Funny and heartwarming episode
alexanderelwood15 May 2023
"Mother Author Laser Pointer" is a very solid episode of Bob's Burgers. It features plenty of the show's signature humor while also telling a sweet story about accepting the inevitability of change. As someone who struggles with transitions myself, this episode resonated with me a fair deal. I like how you can apply its lesson to pretty much any adjustments in life. In addition, Mr. Frond has always been one of my favorite characters, and it was nice to finally see a full subplot centered around him this season. However, the true strength of this episode was Linda's storyline, both from a comedic and heartfelt perspective. In my opinion, this has been one of the more consistent years of Bob's Burgers, and I am immensely excited for the season finale next week.

Remembrance of things past

Seems to be what Linda is hooked onto in this 'sode. Not a bad episode at all. I actually believe the writers story is emotional the way it's presented to the viewer as with the score. This episode takes on a part of that in the belchers real life. Just the kids aren't around as they are trying to get fronds cat down from a tree before principal spoors shows up otherwise fronds ass is grass. The belcher kids don't disappoint. This is the penultimate 'sode of season 13 and next week's 'sode will be hard to top this one as this fired on all cylinders. Both storylines were interesting and moved along.

Linda is getting worse

Warning: Spoilers
Linda has always been the bane of the series with her selfish antics (although you can't have the show without her, either). This episode is infuriating to watch. She literally holds someone hostage through her behavior because an author of a children's book she loves breaks down in front of the restaurant. She spends most of the episode trying to convince this person to write another book in the series she loves and won't take no for an answer. Eventually the author gets fed up and runs out of the restaurant and Linda continues to harass her and chase her into Mort's until they finally have their "moment" of understanding. And as always, she's not held accountable for it by Bob or anyone else.

Basically the plot of Misery!

This is perhaps the worst episode of the whole show. Linda is acting like a complete lunatic and she belongs in jail. It is horrible to watch. And Bob is just as responsible! I think it's a spouses' job to make sure their partner doesn't kidnap anyone. Bee should press charges against them both!

This isn't funny and I genuinely don't know what the writers were thinking. Is it supposed to be funny? Linda detains and terrifies that poor woman. I don't see how her sadness at the idea of her children growing up makes any of her insane actions seem reasonable or heartwarming.

The B story is also flat and there's no real connection between the two. Overall, this eposode has zero re-watch value.
