From the moment I saw Julie K. Smith during the 90's in T&A flicks such as 'Midnight Tease 2' or 'Dallas Connection' and in Penthouse's '25th Anniversary Swimsuit Video', I was hooked and have been a fan since. Now it was looks that gave her success modelling and later a career in low budget flicks, but as you'll see in this interview on 'The Method Actor Speaks' with host John Solari it's been a double edged sword.
In the last couple of years, I've had the pleasure to hear Julie talk candidly in many places online. One thing they all have in common is showcasing a woman who wanted to be taken seriously as an actress and found it to be an uphill battle. Never able to move up. Always hired to get naked. Topics here include the death of b-movies, sex sells, her acting roots and lastly the casting of pornstars and her distain for it.
They don't advertise to young women that taking your clothes off might get you a career, a degree of popularity, but you'll always be seen in a sexual light. It's a fact. Sole exception is when a woman becomes a star and then adds nudity to her resume. I believe Julie came to find this out leaving her a bit resentful and unfulfilled in later years. I didn't know who John Solari is, but this served as another avenue to hear a favorite lady speak.
