Good acting saved this movie

This is the so far only movie written and directed by Tamer Jandali and this half hour tells us about the life of a chimney sweep. But it's not just any chimney sweep. Actually, he uses his profession to check for people's valuables and at one point he even takes a woman's underwear. A bit on the pervert side. The film's biggest weakness is probably the script. Jandali tried to be so inventive and artistic, but it really backfires as he does not (yet?) have the talent to deliver accordingly. The scenes with the dancing group of chimney sweeps who also take the main character hostage at one point are truly bad and hurt the overall image a lot. They were probably intended to make the whole thing more spooky and atmospheric, but it did not work out at all. In contrast to that, the acting in here is decent. Zint carries the film nicely and everybody else does a decent job too, including Peer Jäger who plays the main character's father. Pretty much all the actors in here are fairly experienced already and it shows. The cast is the only reason to watch this as it's obvious they are skilled in their art. However, I have to say the only one I knew by name in here was Martina Eitner-Acheampong because of her work on "Stromberg". But her role is just tiny in here. Solid short movie as a whole and I recommend it. I just hope the guy who made it can step up his writing in the coming years if he ever makes another movie.
