Warning: Spoilers
I have already reviewed the series but this episode is so extraordinary that we need to have a serious chat, just you and I.

The team behind this amazing series already revealed their preference for the distaff side when they cast Lucy Liu as Watson, a trope that not even the immortal Stephen Moffatt dared try.

I had no problem with that. In fact, it matched my screensaver rather nicely.

So, with a strong series already under their belt, what came next? Well, not content to rest on their laurels, they re-imaged Moriarty, also with a decidedly higher than normal oestrogen content. (The wonderful Natalie Dormer, who left a strong impression in THE FADES, among others) The result? Brilliance. Not merely a regular Holmes episode but enough subtext for a Ph.D thesis. What better way to distract a man than with the woman of his dreams? What better way to anger a man than attack him where it hurts the most -- his ego? What better way to hurt a man than remove the woman of his dreams...? Whether this series continues another season or retires gracefully into TV history, I believe this twist on the Holmes tale will always remain memorable, for present viewers, and future ones.
