and hit the driver.

Mike Scarlatti : And we got a runaway bomb.

  • Mike Scarlatti : [From scene of roadblock]  Boss, that truck was not gonna stop.

Winnie Camden : [over intercom]  Truck's continuing along 33.

Sam Braddock : We can intercept at Dixie road.

Gregory Parker : Then what? We've got an awfully determined subject here.

Ed Lane : We could stop it with a .50 cal steel core round.

Sam Braddock : Hit the intake manifold, engine stops dead.

Mike Scarlatti : Ed that's ten square inches traveling eighty miles an hour hidden under a hood.

Ed Lane : Boss we can't wait this out here. That truck gets into a populated area it's gonna go from bad to worse.

Gregory Parker : Okay set it up Eddy.
