Carl Weathers is dead at the age of 76. It’s shocking to consider, even though his best-known character, Apollo Creed, in some ways was ultimately defined by his death in 1985’s “Rocky IV.” The franchise went on without him, and ultimately followed his son played by Michael B. Jordan. But for the next 38 years, there was the fact that Weathers was in reality alive, well, in astonishingly great shape, and underutilized.
Now, Weathers has died himself. And given that he was one of Hollywood’s most prominent musclemen of the late ’70s and ’80s, an era defined by fitness-obsessed actors who either were athletes or aspired to be them, 76 feels startlingly young. Especially given how vital and active he was up until the very end, even directing a couple episodes of “The Mandalorian” so good that one wishes he could have, for the sake of that show’s quality, directed more.

What would spooky season be without the Sanderson Sisters? Thanks to Freeform, we’ll never have to find out.
The cable network’s annual 31 Nights of Halloween lineup features 18 showings of Hocus Pocus, the beloved 1993 film starring Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy — and while that may seem like a lot, keep in mind that Freeform aired the Walt Disney flick a whopping 30 (!) times in 2019. For some reason, the confusion around “Lightyear,” Pixar’s new sci-fi adventure, remains. And Tim Allen, who voiced the toy version of Buzz Lightyear in four “Toy Story” features and several spin-offs and specials, has finally weighed in. (Chris Evans voices the new film’s iteration of the character.)
“The short answer is I’ve stayed out of this because it has nothing to do [with my character]. This is a whole new team that really had nothing to do with the first movies,” Allen told Extra.

CBS was Thursday’s most watched network, getting a break when Fox and the NFL Network were saddled with losing teams the Denver Broncos and Arizona Cardinals and a lopsided game that plunged 38% in ratings week over week.
The Big Bang Theory was the night’s most watched program, beating the NFL. Still, Bbt matched its series-low demo in the early stats.
CBS’ Young Sheldon was most watched at 8:30 Pm; even Mom beat football in its time slot.
Murphy Brown retained 96% of previous week’s audience, though it did not top NFL, and hit a new low 69% retention of its Mom lead-in. At 10 Pm, CBS’ S.W.A.T. grew compared with the previous week.

Happy Saturday, "Grey's Anatomy" fans. We've got a bit of bad news for you guys in this article. It turns out that ABC is already pumping the breaks on new episodes Of Grey's Anatomy as the show will encounter it's first break of the brand new season 15 this upcoming Thursday night, October 18,2018. That's right guys. Your favorite show will not be airing its brand new episode 5 until Thursday night, October 25, 2018 in the same 7 pm central time slot. So, be sure to jot that very important date down on your TV show calendars. So, why is ABC not airing a new Grey's Anatomy episode this upcoming Thursday? We're not totally sure why. We have a few guesses but nothing official. We think ABC pre-plans these delays in advance based on the time they have to get through all of the 24 episodes of Grey's Anatomy season 15 that they ordered. They're probably a...

This article contains spoilers for Toy Story 3.
In August 2010, a couple of months after Toy Story 3 was released in Us cinemas, the chair of the MPAA Classification and Ratings Administration admitted that they might have made a mistake in giving the film a G rating.
Speaking on industry podcast The Business, Joan Graves said that based on feedback they had received from parents since the film's release, Toy Story 3 should have been given a PG rating “at least”, because of a climactic scene in which Woody, Buzz and friends find themselves sinking into an incinerator like rubbish. Graves went on to say that the film changed their approach to animated family films, and that they would no longer give these movies “the benefit of the doubt” in...

ABC Family has announced the full lineup for its annual "13 Nights of Halloween" celebration, and its offerings of both kid- and adult-friendly fare signify that it's already beginning its transition into its upcoming rebranded network, Freeform.
The schedule includes perennial favorites like "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows -- Part 1," "Hocus Pocus," and "The Addams Family," which appeal to tweens and teens alike, along with flicks to attract a younger crowd, including "Frankenweenie," "Monsters University," and "Toy Story Of Terror!"
But the more-adult movies -- aimed at that so-called "becomer" demographic of viewers in their late 20s and early 30s -- begin late at night, and wouldn't have been caught dead on ABC Family's schedule before. These new flicks -- including Johnny Depp's "Sleepy Hollow," "I Know What You Did Last Summer," and the original "Poltergeist" -- clearly signify the shift to Freeform, and should hopefully attract the audience that the network craves.

Whether you like it or not, Toy Story 4 is definitely happening.
Toy Story 3 was released in 2010 to critical claim, huge box-office success (it became the first animated feature to gross over $1bn) and, most importantly, seemed to tie an extremely neat bow on the franchise, giving what many fans thought was the perfect ending to the incredible trilogy that had played out over the past 15 years.
The characters have been brought back since then, in two television specials – Toy Story of Terror! and Toy Story That Time Forgot – as well as three shorts: Hawaiian Vacation, Small Fry, and Partysaurus Rex. Generally these have been met with praise, although the larger movie audience – the one that forked out all of those dollars on seeing the films – have stayed more or less ignorant of them, and they are fairly easy to forget about.

Now, though, they’re coming back to the big screen,...

We.re still rejoicing over the latest developments for Toy Story 4, as, over the weekend, we were informed that the hugely anticipated Pixar sequel will revolve around Woody.s pursuit to find Bo-Peep. But since the Toy Story franchise is packed to the brim with characters that each of us adore with all of our hearts, we're also waiting to know which other figures will return. It.s now been confirmed that one character who will indeed return alongside Woody and Bo-Beep is Trixe. Kristen Schaal, who has voiced the blue plastic Triceratops in the likes of Toy Story 3, the trilogy of Toy Story Toons shorts, Toy Story Of Terror!, and Toy Story That Time Forgot, made this admission to me while we chatted about her upcoming turn as Mary Ellen in A Walk In The Woods. After I quizzed her about any further updates regarding Toy Story 4,...

Disney's big D23 Expo is underway and last night the House of Mouse started things off with a look at the upcoming films on their animation slate. This included new looks and information on Finding Dory, Toy Story 4, Moana, and a few more. Come inside to check it all out in one spot.
We already reported on one of the new animated films that was announced last night, Gigantic, but there was so much more Disney had in store for attendees at D23. While the majority of information came from previously annnounced films, there was another new animation project revealed in the form of Coco:
“Coco” – Director Lee Unkrich (“Toy Story 3”) and producer Darla K. Anderson (“Toy Story 3”) revealed the title of their upcoming film today at D23 Expo 2015. Disney·Pixar’s “Coco” is the celebration of a lifetime, where the discovery of a generations-old mystery leads...

With both Andrew Stanton (Finding Nemo) and Angus McClane (Toy Story of Terror) at the helm, Pixar will again be venturing under the sea next year for Finding Dory, which sees Helen DeGeneres return as everyone’s favourite, forgetful Pacific Regal Blue Tang as she sets out on a journey to find out where she came from. The D23 expo currently taking place in Anaheim has our first image from Pixar’s upcoming sequel, giving us a look at Dory and new character Hank, a cantankerous octopus voiced by Modern Family and Married with Children’s Ed O’Neil. Perfect casting, really. Joining DeGeneres and O’Neil on voice duties are Diane Keaton and Eugene Levy as Dory’s parents Jenny and Charlie, and Always Sunny in Philadelphia’s Kaitlin Olson as Destiny, a whale shark who thinks she’s a whale. On top of the new characters, Marlin and...

Director Paul Feig — he of Bridesmaids and The Heat fame — ain’t afraid of 1) No ghosts, and 2) Casting lesser-known actresses to front his divisive Ghostbusters reboot, as proven by his choice of Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones to star alongside Feig regulars Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Wiig.
Anyone see that coming? (We didn’t.)
Which isn’t to say we aren’t excited about this cast. Quite the opposite: If you’re a Saturday Night Live fan, you already know Kate McKinnon is one of the funniest, smartest actresses working these days. And Leslie Jones steals just about every scene she’s in. If you’re not an SNL fan, here’s a quick cheat sheet to get you up to speed.

Two films forgotten by the Academy, the animated adventure "The Lego Movie" and the Roger Ebert Documentary "Life Itself," triumphed at the recently concluded 2015 Producers Guild Awards.
"The Lego Movie" took home the Award for Outstanding Producer of Animated Theatrical Motion Pictures for producer Dan Lin while "Life Itself" won the Award for Outstanding Producer of Documentary Theatrical Motion Pictures for producers Garrett Basch, Steve James, and Zak Piper.
Meanwhile, Alejandro G. Iñárritu, John Lesher, and James W. Skotchdopole took the Oscar glitter away from Richard Linklater's "Boyhood" when "Birdman" was awarded the Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures.

Can the post-Toy Story 3 shorts tell us anything about the upcoming direction of Pixar's Toy Story 4?
This article contains spoilers for Toy Story 3.
It seems to have become surprisingly tough to keep an open mind about Toy Story 4. Pixar have a mostly excellent track record in these things, especially when it comes to the Toy Story series. We struggle to think of a more consistently brilliant trilogy of films, so why were so many upset about the very real possibility of a fourth, also brilliant instalment, when it was announced last year?
Although some would cite the Cars films, or the impossible and yet still disappointing expectation that Monsters University would live up to Monsters Inc, it doesn't come down to anything so jaded. In all of the ways that Toy Story 3 is an excellent film, it's mostly because it feels like a near unimprovable conclusion to the series.

Movies made by women directors were snubbed by the Producers Guild of America when they announced the nominees today! Both "Selma" by Ava DuVernay and "Unbroken" by Angelina Jolie were left in the dust. I agree with not nominating the latter movie (sorry Ms. Jolie but "Unbroken" is too earnest for my taste) but "Selma" deserved a nod! It's a profound movie aided by DuVernay's skilled directing and David Oyelowo's fine performance as Martin Luther King Jr.
You know who I'm blaming for this? Paramount! The studio did not send screeners to Academy voters. Heck, they did not sent one to us, the Broadcast Film Critics Association. But after begging, they did send a link so I could watch "Selma" in time for our Critics' Choice Movie Award nominations.
"Selma" is a "late to the party" entry that is gaining momentum dashed by the PGA! If you remember, Clint Eastwood...

The Producers Guild of America (PGA) added to the industry mix Monday morning with a list of 10 nominees to keep the awards season grist mill churning. "Gone Girl" popped up again, and it shouldn't be a surprise. It's one of the year's biggest hits. And speaking of hits, I had a hunch "Nightcrawler" would find a place after becoming such a well-liked, profitable success. There it sits. The question for both of these films is whether this on-going industry/guild love ends up translating to Oscar recognition. After the "Dragon Tattoo" rush a few years ago, I'm pretty much wait-and-see on stuff like this. Absent from the list was anything out of the Marvel Studios comic book factory, notable as both "Guardians of the Galaxy" and "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" were both on the top tier of box office earners in 2014. The former currently maintains the throne, though it...

The Producers Guild of America (PGA) have announced their film and television nominations for the 26th Annual Producers Guild Awards, with winners set to be announced on January 24 and they couldn't have come at a better time... for me at least. I have been spending the last couple of days working on my 2015 Oscar predictions, finally adding predictions for the categories I had not yet set live and putting final touches on those I've had live since March of last year. The Oscar nomination ballots close this coming Thursday, January 8 and you better believe I'm looking at this list to get a better idea of what the industry is thinking. Overall, there aren't any real surprises, though one film continues to make a strong big for a nomination, that being Dan Gilroy's Nightcrawler, which has continued to perform well in the precursor nominations. We also see a nomination for...

Disney has set the Pixar Animation sequel Finding Dory for release on June 17th, 2016, which is still over a year and a half away. However, since this is an animated film we're talking about, a lot of the details on the film are already firm since it takes so long for the film to be completed. We know that because over a year ago, Pixar was already working on a new ending for the sequel to Finding Nemo due to the backlash against SeaWorld following the damning details revealed in the documentary Blackfish. Other than that details on the film that is being co-directed by Pixar veterans Andrew Stanton and Angus MacLane ("Toy Story of Terror") have been relatively scarce, but some new tidbits have surfaced today. More below! We already knew that the story was going to follow Dory (Ellen DeGeneres) and Marlin (Albert Brooks) on a journey to...

When Disney announced last month that John Lasseter would direct a fourth "Toy Story" film, there was inevitable fan concern: But "Toy Story 3" ended so perfectly! Why do we need any more? But Pixar has always done right by its signature franchise, never pushing Woody, Buzz and the gang past a point of diminishing returns. There was plenty of trepidation about "Toy Story 2" and "Toy Story 3," and both times the consensus was that the new film was better than the last. And though the toys' tale could have easily ended with Andy saying goodbye to Woody (while the adults in the audience turned into weeping wrecks), the saga has continued with a handful of "Toy Story Toons" shorts, plus last year's "Toy Story of Terror!" Halloween special, all of them depicting the toys' lives with Bonnie, and they've all been charming, funny and very much worthy, if brief,...

Paired with its documentary feature nominations, the PGA announced this Monday morning which television shows, specials, and digital series that will compete in the 26th Annual Producers Guild Awards. The PGA Awards nominations honor a little bit of everything, including "Breaking Bad," "Cosmos," "Last Week with John Oliver," "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles," and the third season of YouTube’s "Video Game High School." Can’t blame the guild for shallow picks. The PGA Awards major TV category, Outstanding Producer of Episodic Television, went to the award-devouring programs we know and love. "Game of Thrones," "Breaking Bad," "House of Cards," "True Detective," and "Downton Abbey," will all compete for top honors. On the comedy side, the PGA honored the entire spectrum of laughs: The genre-bending "Louie" and "Orange Is the New Black" facing off against sitcom staples "Modern Family" and "The Big Bang Theory," with "Veep" making fun of them all...

Pixar Animation Studios and Walt Disney Pictures have set a June 16th 2017 release date for a fourth film in the "Toy Story" franchise. Walt Disney Co. chief Bob Iger made the announcement to Wall Street analysts as he discussed the company's fourth quarter and fiscal year results on Thursday.
Pixar Cco and original "Toy Story" director John Lasseter is set to return to the helm, while Tom Hanks and Tim Allen will reprise their roles as Woody and Buzz Lightyear. Most surprising (and welcome) is that "Celeste and Jesse Forever" scribes Rashida Jones and Will McCormack are onboard as writers on the project.
Also onboard is Galyn Susman ("Toy Story of Terror," "Toy Story that Time Forgot") as producer in a film that is being described as more of a love story than the previous outings. In an official statement, Lasseter says:
"We love these characters so much; they are like family to us.

Nearly two decades after Pixar Animation Studios created the world’s first computer-animated feature film with “Toy Story,” it revealed plans for Disney•Pixar’s Toy Story 4, an adventure that returns audiences to the world of the studio’s signature characters.
John Lasseter, director of the original “Toy Story” and “Toy Story 2,” will direct the film, which opens a new chapter in the lives of Woody, Buzz Lightyear and the “Toy Story” gang.
The story was dreamt up by Lasseter, Andrew Stanton, Pete Docter and Lee Unkrich, the storytellers who have been the driving force behind all three “Toy Story” films.

If you haven't learned by now, franchises are never really dead in Hollywood. They get remade, rebooted, spunoff, or reimagined, and for a series as lucrative as "Toy Story," it was only a matter of time before another movie was in the works. A year after the "final" movie, "Toy Story 3," hit, Tom Hanks revealed another movie is on the way. And while Pixar has focused on "Toy Story" shorts ever since ("Hawaiian Vacation," "Small Fry," "Partysaurus Rex") and a pair of holiday specials (2013's "Toy Story of Terror" and next month's "Toy Story That Time Forgot")... surprise, surprise a full sequel is coming. During their earnings call with investors this afternoon, Disney CEO Bob Iger announced "Toy Story 4" will arrive on June 16th, 2017.
