As the Undertaker announces his retirement, we look back at his Wrestlemania record...
This article is from Den Of Geek Us.
WrestleMania XXX was an eventful show. It calmed the fears of those afraid that it would crash the WWE Network and cause major damage to the company's latest venture. Cesaro broke away from his tag team and broke out by winning the Andre the Giant Memorial Trophy. Hulk Hogan, Steve Austin, and the Rock hung out in the ring and had a blast. Mr. T and Roddy Piper buried the hatchet. Daniel Bryan went through an endless supply of punishment before being defeating Triple H, Randy Orton, and Batista.
That was a big moment and a major story, but the thing people will be talking about for a long time is the end of Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar. For the first time ever, Undertaker lost at...

WrestleMania returning to the New York City area was a dream come true for me, since it combined my favourite annual wrestling event with the city I love the most.
Early reports confirmed that The Rock would return for another match and this would also be Brock Lesnar’s first ‘Mania back since 2004 when the event was last held in the NY area. I was sold and promptly booked my flights.
After telling Billy Gunn to F**ck off and running up a $400 bar tab on someone else’s credit card, my friend John decided not to come back to WrestleMania. So, me and my other, more responsible buddies set off to the Big Apple for a week of wrestling festivities culminating at MetLife Stadium for what we hoped would be a great show.
In 2013, I decided to steer clear of the convention scene and enjoy a little more of New York.

After nine years away, WrestleMania returned to its birthplace and the site of some of its most legendary moments – the New York City area.
Though it wasn’t Madison Square Garden (the home of WrestleManias I, X, and Xx) East Rutherford, NJ’s MetLife Stadium, just west of lower Manhattan, was a perfect place to host one of the most anticipated rematches in WWE history – The Rock versus John Cena, part two.
The bout was a follow-up to the previous year’s show and huge “Once in a Lifetime” main event. At WrestleMania 28, The Rock pinned John Cena in front of his hometown Miami crowd and appeared to have won their intergenerational feud. When John Cena won the 2013 Royal Rumble match and The Rock captured the WWE Championship at the same event, the stage was set for their second showdown.

Every year, WWE runs a tour of the UK and other European markets just after WrestleMania. While this year’s edition had promised to be big with the announcement that Daniel Bryan would be appearing at April 19’s Smackdown! tapings in London, it just got even grander – The Undertaker will also be a part of the tour.
WWE runs two separate house show schedules with two separate rosters, and in order to give both sets of shows a shot of star power, Bryan will be on one and The Undertaker will be on the other. According to the Wrestling Observer, The Undertaker will be in action, though no opponents have been announced yet. This puts to rest any lingering speculation that the legend will be hanging up his hat after WrestleMania 32.
The Undertaker appeared on Raw in London prior to last year’s Survivor Series, but wasn’t in action.

WrestleMania can be good, it can be bad, it can be anything it wants to be so long as its not boring. The last thing a fan wants is to wait weeks and months for WWE’s biggest extravaganza, only to be sorely disappointed by how utterly predictable the results end up being.
There have been some truly predictable WrestleManias, such as WrestleMania 29, in which Mark Henry was put over Ryback in the second match just to try and stun oddsmakers, as every other match had a non-negotiable conclusion. Other times, WrestleMania has thrown a wrench into the works of notable matches with the intent of surprising even its most jaded viewers. Oftentimes, this strategy works to a fault.
With these sorts of risky decisions, you run the risk of upsetting the audience. In some cases, the shocking finishes were virulently protested by fans that tuned in the following night anyway.

One of my favorite things about WrestleMania season is watching as the branding and marketing for the event begins to unfold. Each WrestleMania has its own unique look and feel and WWE is careful to cultivate this in everything from the TV spots and commercials to the set up of the stadium itself.
Who can ever forget the Roman Empire imagery of WrestleMania IX at Caesar’s Palace, or the skylines and New York icons represented by WrestleMania 29? Last year in San Jose, WrestleMania took on an ‘interactive’/technology theme, whereas this year in Dallas, TX, WWE has gone the obvious route and given Mania a Texas flavor.
When we look back through history at the previous thirty two WrestleManias, perhaps nothing serves as a better time capsule than the even poster for each respective event. From the over the top imagery of the ’80s, to the...

The answer is: Four – Charlotte, Paige, Natalya, and Alicia Fox
The question: Out of 17 different women that have been WWE Divas Champion (a belt that was first activated in July 2008), how many of those 17 women are with WWE today, and have never left the company at any point?
With Brie Bella likely on her way out the door to begin family life with husband Daniel Bryan, and sister Nikki staring possible retirement in the face due to a neck injury, you’d think they’d account for the twelfth and thirteenth women on the list of those former champions that walked, but the truth is, they already qualified: the Bella Twins left WWE in the spring of 2012, and were gone for nearly a year, returning shortly before WrestleMania 29. More on that in the list.

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson shockingly returned to WWE in 2011 in order to work a two-year program with top star, John Cena. Before Rock made his comeback, the main event of that year’s WrestleMania was scheduled to be John Cena against The Miz for the WWE Championship.
That match didn’t feel like a main event, so when The Rock made his monumental return on the February 14th Raw to reveal himself as the Guest Host of WrestleMania, it became clear that WWE had a plan to still make WrestleMania feel like an epic show.
Over the next few weeks, Rock and Cena would trade insults and even trade finishers, culminating in an-in ring confrontation where they set up a match for the next year’s WrestleMania in Miami, Florida. It was the first time WWE had announced a Mania main event 365 days before the show.

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson was the number one international box office star of 2015. He shared the news on his Instagram, stating “Thank You. World’S #1 International Box Office Star. I was blessed with this title in 2013 and now again in 2015. $1.48billion is a lot of revenue to generate in our business in only one year.”
His films this past year were Furious 7 and San Andreas, both of which did very well at the box office.
The $1.48 billion figure Rock mentions, that’s exactly why he’s reluctant to make a return to the wrestling ring. He’s set to appear at WWE’s WrestleMania 32 on April 3rd, but isn’t thought to be competing on the show. Industry expert Dave Meltzer believes it is an insurance issue.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson recently confirmed that he’ll be at WWE WrestleMania 32, but Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has stated “the impression we have right now is Rock is not cleared to wrestle on the show for the same insurance reason we reported on months ago.”
That’s bad new for WWE fans. Sure, a returning Rock is always entertaining, he certainly lit up the last two Mania shows with sensational mic segments. But for WrestleMania 32, there had been a long held expectation that he’d be wrestling. Any other role he takes at the show is going to disappoint.
It could also be considered misleading that both Rock and WWE have been hyping his appearance as if he could be wrestling.

50/50 booking. It’s the term for WWE’s booking style in which talents win as often as they lose; winning 50% of the time, losing 50% of the time. The strategy is among the most foolish ways to present talents as it prevents them from getting over, and more often than not, does credible, long-term damage to the talents that are booked in this manner.
In show-business, being special is what draws money, not being average. Mike Tyson, Ronda Rousey, and Muhammad Ali are just a few examples of some of the biggest individual attractions in the history of combat sports. They were special. Professional sports clubs like the New York Yankees, Manchester United, and the New England Patriots are among the most popular teams on the planet because they win more than they lose.

Vince McMahon is the creative genius behind Wrestlemania. However, regarding other things that Vince is the “creative genius” behind, that’s actually an incredibly small number of things for which he is deemed almost solely responsible. Yes, outside of wrestling there’s things like the Xfl that get bandied about as key McMahon mistakes. However, when it comes to WWE, outside of Wrestlemania, Vince has absolutely had more epic moments of complete failure than successes.
In the current era, much ado is made over Vince being “an out-of-touch 70 year-old man.” However, when Vince was a 50 year-old man and 60-year old man he was as much (or even more) out of touch than he is now, with a series of creative decisions made exclusively by him that leave much to be desired in terms of actual success.

Entered into the WWE Hall Of Fame the night before WrestleMania 29 in 2013, Booker T has been involved in the pro wrestling industry since 1989. The man was one of the bigger stars to cross over to the then-wwf once Vince McMahon bought over World Championship Wrestling in 2001, and went on to become a multi-time World Champion in the promotion.
Fans in WCW had been crying out for years to see Booker elevated to the main event scene, and they finally got their wish in the year 2000. At Bash At The Beach, the fan favourite captured the WCW World Title during a match with Jeff Jarrett. It was the culmination of over a decade of effort from the wrestler, who had previously been viewed as more of a tag-team specialist.

According to CrossingBroad.com, the city of Philadelphia has submitted a bit to host WrestleMania 34 in 2018. The story cites a WWE source that confirmed the bid, which is described as a “strong bid” to host.
If Philadelphia wins the bidding then Lincoln Financial Field where the NFL’s Eagles play would be the site of the event and would fit about 70,000 people or more depending on the setup. They would also host Nxt and Raw events that would be held at Wells Fargo Center while WWE Axxess would take place at the Convention Center.

The Undertaker retiring at WWE WrestleMania 32 has been an open secret for some time now. Industry insiders have been tipping the April 3rd event to be his last ever match, based upon the fact it being in Texas and it most likely setting WWE’s record attendance.
What better way to go out, right? Undertaker would be in his home state, surrounded by 100,000 adoring WWE fans.
There was also the hot rumour that he’d go into the WWE Hall Of Fame on the night before, giving him a truly epic send off over an Undertaker themed weekend.
It made sense, he will after all be fifty-one at the time of next year’s Mania. That’s old for a pro wrestler, especially one so physically worn. He’s been described as “chronically injured” in recent years, only barely passing the WWE physical test for WrestleMania 29.

Paul Heyman revealed on Chael Sonnen’s “You’re Welcome” podcast that he actually pitched for Cm Punk to beat The Undertaker’s undefeated WrestleMania streak at WrestleMania 29 in 2013. Heyman said he felt that if that happened it would have possibly led to Punk staying in WWE longer.
Here’s how Heyman explained it: “I actually pitched it for Punk because I thought it was the only thing that was going to keep Punk from eventually leaving WWE. Even before that match, he was itching to get out.”
Punk ended up losing the match clean to Undertaker in what was a fantastic matchup with Punk in the heel role and coming very close to winning. Punk ended up sitting out for a few months, then returning as a face and feuding with Heyman shortly after that.

WWE set the all time gate record for pro wrestling at WrestleMania 31. The show grossed $12.6 million, reports f4Wonline, which breaks the $12.3 million set two years ago at WrestleMania 29 in New Jersey.
The commercial success of this year’s show is proof that creative problems and fan criticism didn’t hurt interest in the event. WWE Network subscriptions are also expected to be way up.
The attendance for the show was 76,976 and they paid to see what the critics are calling one of the best WrestleMania shows of all time. Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer said “This was one of the best shows I’ve ever seen” and put it in the same bracket as WWE’s WrestleMania 17.
Given the critical and commercial success of WrestleMania 31, the WWE have to be very happy with their efforts this year. They turned around what was a weak build going into the show.

The main event of WrestleMania is, in theory, a place for the hottest stars in the business to collide in front of a huge audience. Most of the biggest names in wrestling history have headlined at least one ‘Mania, with many racking up several appearances over the years. Despite this, there are some names out there who you’ll be shocked to learn have never enjoyed the biggest spotlight of the year – some of the most influential and memorable figures in the industry.
The debate over the main event of ‘Mania has never raged as fiercely as now, partly due to the perceived injustice of Daniel Bryan’s relegation to the midcard (after absolutely setting the show alight last year) while the seemingly handpicked Roman Reigns has been shoehorned in at the top.

It’s been said that professional wrestling is the ultimate form of entertainment, a statement anyone who even passively watches the medium will agree with. Marrying live theatre, rock music, pantomime sport and combat, wrestling paints a pretty darn vivid picture for the viewer, often taking people on an incredibly emotional rollercoaster of a ride.
Pretty much everyone who doesn’t live underneath a rock knows that wrestling is pre-determined, but therein lies part of the overall appeal of it all – by suspending disbelief in what’s going on, millions around the globe are transfixed, entertained beyond belief by what they’re watching.
For that very reason, wrestling fans tend to take things very seriously. Generally speaking, when things don’t play out quite how people wanted them to, hissy fits are thrown, and toys are chucked from the proverbial pram! This can be because...

The booking of Daniel Bryan during Sunday’s Royal Rumble match left a lot of fans upset. He entered the match at #10 and was gone in about ten minutes. He should have been in there longer. He should have won the thing if you simply want to listen to the crowd reaction. Instead, he was eliminated and we were left to wonder what’s next for Bryan.
Another man eliminated in the match too early was Dolph Ziggler. He’s been frustrated with things in WWE and so have his fans. On Monday night after the Rumble, Ziggler did a tweet (@HeelZiggler) to express his feelings: “Yo Db, was pulling for you, brother. but if you really want to steal the show #Wrestlemania Im here & angrier #Raw” About two hours later, Daniel Bryan did a tweet (@WWEDanielBryan) simply saying “I’m in” and left it that.

Just as The Miz is wont to say on occasion…”Really?” Yes, it’s now heavily rumored that World Wrestling Entertainment is going to seriously put Daniel Bryan in the ring with Sheamus at Wrestlemania 31.
This is the guy who is the leader of the “Yes!” Movement, the guy who beat All Of Evolution In The Same Night, and the company’s number one babyface versus that guy who most recently lost the United States Championship to Rusev clean in the middle of the ring. Sound absurd? Of course it does.
But, WWE may have their reasons for putting this match together. Sheamus has an easy out for a heel turn in that since Brogue Kicking Daniel Bryan at Wrestlemania 29 and winning the World Heavyweight Championship, Sheamus’ career has stalled while Daniel Bryan has had meteoric success. However, Sheamus as a heel has never really been mean and vindictive,...

The internet wrestling community is buzzing because The Rock posted a photo late on Saturday night on Instagram and Twitter saying he was in Philadelphia.
What’s the significance of that?
The 2015 Royal Rumble takes place in Philadelphia. The Rock’s message is as follows: “In town and always gotta stop by the neighborhood… #SouthPhilly”
In addition to that, a report from PWInsider.com notes that The Rock ” was seen at the WWE worker hotel this evening”, meaning Saturday. In other words, he’s there for the Royal Rumble and was likely brought in by WWE for whatever plan they have for him.
What could that plan be? It’s probably that much talked about match with Brock Lesnar that has been rumored for a few years now.

WWE’s confirmation of WrestleMania 32 in Dallas, Texas was long expected. The event will take place at the At&T Stadium, also known as Cowboys Stadium on April 3rd 2016. The potential capacity is estimated at around 105,000.
It has been a long held goal of Vince McMahon to break the WWE attendance record which was established at WrestleMania 3. While the 93,173 attendance may have been exaggerated, McMahon maintains that the Pontiac Silverdome was his record crowd. The truth is, the WrestleMania 29 crowd was the record, with 80,676 attending the New Jersey show.
Whatever you believe, you can be pretty sure that the event at Cowboys Stadium will top both Mania 3 and Mania 29. At the minimum, WWE will set the show up for 70,000 but the maximum capacity with the floor seating will be in excess of 100,000. When you consider there are some Major names being rumoured for returns at the show, you...

WrestleMania 32 will be held at the Cowboys Stadium (At & T Stadium) in Dallas, Texas. WWE confirmed the news after Monday’s Raw from Dallas. The company also revealed the date for the show as Sunday April 3rd 2016. A press conference with Vince McMahon, John Cena and Hulk Hogan is scheduled for later on Tuesday.
This news was long expected and it will have major implications for the WWE and WWE fans. The big talking point is the attendance capability, which hosts 80,000 fans for football games and is expandable to 105,000 when the pitch is converted to standing room. The likelihood is that WWE will use WrestleMania 32 to establish a new attendance record of 100,000 WWE fans.
If demand is less than 100,000, the WWE could save face by setting up for as little as 70,000. However, the global appeal of WrestleMania will surely fill the full capacity. The company record attendance is currently 80,676 from WrestleMania 29.

When a champion loses a title in WWE, they automatically get a rematch for the title they lost. It’s something that WWE has been doing for many years and fans have gotten used to it. Sometimes the former champions invoke their rematch clause the next night. A lot of the time it happens at the next PPV. Everybody is different and every situation has their own unique twist on the stipulation. This week on Raw, Dolph Ziggler challenged The Miz for the Intercontinental Title and he won back the coveted title he lost one night earlier.
Their SummerSlam match wasn’t that great, but the match on Raw was very good. For one thing, they got more time on Raw. We also didn’t have to hear the Florida Georgia Line country music band on commentary like they were on Raw. They were a major distraction that did more harm than good.

It’s been speculated for some time that Chris Jericho’s latest run with WWE would be coming to an end at Night of Champions. Jericho has only been back with the company since June of this year and has been embroiled in a feud with Bray Wyatt ever since. Initially, it seemed that their rivalry was set to conclude at the Night of Champions pay-per-view, however, WWE made the decision to feature the feud-ending cage match between the two on this week’s Raw.
The match was the opening bout of the broadcast and was used as an attempt to garner viewers away from the premiere edition of the NFL’s Monday Night Football program. Following the bout — which Bray Wyatt won — Jericho was attacked by Randy Orton, setting up a match between the two for the September 21st PPV.

In an industry full of crazy, colourful characters, there’s no-one crazier or more colourful than Vince McMahon. From his early years as the straight-laced announcer, through to the evil Mr. McMahon, and onto crazy grandad Vince that he is today, McMahon has often proved to be the most larger-than-life figure in an industry built on larger-than-life figures.
Few people realise what a rags-to-riches tale the story of Vince McMahon is. He didn’t meet his father, Vincent J. McMahon until he was twelve years old, and eventually he would join the elder McMahon’s World Wide Wrestling Federation promotion. There was very little nepotism, however, and Vince had to prove himself. He began promoting regionally in Maine and worked in 1971, and it would be another ten years climbing the ladder before he proved to his father he was worthy of inheriting the family company.

SummerSlam is mere days away and all eyes are on the main event billed as “The biggest fight of the Summer.” John Cena defends his WWE World Heavyweight Championship against one of the most talked about wrestlers of 2014, Brock Lesnar. No doubt about it, Brock is a draw. His larger than life presence, his genuine intensity, his extremely physical style and of course, his mouthpiece the absolutely brilliant Paul Heyman, all combine to create a can’t miss Superstar. When Brock Lesnar shows up the world pays attention. And he’s the man that WWE desperately needs.
With underwhelming subscription numbers, the WWE Network has so far been a financial misfire for WWE. Failing to break even on their most ambitious project ever, the WWE has brought in the man guaranteed to put butts in the seats. This Sunday, the man who conquered the Streak looks to conquer the face of the WWE.

Last year’s WWE 2K14 rating system was one of the few problems with the game. You had vastly overrated talent such as Ryback at a 90, compounded by errors with main event wrestling talent in the mid 80 ratings. How did 2K manage to make these glaring mistakes? It was all down to the game’s production dates. When 2K14 was being put together you had Ryback coming off a main even title feud. By the time the game was released, he was struggling to jerk the curtain. The same issue afflicted the game’s underrated wrestlers. This time last year, as 2K put the finishing touches to their game, you had a very different main event title scene. By the time the game was released in late October, the WWE roster had been shuffled significantly.

The reason why Chris Jericho and Bray Wyatt’s present WWE feud can be considered a failure can, intriguingly enough, be traced back to something very familiar to Jericho, rock music. In September 1990, the Billboard pop charts were ruled by “Cherry Pie,” Warrant’s overtly sexual, loud and wild arena rock anthem. By September 1991, the decidedly not-so-sexual and much more morose grunge hit “Smells Like Teen Spirit.” With one song, the mood atop the music industry changed, rendering most hair metal acts as also-rans almost immediately.
The same can be said for why Chris Jericho and Bray Wyatt’s feud is likely to be a failure. On July 19, 2013, Chris Jericho made his last appearance for almost a full calendar year in WWE. At that point, Jericho’s wild persona and hair metal rock star-style charisma worked. He was cool, and did a more-than-admirable job of getting Fandango over at Wrestlemania 29.

When asked if he wanted to have one more match he answered: “Yes, possibly.” As he gave that answer he had a big smile on his face. Maybe the smile means nothing because Rock always smiles, but perhaps there is some plan in place for him to wrestle for WWE again most likely at WrestleMania 31 next March.
At one point the host also asked him what was harder between playing college football, wrestling in WWE or filming a movie like Hercules. The WWE main roster is always changing, some wrestlers leave for whatever reason happens to cause their departure, some wrestlers move up the card because management wants to give them a push and some wrestlers move downwards, or stay still, sometimes merely because the creative team has a lack of ideas for their television character.
The last twelve months have been memorable and a lot has happened to the main WWE roster since June of 2013. So, let’s take a look at the main superstars who are on the main stage of WWE, rate them, and look at how their future in WWE looks at this moment.
The grading system is as follows:
A+ – Is/Should be one of the main faces of WWE. A true star.
A – Should be/Is in the main event scene and has the talent to stay there.
B – Should be being pushed as a future top contender.

One of the most talked about stars in WWE lately is Dolph Ziggler. After cashing in his Money in the Bank contract and winning the World Heavyweight Championship on Raw the night after Wrestlemania 29, Dolph’s credentials in WWE have vastly decreased and left him in the lower mid-card, vying for a spot on Raw and Smackdown every week.
However, Ziggler still gets incredible fan reactions, much like the unbelievably loud cheer he received when cashing in his Money in the Bank contract last year. His shocking fall from grace has caused the fans to get behind him in a big way, not completely unlike the way in which they got behind Daniel Bryan at the start of 2014 and caused the Yes movement to propel him to Championship glory.
Not many superstars can claim to still have such a solid fanbase after falling so quickly and so dramatically down the card.

When Dolph Ziggler won the World Title one night after WrestleMania 29 he received one of the loudest ovations in WWE history. Fans appreciated him for his hard work and cheered for the biggest moment of his career even though he was a heel at the time. His title reign was short due a concussion he suffered and ever since then he hasn’t received much of a push. Fans keep wondering why.
A new report from PWInsider notes that his injury history, particularly with concussions is the big reason why he isn’t being pushed more. The feeling internally is that WWE can’t push Ziggler and trust him as a top guy because he’s injury prone and he’s had a history of taking time off. This applies to a few other talents as well like Christian, who is currently not being used at all.

The Undertaker’s been absent from WWE programming since WrestleMania 30. That’s not a surprise because that’s what has happened the past few years although he did work some more shows after WrestleMania 29 last year. This year’s a different story because of the serious concussion he suffered in his WM30 match against Brock Lesnar.
There was a recent report in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that said he’s still not fully recovered and that people within WWE have no idea if he’ll wrestle again. Now that his undefeated streak at WrestleMania is over (thanks for the reminder, Paul Heyman) they can’t shove “The Streak” down our throats any more.
What WWE will likely do, assuming Undertaker can wrestle again, is make a big deal out of his retirement match. It’s possible that the match could take place in two years at WrestleMania...

For over two decades The Undertaker’s WrestleMania winning streak was a lone constant in an industry in continuous flux. Year after year, WrestleMania after WrestleMania, the WWE fans witnessed one of the greatest professional wrestlers in The Undertaker add to his WrestleMania winning streak and with it chronicle one of the most phenomenal accolades in wrestling history.
Few actually thought that the streak would be broken, with many assuming that its end would naturally coincide with The Undertaker’s inevitable retirement from the squared circle. After all if legends like Shawn Michaels, Ric Flair and Triple H had failed in their attempt at defeating The Undertaker at WrestleMania, what real threat did lesser decorated contenders pose to the survival of the streak? It made sense that Cm Punk would lose to The Undertaker at WrestleMania 29 and, for many, it made even more sense that Brock Lesnar...

One year ago, Fandango was one of the hottest characters in WWE. Everybody remembers the night after WrestleMania 29 when the New Jersey crowd did the Fandango song. It made him a huge name one night after he beat Chris Jericho in his first WrestleMania match. Over the course of the next year, Fandango fizzled to the point that he became just another midcarder.
A positive of the Fandango character was the addition of his valet, Summer Rae. Summer was hired by WWE as a model that they hoped would develop into a wrestler. She really worked hard at it, became a force in Nxt and made it on the main roster as Fandango’s valet. The role was perfect for her.
Over the past week, Summer and Fandango broke up over Twitter. Yes that’s right, Twitter. WWE used the social media service to facilitate a storyline...

The Raw after Wrestlemania has recently become a major part of the Wrestlemania week festivities. A few years ago it was just another Raw, but now it has become one of the biggest non PPV shows of the year with a wild crowd and some surprises expected. Some fans even say the night after the PPV was better than the actual event.
Last years Raw after Wrestlemania 29 is an example of the show being better than the night before. Many fans felt disappointed in what they got at Wrestlemania 29, but the next night they got a variety of different things like an extremely hot crowd, Ziggler winning the title, Fandango being made a star, an unintentionally hilarious match between Sheamus and Randy Orton, and Ryback turning heel creating John Cena’s next feud. All these moments made the show one of the best of the year.

Paul Heyman has this week teased that a new ‘Paul Heyman Guy’ will be announced shortly. While sceptics will observe that the Voice of the Voice of the Voiceless is likely goading speculation from the Internet Wrestling Community, it is surely only a matter of time before a talented Superstar (or Diva) receives the now coveted ‘Heyman Bump’.
From the Dangerous Alliance to the Best in the World, Paul Heyman has led a who’s who of talent to better and brighter pastures. When a superstar aligns themselves with wrestling’s most extreme manager, they find themselves elevated by the sheer presence of one of the industry’s most controversial and provocative personalities. To be a ‘Paul Heyman Guy’ is to exist outside of the system – to be a rebel. It’s a position that legitimises a talent by association, opening the door to the...

One year ago, Dolph Ziggler and his partner Big E wrestled against Team Hell No for the tag titles at WrestleMania 29. They failed to capture the belts, but no matter. The next night on Raw, Ziggy cashed in his Money In The Bank briefcase on World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio. It received the biggest reaction of the night, a long-awaited payoff that made Ziggler a main event player.
Dolph had won the hearts of the WWE universe as a heel. His speed, agility, and bumping abilities became increasingly hard to boo, no matter how egotistical he acted otherwise. He said that he was “just that damn good”, and backed it up.
Just as he’d become a marquee player, disaster struck. He sustained a concussion and was off TV for a month. Upon his return, the concussion was used to elevate Del Rio as a heel,...

The latest Wrestling Observer Radio show speculates that John Cena could be working injured right now.
Host Bryan Alvarez alongside Dave Meltzer noted that either Cena’s shoulders have something wrong, or he’s been over-training by lifting too much weight in the gym.
This became apparent during Cena’s match with Luke Harper during Raw from Brooklyn, New York last night. Cena appeared to very stiff and limited in his movement from the shoulders. Dave Meltzer described his performance as “Really bad. Something is going on with his shoulders, he can not throw a punch to save his life now. His timing was terrible, he can usually have an exciting match but this was terrible.”
Host Bryan Alvarez then noted that Cena has years of wear on his body. If it isn’t an injury, the other issue this could be for Cena is over-training.

Triple H made a huge announcement on Monday’s WWE Raw, which changes the outlook of the WWE Championship match at WrestleMania 30. The main event will now for absolute certainty be a triple threat match between Randy Orton, Batista and the winner of Hhh vs Bryan.
Daniel Bryan’s path to WrestleMania started last year at SummerSlam, when he won the WWE Championship, only to get attacked by Triple H and lose the title minutes later to Money In The Bank winner Randy Orton. This was followed by months of Bryan chasing the title, but coming up short due to The Authority. The fans grew tired of the booking of Daniel Bryan, and the screwy finishes by the WWE. Last week during the “Occupy Raw” segment, the WWE finally got it right, and it seems evident that the fans will get their wish. What better way to put...

Every serious wrestling fan knows that The Undertaker is 21-0 at WrestleMania. It’s pretty incredible that The Streak has lasted this long, as it wasn’t originally conceived to have ever started. The first few Manias he competed at, he could have just as easily been booked to lose. But over the years his consecutive victories have transformed his matches into events that rival the main event for most anticipation. Among his list of defeated opponents have been big stars like Ric Flair, Edge and Jake “The Snake” Roberts. And while The Streak is absolutely impressive, it does feel a bit incomplete.
After all, some of the biggest names from the past couple decades are not among his victims. Part of the reason is because he had two WrestleMania matches with Kane, two with Shawn Michaels (which were both fantastic) and three against Hhh.
