Stephen “Twitch” Boss, DJ and executive producer of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” has died by suicide. He was 40.
Boss’ wife, Allison Holker, confirmed the news in a statement to People, writing, “It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to share my husband Stephen has left us. Stephen lit up every room he stepped into. He valued family, friends and community above all else and leading with love and light was everything to him. He was the backbone of our family, the best husband and father, and an inspiration to his fans.”
Holker continued, “To say he left a legacy would be an understatement, and his positive impact will continue to be felt. I am certain there won’t be a day that goes by that we won’t honor his memory. We ask for privacy during this difficult time for myself and especially for our three children.

"I don't think your mom is just a regular mom." Netflix has revealed an official trailer for a family comedy titled The Sleepover, the latest from director Trish Sie, of Step Up All In and Pitch Perfect 3. When two siblings discover their seemingly normal mom is a former thief in witness protection who has been forced to pull one last job, they team up to rescue her over the course of an action-packed night. Joe Manganiello stars as an ex-flame of their mom who gets involved and helps the kids pull off this job and save the day. Starring Sadie Stanley, Maxwell Simkins, Ken Marino, Cree Cicchino, Lucas Jaye, Karla Souza, Enuka Okuma, Erik Griffin, with Malin Akerman. This looks so cheesy and absurdly fun, like the kind of Hollywood comedies they used to make in the 90s. But, uh, made by Netflix now. Still looks entertaining. Here's the...

Four guys. Eight treadmills. One continuous shot. It's been 14 years since the indie pop band Ok Go released the music video for their song "Here It Goes Again," a sleeper hit off their second studio album Oh No. Thanks to the intricately choreographed video, in which band members Damian Kulash, Tim Nordwind, Dan Konopka and Andy Ross dance across the aforementioned exercise equipment as their belts are revolving at full speed, the group went viral and landed themselves their first entry on the Billboard Hot 100 in their careers. Choreographed by Kulash's sister Trish Sie, who would go on to direct the films Step Up: All In and Pitch Perfect 3, the quirky and decidedly lo-fi video took a total...

There are two types of people in this world: People who love the “Step Up” movies, and people who haven’t seen them all. The franchise began as a straightforward teen romance in 2006 but quickly evolved into a series of lavish pop spectacles, propelled by cheesy melodrama and bolstered by elaborate dance choreography, performed by some of the greatest dancers in the world. As the films get crazier, so too does our love of the quirky cast and their over-the-top shenanigans; think “Fast & Furious,” if the franchise found its outlandish tone in the second film instead of the fifth. The sixth feature film in the series, “Step Up: Year of the Dance,” has just arrived on home video, so let’s take a look back at this whole, wonderful franchise:

A few years back, a little movie called Pitch Perfect hit theaters. The enthusiasm going into the film wasn’t really all that huge, but once it hit, it seemed to catch on like wildfire. The little $17 million picture managed to gross $115 million worldwide, but things really seemed to take off for it when it hit its home release. Like many cult classics, much of its audience picked it up long after it had left theaters. A sequel for the film was inevitable.
In 2015, Pitch Perfect 2 was released, and while the film wasn’t considered as strong as the first one, it still managed to bring the songs and laughs that fans had loved for the first one. It managed to gross a whopping $287 million worldwide on its $29 million budget — a real surprise given its summer release. It was a big hit, and a bit of a pop culture sensation.

Variety reports that Orange Is The New Black’s Ruby Rose is in talks to co-star in Pitch Perfect 3. If she closes the deal, the Australian actress will appear alongside stars Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, and Brittany Snow, all of whom have already signed on for the third installment of the epic Pitch Perfect trilogy. The film has faced a few setbacks in recent months, including a rescheduling that led director Elizabeth Banks to step down in favor of Step Up All In’s Trish Sie.
Rose has made a big push into Hollywood movie-making this year. She’s carved out a continuing niche for herself in the blockbuster sequel world, having recently wrapped filming on the final Resident Evil movie, John Wick: Chapter 2, and xXx: The Return Of Xander Cage.

Lionsgate sources said previous entries in the franchise had performed well in China. Executives will also be aware that the series’ appeal in North America is flagging: the last episode, 2014’s Step Up All In, generated $14.9m – the lowest by far in the franchise.
The companies unveiled the first concept poster for Chinese audiences on Wednesday. Director Ron Yuan will direct an all-Chinese cast and plans to marry martial arts with dance in the film.

The first Pitch Perfect film was something of a surprise.
While I would hesitate to call it a huge hit, it had an admirable box office haul of $115 million worldwide off its relatively small $17 million budget, but it was more than enough to justify the production of its sequel, Pitch Perfect 2. While that film wasn't as big a hit with critics, fans sure seemed to enjoy it quite a bit, and movie went on to make $287 million worldwide off its $29 million budget -- a figure large enough for me to call it a big hit.
Pitch Perfect 2 also served as the directorial debut of Elizabeth Banks, who spearheaded this franchise from the beginning in a producer role. Unfortunately, last June it was confirmed that she would not be returning to the director's chair, but now it sounds like the production has found its helmer.

Pitch Perfect 3 has solved its whole lack-of-a-director issue. Elizabeth Banks, who helmed the second aca-installment of the aca-franchise and also acts in the movies, stepped away from the third. But yesterday she helped announce on Twitter that Trish Sie will be taking over her behind-the-camera duties:
#PitchPerfect has a new leader - so excited @bigbadtrish is directing #PP3! pic.twitter.com/KRbTv5oBsi

Sie has only directed one feature, but she seems like a—dare we say it?—pitch perfect fit for the series about the wild world of college a cappella. (We’re sorry for that one. Truly.) Sie’s major credit is Step Up All In, so she’s seasoned at taking the reins of an established property. But she’s also known for working on those wacky Ok Go videos, like the one without gravity and the one on treadmills. If nothing...

Filmmaker Trish Sie is on the verge of closing a deal to direct Pitch Perfect 3 at Universal, stepping into the director’s chair left vacant by series stalwart Elizabeth Banks.
Banks, who will still produce and star in the 2017 sequel, stepped down from helming the third installment earlier this year citing both parental duties and a stacked schedule. Such a change of heart forced Universal to postpone Pitch Perfect 3 by a full six months, bumping the planned reunion of the Barden Bellas from July 21 to December 22, 2017. If the studio is able to finalize a deal with Sie, though, we understand production will remain on track from here on out.
As for Sie, the director is still a relative newcomer to Hollywood movies with only dance sequel Step Up All In under her belt. What she does possess, however, is a knack for choreography, having assisted in the creation...

The Boy Next Door stars Jennifer Lopez and Ryan Guzman engage in what may be the hottest sex scene on the big screen of the past decade, and J. Lo dished to Et's Kevin Frazier about the response.

"I heard somebody yell, 'Rewind!'" J. Lo said, remembering an audience member's reaction at a screening of the movie. "That's great. It didn't do anything to me. It was another day at the office. Honestly, those scenes are super uncomfortable."
The 45-year-old "Booty" singer stars in the thriller as Clair Peterson, a bored, divorced housewife that gets into a sexual tryst with her teenage neighbor Noah, played by Step Up All In star Ryan Guzman, 27.
While shooting the scene may have been just "another day" for J. Lo, Ryan saw it as a challenge.

Guilty Pleasure. It’s a term I dislike immensely. Why feel guilty about enjoying anything? If you like some, you like something, end of. Another reason I dislike the term guilty pleasure is because the term, at least in movie-related circles, has become synonymous with any movie that is hailed as worthy of critical discussion. Adam Sandler movies are guilty pleasures. The Fast & Furious franchise is (apparently) considered guilty pleasures by some. F that. I like Adam Sandler’s movies, I like the Fast & Furious movies (hell, I’d even go and say I love those!).

Maleficent Maleficent has made over $757 million so far worldwide. That's amazing to me and what's even more amazing is the fact Disney has yet to announce a sequel. Perhaps that's because this seemed to be a film so largely spear-headed by Angelina Jolie that she won't agree to a sequel until a script she considers decent is in front of her. I expect the DVD/Blu-ray to do gangbusters, which should get Disney working even harder on making that a possibility.
A Most Wanted Man I was late to the party with A Most Wanted Man, but as I wrote in my review after watching the Blu-ray I was damned impressed as this is easily one of the best films of the year so far. There are also a couple decent features on the disc, one with John le Carre taking a tour of Hamburg talking about how he created the story.

By Christmas at least six Hollywood films will have been released this year on DVD and VoD roughly 90 days after their theatrical premieres, a departure from the traditional 120-day holdback.
Home entertainment retailers and digital platforms believe a further relaxation of release windows is inevitable.

Step Up 5‘s Briana Evigan and Hannah Montana‘s Emily Osment are gearing up for Love Is All You Need?, an indie drama with a twist inspired by the challenges faced by Lgbt youth. Directed by Kim Rocco Shields and co-written by Shields and David Tillman, the provocative drama is set in a world where being gay is the norm and heterosexual persons are bullied and is based on Shields’ controversial award-winning 2011 short film of the same name.
Shields’ 2011 short starred Lexi Dibennedetto as a young girl who is shunned for being heterosexual and attempts to commit suicide after enduring intolerant treatment from bigoted friends and family; it scored over 45 million YouTube views.
The feature version will follow similar themes focusing on different characters, including Evigan as a female star college quarterback named Jude who strikes up a forbidden romance with a male journalist. Osment will play Kelly, Jude’s girlfriend.

Leading sales agent Cinema Management Group (Cmg) has announced that "Born To Dance," a fresh take on the hip hop dance genre, began shooting on Monday in Auckland, New Zealand.
The feature is choreographed by eight-time World Hip Hop Championships winner Parris Goebel, a faculty member of Monsters of Hip Hop, and recent star in her own right of "Step Up All In."
U.S. bombshell Kherington Payne plays Sasha, the female lead in the multi-million dollar feature. Australasian superstar Stan Walker will play the role of Benjy, Tu’s best friend. Walker shot to fame when he won the first season of Australian Idol and has since cemented his stardom with multiple platinum albums, appearing as a judge on The X Factor New Zealand, and a leading role in the 2013 feature film "Mt Zion."
Tammy Davis will direct, following from his award-winning shorts "Ebony Society" and "Sonny, My Older Brother." New discovery Tia Maipi, a member of world championship hip hop crew The Royal Family, will take on his first major acting role playing Tu.
Peter Jackson’s Park Road Post are the post-production partner, while Vendetta Films will distribute in Aus/Nz. Edward Noeltner’s Cinema Management Group begin world sales at the upcoming Afm. Noeltner says:

“We are very excited to be selling this high energy, exotic and incredibly choreographed film to the buyers at Afm. We are confident this will pick up where the Step Up franchise left off, and we see this as the next international music and dance sensation with terrific worldwide box office potential.”

Edge of Tomorrow One of the year's blockbusters that I would say is worthy of considering buying though be on the lookout for a movie titled Live. Die. Repeat. as that is the new branding this Tom Cruise sci-fi actioner is going by on DVD and Blu-ray shelves. Otherwise, not only do I consider this to be one of the best blockbusters of the year, I'd say it's one of the best movies of 2014 as well. Top tenc Eh, not so sure, but definitely worth your time.
Million Dollar Arm Rental time... at best. This isn't a very good movie and I'm not sure how it has a "fresh" RottenTomatoes score, but I guess if you lower your expectations far enough you'll be satisfied.
A Million Ways to Die in the West I'm not sure expectations can be lowered far enough for this one, however. Seth MacFarlane's follow-up to...

First Paramount picked up Boyhood for home video distribution following its impressive (and still ongoing) theatrical run, and now it seems the studio wants to get in on the ground floor for director Richard Linklater's follow-up, That's What I'm Talking About. According to Deadline, Paramount is set to distribute the film in North America, while Megan Ellison's Annapurna Pictures will produce the feature and handle its international release. Ellison is keen on teaming up with the best filmmakers working today, which has led her to produce some of my favorite movies of the last two years, including Zero Dark Thirty and Her. That's What I'm Talking About is reported to begin shooting in the near future, so perhaps we will see it before 2015 is all said and done. Described as a spiritual sequel to Linklater's Dazed and Confused, That's What I'm Talking About takes place in the 1980s...

Richard Linklater grew into one of North America's premiere filmmaking voices with films like "Slacker," "Dazed and Confused," "School of Rock," "Bernie" and the "Before" trilogy, but it took this year's "Boyhood" for full approval from auteur connoisseur Megan Ellison. Deadline reports that Ellison's artistically-inclined production company Annapurna Pictures will produce Linklater's next film, what he refers to as a "spiritual sequel" to "Dazed." Set in 1980, multiple sources report that "That's What I'm Talking About" follows a freshman student experiencing his first weekend as both an eager college student and the pitcher for the university's nationally ranked baseball team. "Glee" actor Blake Jenner will play the young man, who finds his willpower tested by his party-read teammates. Tyler Hoechlin ("Teen Wolf"), Wyatt Russell ("22 Jump Street"), Ryan Guzman ("Step Up All In"), Zoey Deutch ("Vampire Academy"), Will Brittain ("A Teacher"), and Glen Powell ("The Expendables 3") will costar. Linklater is...
