"Gut Gespielt" or "Good Game" is a German short film from 2023, so very new and fresh still. GGPoker was in charge here and there you also see the initials of course that are connected with the film's title(s). The international title already shows that there is a connection to professional competition here and this is not about a tennis handshake at the net after the match, but it is all about the game of poker as long as you do not exaggerate it. But GGPoker is of course interested in attracting amateurs to their website and not about the kind of professional poker you see on television. As you also see that this is a 2023 production, I guess it is safe to say before the situation with Rammstein singer Till Lindemann escalated when all these accusations by females were brought up against him. This really must have backfired for GGPoker and may be the big reason why you do not find this clip of under four minutes too easily anymore. They probably do not want to be associated with it. It is still a pity I think because there is still the rule of innocent until proven guilty and also this was not a bad film by any means. The style and tone are alright and Lindemann keeps it lighter this time if we compare the outcome to his efforts with Rammstein. Of course, there is the mention of blood during the voiceover and also towards the end we see some slightly more controversial shots, but nothing too severe. Lindemann is playing several characters in here at the same time as we see him in costume of four characters or so. We see another man briefly on two occasions and the attractive female character at the table here is played by Hispanic model Violeta de Agua. She really does not do anything though. She is just there. Well, on one occasion she is inside a bed of flowers or something like that which was maybe the most artistic shot of it all.
The one in charge of the writing and direction here was Specter Berlin, definitely no coincidence either as he has worked with Rammstein in the past too, also on content that many consider the band's finest. I also consider this a possibility and you can see his talent with the outcome here. I am not a big Rammstein fan, but even I recognized the mention of "Sonne" in here (the sun) that will remind people of one of Rammstein's most famous hit single. You do not get to see a four-minute video too often when it comes to Lindemann/Rammstein that is not a music video, even if the way the protagonist talks in here of course bears some similarities to Rammstein videos. Only the music is missing. I am not sure which character from the red poker table setting in this futuristic building was my favorite Till. I think I might be going with the one that felt a bit hyperactive because it is something else compared to the cool and restrained Lindemann we usually see. Overall, I still give this new short film a thumbs-down, but as I stated already, it is not terrible or anything and also no hardcore adult material that Lindemann has also worked on in the 2020s. Even if poker is for adults, at least here it is. Maybe a good watch for a long round of poker in which you folded early or if you really dig Rammstein. Otherwise you can skip it, but as it is so short, you are also not doing too much wrong if you go for it. To sum it all up, I somehow hoped I would maybe hear the words from the title from Lindemann's mouth, but it wasn't meant to happen. I guess GGPoker's marketing unit is happy about that today, but even if I repeat myself, I must say again that we should never forget: Innocent until proven guilty!
