The screenplay is adapted from a scene of Malhação (1995), TV series produced by Rede Globo (Brazil), the 2nd major TV broadcaster in the world. Three months after the release of My Family (2009), Gustavo Goulart was invited for a role in Malhação (1995).
My Family (2009) was produced and distributed with zero budget. However, the movie has won several international awards.
