During the filming of the arrival scene at Grandma Lizzy's house, the family dog "Sonny"(not cast) continued to bark whenever he heard the voice of his owner Susan Hartman (Jackie Write) say her line "Hello". Even when they tried to fake it as well as put him in another room, far from filming, he continued to bark. So the crew decided to leave it in because after all, it sounded normal and was consistent for each take.
Due to lack of budget and time, some location selection were made in haste. At the end of the day's filming of classroom scenes in a Spanish themed room, a cast member noticed that the class next door was a history themed room which would have been more appropriate for the film.
To avoid breaking any laws regarding texting and driving and to remain true to the film's message, all of the driving photos used in the film to display bad technology behavior were shot in a garage or driveway in parked cars.
All actors, crew members, location donations and other production services and equipment were free of charge. When the various people involved were told about the message and purpose of the project, they were moved and excited to contribute. The $600 budget was mostly spent on food, gas and duct tape.
