Colcoa is keeping up with the times. Now in its twenty-first year, the lauded French film festival, sponsored by the Franco-American Cultural Fund, has added a pair of forward-thinking new categories for its newest edition. This year will include a virtual reality program and a web series competition, in addition to its Cinema, Television and Shorts competitions.
“These two new popular formats offer more opportunities to showcase the creativity of French producers and filmmakers as well as the diversity of French production,” said François Truffart, Colcoa Executive Producer and Artistic Director. “While entertainment is still the key word for the program, with a balanced mix of comedies and dramas, several topical issues will cover the program this year, including the environment, discrimination, racism, terrorism, and the role of the artist in society. More than ever, Colcoa will offer a unique opportunity to see these universal topics from different angles.”

Thousands of women auditioned for the role of angsty teen Nadine Byrd in Kelly Fremon Craig’s “The Edge of Seventeen,” but none of them fit the part. Fremon Craig’s directorial debut had a lot going for it: a lively screenplay in tune with the John Hughes movies that inspired it, and legendary comedy guru James L. Brooks as a producer. However, without a young woman able to convey Nadine’s frustrations with the world, its tricky comedy-drama balance would fall apart.
“The part is hard,” Brooks said. “We needed to have someone who could make it seem true and natural, and nobody could nail it.”
Fremon Craig was growing despondent. “We’re never going to make this,” she recalled thinking at the time.

The kids from Stranger Things have made quite an impression and they are officially the coolest kids in the world. Their lives have been turned upside down (pun intended) since the release of the Netflix series Stranger Things. I bet none of them knew how big of a hit this series was going to be.
Since the series was released, these kids have been popping up online everywhere. They were a hit at the Emmy Awards, which took place earlier this week, and now we have a couple new things to share with you.
Below you'll find a video from AMC's Geeking Out featuring Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin) and Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas) showing off their secret handshake and apparently their own secret language. Below that, you'll find a few adorably fun photos from the set of the first season of Stranger Things.
Lots of good stuff to see here for fans of the series!

Star Wars Tales is a quarterly anthology series published by Dark Horse from 1999 to 2005. Each issue was 64 pages long and contained a variety of stories, in both number, length, content, and tone. Most stories were considered non-canonical “Infinities” stories unless canonized elsewhere (though of course, now all such stories are deemed non-canonical “legends”). In the course of its six year run, Star Wars Tales featured stories from dozens of different creators, covering numerous facets of the Star Wars universe, from serious, thoughtful tales to comedic ones to straight-up fan-demanded “what if?” type stories. Here are ten of the best, entertaining in their own right but also representative of the breadth of content available in this series (all of which are currently available to subscribers of Marvel Unlimited, and were earlier collected into six trade collections that can probably still be found on Amazon and the like).
