Shame

Warning: Spoilers
NCIS: Los Angeles is having a so-so final season, which is kind of a shame given how good it was for a number of years, but nothign about this episode was that bad. Not sure how I feel about an entire storyline tonight being devoted to wedding planning with no disruption, no attack, no kidnap, just wedding planning, but what can you do? As a big YouTube user I was happy to see superstar creator Rosanna Pansino pop up as the planner Tara Walker, even if it was for a brief appearance. Would like to see her appear more often on primetime TV, but only time will tell when it comes to that front moving forward.

"Shame"

Warning: Spoilers
You might not know this but NCIS stands for Naval Criminal Investigative Service, so it was nice to see - something of a rarity these days - much of "Shame" take place on an actual United Sates Navy vessel.

A suspected suicide brings the OSP office onboard, and kudos to the writers for where they took the story. Well-acted, too. Good stuff all around.

Elsewhere, Callan and Ana are planning their long-awaited wedding (assuming the big day will be the series finale) and although there was to be no theme, the idea of everyone at a a country and western event with line dancing and cowboy boots made me grin. Imagine Mama Deeks at an event like that?

Sad story that's still relevant today

The turn in this episode when it becomes obvious what was really going on was excellently handled. The B plot involving Sam and his daughter had a similar turn. Also handled well.

I really love how the underlying subject was discussed and integrated into the investigation. There was real-hold stuff discussed openly by several characters without sounding stiff or rehearsed.

Also... I always love any NCIS episode that takes place aboard a ship. I'm not Navy so I have no idea what they really look like. I suspect the production team gets it mostly right (unlike some of the amazingly fast turnarounds on things like DNA, facial recognition, and fingerprints).

All in all, this was a solid stand-alone episode that I really enjoyed.

WOW REALLY!?

Who wrote this trash? Oh my God, that IS NOT how an NCIS agent addresses Navy Personnel especially while on their ship. This is the worst episode yet... WOW REALLY!?
